RACE 5 – WORLDS BEST HOOF OIL CONCESSION DRIVERS PACE     (2190M MS)

OHHEMMJAY CRESCO – Driver Riley Pace was cautioned for careless driving after he allowed his drive to stride forward during the early stages of the score up, contacting the mobile barrier arm causing the gelding to be checked, gallop then trail the field. In not taking stronger action against Driver Riley Pace Stewards were mindful of Mr Pace’s experience and that this was the first time Mr Pace had driven Ohhemmjay Cresco.

WRITTEN IN SILK – Subject to a post-race swab sample.

WOW YOU CAN DANCE – Pulled herd during the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When queried regarding her driving tactics Driver Rory Coverdale explained once finding the position outside the leader near the 1600m she was challenged for that position by Cresco Threepeat racing past the 1400m. Driver Coverdale stated she initially resisted this challenge but Wow You Can Dance began to over race from the 1200m, from then on she was unable to restrain the gelding to take cover.  Her comments were noted.

AMERICAN SQUARED – Deafeners failed to release over the concluding stages.

CRESCO THREEPEAT – Nearside sulky tyre was contacted and flattened near the 400m. Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 80m into 10th place. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When queried regarding her driving tactics Driver Ada Massa explained Cresco Threepeat’s usual and successful racing pattern is to race in a forward position due to the gelding being one paced. Ms Massa stated she was able to gain a suitable trail into the race during the middle stages but racing near the 1400m realised the position outside the leader was not available. She then attempted to restrain the gelding back to the position she vacated but she was unable to regain that position. From there her only option was to work forward to try to find the position outside the leader where Cresco Threepeat was unable to work forward far enough to clear Wow You Can Dance and find a two wide position. This was partly due to Wow You Can Dance over racing. This left Cresco Threepeat three wide until the gelding began to tire from the 400m. With hindsight Ms Massa acknowledged she should not have left her two wide trailing position at the 1600m. After taking into consideration Cresco Threepeat usual racing pattern and performance when racing in this manner Stewards could not be satisfied to the required standard that the decision made by Ms Massa at the 1600m was blameworthy enough to warrant issuing a charge and noted her comments.

FOREGONE CONCLUSION – Was checked and contacted the nearside tyre of Cresco Threepeat when that runner gave ground near the 400m.

LILSTREPO – Raced roughly near the 300m.

DOUBLE THE HUNTER – Hung in and raced roughly near the 400m.

Driver Brett Shipway was cautioned for the way he shifted ground wider near the 800m when insufficiently clear to do so resulting in Black And Gold’s wheel to be contacted and tyre flattened by Montana Chevelle. No action was taken against Driver Brett Shipway for allowing his left foot to drop from the footrest while attempting to take weight off the flattened offside tyre.
