STEWARDS REPORT FOR MARYBOROUGH

SUNDAY 20 OCTOBER 2024

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.

 

RACE 1 – HARAS DES TROTTEURS  2YO TROTTERS HANDICAP (2190 SS)

BOOT LEGGING- galloped out from the standing start and trailed the field throughout- placed out of the standing start draw.

I AM WILMA- pulled hard, then raced fiercely before breaking near the 600 metres.

SHES SKY HIGH- trainer Tyrone Abela was cautioned for failing to have the gear worn by the filly accurately recorded. Broke shortly after the start and was placed out of the standing start draw. Trotted roughly rounding the home turn.

KYVALLEY JAGGER- broke nearing the 1500 metres- warning issued.

CARLA PIXIE- post race swab samples taken.

 

RACE 2 – BLUE PYRENEES WINERY 3YO MAIDEN  PACE (1690 MS)

BETATHANABOUGHTONE- hung in near the 250 metres and contacted marker pegs.

MY KGARI- pre race swab samples taken.

LOULOU BOY- broke racing into the first turn and was placed on his last chance to race truly. Paced roughly near the 500 metres, then tired to be beaten 67 metres and a warning was issued.

MIKI SHEFFIELD- broke free of interference near the 400 metres and was placed on his last chance to race truly.

EXCELZIOR- post race swab samples taken.

 

RACE 3 – REDWOOD DAY 2024- 7 DAYS TO GO 3YO MAIDEN TROT (2190 MS)

The all clear was held up to allow Stewards to review the race vision of the start and the home turn. After reviewing the vision Stewards were satisfied that ALDEBARAN SUSANNE had broken in the latter stages of the score up, however had not interfered with any other runner prior to the start. The filly then proved difficult to restrain, with driver Chris Alford then directing the filly up the track and restraining the filly which then lost ground when being returned to her correct gait. It was also noted that the filly had hung in near the 250 metres and contacted marker pegs for a short distance. All Clear was then given

DRESSEDUPINTHECITY- slowly out from the start and then inconvenienced into the first turn. Tired to be beaten 79 metres and was placed on his last chance to race competitively.

LADY OF TIAVON- driver Michael Bellman was not listed in the racebook. Broke in the score up, out of position at the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw. Broke near the 1800 metres and trailed the field thereafter.

SKY LINDY- pre race swab samples taken.

ALDEBARAN SUSANNE- broke late in the score up and proved difficult to control- placed out of the mobile barrier draw. Hung in and contacted marker pegs near the 250 metres. Post race swab samples taken.

HENRYS HORSE- broke briefly near the 1900 metres, then pulled hard before tiring to be beaten 69 metres- warning issued. The gelding underwent a post race veterinary examination which indicated the gelding to have a laceration to his off fore coronet band which required bandaging. The gelding was stood down from racing for ten days.

GIN TONIQUE- inconvenienced racing into the first tur. Hung in and trotted roughly near the 900 metres. Tired to be beaten 130 metres and was stood down from racing pending the completion of a satisfactory trial.

 

RACE 4 – E L TITAN VICTORIA TROTTERS DERBY (1ST heat) (2690 MS)

VALTINO- pre race swab samples taken. Hung out and trotted roughly near the 900 metres.

MISTER BLINDSIDE- pulled hard after surrendering the lead.

KEAYANG ZAHARA- post race swab samples taken.

SINGARA TED- Tired to be beaten 170 metres and underwent a post race veterinary examination with no abnormalities apparent. Stood down from racing pending the completion of a satisfactory trial. Stewards will follow up with connections in the days following the race.

BILLY ZIPPIN- tired to be beaten 50 metres, however due to the class of the race and extended race distance no action was taken.

ALL THAT REMAINS- pre race swab samples taken. Gave ground over the concluding stages.

 

RACE 5 – CLASSIC CONNECTION VICTORIA TROTTERS DERBY (2ND Heat)(2690 MS)

LOCKSLEY CAVALIER- pre race swab samples taken.

APRIL SUN- broke simultaneously to the start being effected and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

PINNIE- trainer Andy Gath was cautioned for failing to have the gear worn by the filly accurately recorded. Utilised the sprint lane to win the race. Post race swab samples taken.

JILLIBY BALLERINI- trainer Paddy Lee was cautioned for failing to have the gear worn by the filly accurately recorded. Driver Jason Lee was not listed in the racebook.  Pre race swab samples taken.

ARGYLE ROCKS- pulled hard in the score up and was out of position at the start- will continue right out of the mobile barrier draw. Pulled hard in running.

 

RACE 6 – DANCINGINTHEDARK M @ALDEBARAN PARK  TROT (2190 MS)

VELVETNLACE- broke free of interference near the 1800 metres and trailed the field thereafter. Given the mares recent race history she was stood down from racing for fourteen days and until the completion of two satisfactory trials.

DOUBLE DOT- tired to be beaten 60 metres, with a post race veterinary examination indicating no abnormalities- a warning was issued given the beaten margin.

ROMANTIC NINA- driver Liam Older was cautioned for failing to have the mare in position at the start. Post race swab samples taken.

CADENCE LANE- pre race swab samples taken. Held up and inconvenienced around the home turn.

KEAYANG GYPSY- was placed out of the mobile barrier draw subsequent to the fields for this meeting being released. Pursuant to AHRR 134(7) the filly was ordered to start from the outside of the second row.

APEX- inconvenienced near the 1800 metres.

 

RACE 7 – MCPHERSONS PRINTING GROUP TROT (2190 MS)

 The start of this race was delayed due to Horsham gallops Race 7 running behind schedule.

POPPY POPSTAR- broke in the score up, out of position at the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw. Trailed the field thereafter.

ALDEBARN MARCUS- trainer Vince Vallelonga was cautioned for failing to have the gear worn by the filly accurately recorded. Tired to be beaten 70 metres- warning issued.

COUNTESS CHIRON- pulled hard in running.

PRETTYBOY HARRY- shifted out in the home straight. Post race swab samples taken.

CALL ME JACK- Stewards approved Matthew Purcell as a late driver replacement due to listed driver Ian McMahon being indisposed. Mr McMahon must provide a medical clearance before driving again.

YOGI SON NZ- broke on two occasions in the score up- was out of position at the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 8 – BENSTUD STANDARDBREDS  PACE (1690 MS)

The start of this race was delayed due to an international gallops race running behind schedule.

HESTON CASH- hung in and contacted marker pegs near the 250 metres.

HANOVER JACK- pre race swab samples taken. Held up around the home turn.

REDBANK MOLLY- restrained at the start then broke free of interference near the 1400 metres and trailed the field thereafter. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. The mare was placed ion her last chance to race truly.

TORQUE POWER- post race swab samples taken.

INSIDER TRADING- obtained a three wide trail into the race from the 800 metres, however commenced to hang in and then  hung in noticeably in the home straight- warning issued.
