STEWARDS REPORT FOR MILDURA

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.

 

RACE 1 – CLUB AQUARIUS FITNESS PACE (2190 MS)

FLETCHAS ROY – Weakened inside the final 850 metres to be beaten 95.7 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. FLETCHAS ROY was placed on its last chance to race competitively.

LORD VERDE NZ – Trainer M Laugher was issued a formal caution for failing to accurately record the gelding’s gear form.

ROCKING WROXTON – Over-raced throughout the early and middle stages.

LESTER – Post-race swab sample.

BEAUDIENESGOLD – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the mare having not competed in the preceding 12 months. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

 

RACE 2 – APG PACE (1ST HEAT) (2190 MS)  

NEDS BEACH NZ – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

GLITZY ALL OVER – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish.

 

RACE 3 – APG PACE (2ND HEAT) (2190 MS)

GRENADE – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

APOLOGY ACCEPTED – Slow to begin. Post-race swab sample.

LOVE TO DEAL – Over-raced throughout the middle stages.

STONEBRIDGE STAR – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

 

RACE 4 – MCDONALDS IRYMPLE & MILDURA PACE (2190 MS)

MACK PACK NZ – Broke gait clear of interference whilst rounding the first turn. MACK PACK NZ was placed on its last chance to race truly.

RIO ROCK – Broke gait during the early stages of the score up and consequently was out of position at the start. RIO ROCK will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. Detained on-course for approximately three hours following the completion of the event in accordance with ‘HRV Elevated TCO2 policy’ for the purpose of collecting a delayed post-race blood sample.

 

RACE 5 – ZILZIE WINES PACE (1790 MS)

HOLD ON FOREVER – Weakened inside the final 650 metres to be beaten 70.6 metres. A warning was issued.

WHATTA YA UP TAA – Raced roughly whilst rounding the first turn causing THE DEVIL ROLLS ON to be hampered. Broke gait clear of interference passing the 300 metres causing the trailing THE DEVIL ROLLS ON and UNCUT GEM to be hampered whilst CAULONIA BELLA, ROCKNROLL LENNY and ORATOR were all checked as a result. In view of the gelding’s recent record, WHATTA YA UP TAA was stood down to one re-qualifying trial.

CAULONIA BELLA – Checked passing the 300 metres when WHATTA YA UP TAA broke gait.

THE DEVIL ROLLS ON – Hampered rounding the first turn when WHATTA YA UP TAA raced roughly. Hampered passing the 300 metres when WHATTA YA UP TAA broke gait. Post-race swab sample.

UNCUT GEM – Driver E Tormey was issued a formal caution for failing to have the gelding in position at the start. Hampered passing the 300 metres when WHATTA YA UP TAA broke gait. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

ROCKNROLL LENNY – Checked passing the 300 metres when WHATTA YA UP TAA broke gait. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

ORATOR – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

 

RACE 6 – MALLEE STOCKFEEDS PACE (1790 MS)

CRUZ WITH ROME – Locked wheels momentarily with ESCOBAR NZ passing the 150 metres.

ESCOBAR NZ – Locked wheels momentarily with CRUZ WITH ROME passing the 150 metres.

LOUIEVILLE – When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance, driver W Hill explained that the gelding had been disadvantaged in its recent starts from second row draws and as such was unable to utilise its gate speed at the start, whereby the gelding today was drawn inside of its main dangers and began quickly from the mobile barrier and was able to dictate the tempo in the event after establishing the lead to which the gelding appreciates. He added that, at the gelding’s most recent win albeit some time ago his runner raced over the shorter distance and led throughout on that occasion which were similar conditions presented today and stated that the gelding is better suited when racing over the shorter distances. Stewards noted his comments. Post-race swab sample.

MEMPHIS BLASTER NZ – Raced roughly shortly after entering the first turn.

RONZEL RAFA – Pre-race blood sample.

LOYOLA SPIAGGIA – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

COTCHINELLIE – Driver E Tormey reported post-race that the gelding was unsuited by the race pattern of today’s event given the genuine tempo set throughout which proved difficult for those runners settled towards the rear of the field to make ground on the runners racing prominently, however stated that her runner is better suited when racing along the marker pegs in its races and failed to appreciate making a run wider on the track rounding the final turn.

 

RACE 7 – VALE JENNY CHARLES PACE (1790 MS)

AVOCA BLUES – Pre-race blood sample. Presented on-course four hours prior to the advertised start time in accordance with ‘HRV Elevated TCO2 policy’.

GOOD BOOTS BINDI – Checked passing the 600 metres when KIALLA KID broke gait.

KIALLA KID – Broke gait clear of interference passing the 600 metres causing GOOD BOOTS BINDI to be checked. KIALLA KID was placed on its last chance to race truly.

 

RACE 8 – THE BUTCHER MILDURA VICBRED VOUCHER MAIDEN PACE (1790 MS)

BRIEISBETTER – Weakened inside the final 500 metres to beaten 62.7 metres. in view of the fast mile rate for the grade (1.57.3), no action was taken.

ALIENFROMARMSTRONG – Declared a late withdrawal at 9:19 am, acting on veterinary advice.

ALLGOOD VINNIE – Weakened inside the final 550 metres to be beaten 81.3 metres. A warning was issued.

ELISSAS DELIGHT – Hampered shortly after the start when DESTINY KEPT galloped out. Hampered behind the tiring BRIEISBETTER between the 500 metres and the 350 metres.

DESTINY KEPT – Begun badly when galloping away at the start causing ELISSAS DELIGHT to be hampered and trailed the field thereafter. DESTINY KEPT will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

STYLISTIK – Broke gait during the early stages of the score up and consequently was out of position at the start. STYLISTIK will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 9 – H.B.F. FABRICATIONS PACE (1790 MS)

ROBERT CROCKA – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

EGBERT – Hampered behind the tiring GLENLEA HANOVER between the 400 metres and the 300 metres.

GLENLEA HANOVER – Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.

FLYIN TOMMY NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Presented on-course four hours prior to the advertised start time in accordance with ‘HRV Elevated TCO2 policy’.

ROJENBYE – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish.

SHES POPPY – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.
