STEWARDS REPORT FOR MILDURA

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1EUSTON CLUB  PACE (2190 MS).

YOU LITTLE TERROR- driver Jack Laugher was fined $100 pursuant to AHRR 156(3) for exceeding the permitted number of whip uses over the final 200 metres.

LOUIEVILLE- a false start was declared when the gelding was impeded by the clerk of the course when coming out of the pre start circle. Hung in at various stages, held up for clear running around the home turn and early in the straight.

RACE 2 –VERDE @ THE GATEWAY PACE (1790 MS)

STEAL SOME TIME- began badly and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

UNETHICAL- unsuccessfully contested for the lead in the early stages, then obtained cover before tiring to be beaten 68 metres. A post race veterinary check revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards queried driver Jordan Leedham, who explained that the mare had begun well of her own accord, and had established an half length advantage over BILUM, and after doing so he briefly asked his drive but desisted as BILUM was then driven forward to hold the lead. Mr Leedham added that as LETSGO BIG GIRL worked forward mid race his drive then pulled hard for some distance until gaining cover, and he believed that this had contributed to the mare tiring. A warning was placed on the performance.

LOVE TO DEAL- checked immediately after the start when STEAL SOME TIME broke.

GOOD BOOTS BINDI- gear adjustments required at the pre start circle resulting in the start being delayed.

 

RACE 3 – McDONALDS IRYMPLE & MILDURA PACE (2190 MS)

MACHSTIQUE- Stewards questioned trainer Darren McInnnes as to the apparent improved performance of the gelding. Mr McInnes explained that the gelding had in his view benefited from a change in training routine since last racing at Broken Hill on 15 March, and was also  better suited when able to lead in his races. Stewards noted the explanation tendered. The gelding was detained on course for three hours for post race sampling.

DEADLINE- angled into the one out line , then inconvenienced near the 1700 metres as the pace eased. Paced roughly at various stages, a post race check revealed no apparent abnormalities.

ROCKNROLL RANGER- driver Luke Dunne was cautioned for tightening the running of MUSTANG MAX when attempting to angle in behind the leader near the 1800 metres. Mr Dunne was also cautioned for easing the pace when leading the one out line near the 1700 metres.

MUSTANG MAX- tightened and nearside sulky wheel raced inside two marker peags near the 1800 metres.

SPORTY PHILTRA-  inconvenienced near the 1700 metres.

WHITE STAR SAMMY- inconvenienced near the 1700 metres. Held up for clear running around the home turn and early in the home straight.

GOT THE GOODS- underwent pre and post race veterinary checks due to his number of lifetime starts- no abnormalities apparent.

RIVERGUM COUNTESS- inconvenienced near the 1700 metres. Paced roughly near the 950 metres.

 

 

RACE 4 ZILZIE WINES PACE (2190 MS)

STONEBRIDGE STAR- underwent pre and post race veterinary checks due to his number of lifetime starts-  no abnormalities evident.

GUYS BETTOR BET-  underwent pre and post race veterinary checks due to his number of lifetime starts-  no abnormalities evident.

HAVELOCK- pulled hard after surrendering the lead through the middle stages.

IMPETUOSO- hung in at various stages, contacting marker pegs- warning issued.

 

As the field were circling before the start of Race 5, a light tower mid way up the home straight failed, leaving a significant shadowed area on the track. Runners were ordered back to the stalls whilst the fault was investigated and rectified. As a consequence all remaining races were delayed with the amended start times as follows.

Race 5-8.28 p.m

Race 6- 8.54 p.m

Race 7- 9.16 p.m

RACE 5 – MHRC THANKS YOU SANDRA ARNOLD  PACE (2190 MS)

ABSTRACTOR- driver Jordan Leedham did not appear in the racebook. Trainer Kate Attard was cautioned for her late driver change. Held up around the home turn and early in the home straight.

SINISTER- driver Charli Masotti was not listed in the racebook as the driver. Held up around the home turn and then obtained an inside run from the 190 metres as GIGI I GOT THIS shifted out under pressure.

GIGI I GOT THIS- Stewards queried driver Alex Ashwood regarding the mare shifting out form the top of the home straight. Mr Ashwood explained that the mare wears a lugging pole on her inside as she tends to hit her nearside knee and hang in on the turns, however immediately upon entering the home straight had then shifted out despite his efforts to correct the mare. Stewards accepted Mr Ashwoods’ explanation which was verified from viewing the race vision. A warning was placed on the mares’ manners.

MAJESTIC SUE-  held up early in the home straight and then held up  again nearing the finish.

EASTBRO JESSE- pulled hard then held up around the home turn.

 

RACE 6 – TASCO PETROLEUM   PACE (2190 MS)

TAY TAY- hung in during the score up and hung in markedly on the turns throughout the race. A post race veterinary check indicated no abnormalities. Trainer /driver Alex Ashwood reported that the mare may now be retired from racing. A warning was placed on the mare for hanging in.

RACE 7 – MERBEIN CLUB PACE (1790 MS)

LINA AND MOLLY- pulled hard in the score up and in running.

ALLWOOD WIZARD- driver Jordan Leedham was cautioned for driving with his body outside the confines of the sulky , most noticeably from the 400 metres.

NIFTY STUDLEIGH- held up and unable to obtain clear running.

KEAYANG MOROCCAN- held up until near the 100 metres.

UNITED- hung in under pressure over the concluding stages.

 

RACE 8 MILDURA BOWLS CARNIVAL 29TH APRIL- 5 MAY PACE (2190 MS)

ALLGOOD VINNIE- tired to be beaten in excess of 100 metres- stood down from racing pending the completion of a satisfactory trial.

HESASTAR- hung in under pressure near the 250 metres.

RIMU VALLEY NZ- trainer representative Eric Anderson was fined $100 pursuant to AHRR 273(6)(a) for presenting the gelding to race wearing an incorrect number. Hung in and contacted marker pegs near the 600 metres.

OZZIE DAYBREAK- held up around the home turn.

 

RACE 9- WELL DONE CUP WEEK WORKERS PACE(1790 MS)

DARK SANDS- began badly and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw, trailed the field thereafter.

EYE ON YOU- underwent pre and post race veterinary checks due to not having raced since 14 May 2022- no abnormalities apparent. Tired to be beaten in excess of 100 metres- stood down from racing pending the completion of a satisfactory trial.

PLACES YOU DON’T- trainer Toby Ryan was cautioned for failing to notify the intended tactics of his multiple runners.

IM YOUR VENUS- severely checked after the start as DARK SANDS broke.

COTTON CANDY MAN- pulled hard in the score up, the inconvenienced after the start.

ALIENFROMARMSTRONG- out of position at the start, then broke after the start and will continue out of the mobile barrier draw.

RACE 10- THE GATEWAY PACE FINAL(2190 MS)

MISS LILY MAY- tired to be beaten 88 metres- placed on her last chance to race competitively.

ART OF EVIL- tired to be beaten 80 metres and was placed on her last chance to race competitively.

MALAVA MISS- driver Liam Older was fined $100 pursuant to AHRR 156(7) for his use of the whip outside the confines of the sulky in the home straight.

THE TOOTH FAIRY- tired to be beaten 80 metres and was placed on her last chance to race competitively.
