STEWARDS REPORT FOR MARYBOROUGH

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 –ALDEBARAN PARK 4YO & OLDER MAIDEN TROT (2190M MS)

 

BET BET HOTSHOT – Pulled hard during the middle stages.

CRESCO CASHFLOW – Hung out during the score up. Hung out at various stages of the event. Galloped clear of interference near the 250m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

APACHEVALLEY – Subject to a pre-race blood sample. Was fractious before the start rearing on two occasions. A warning was issued. Pulled hard during the middle stages. Held up for a clear run until the 200m.

DRESEDUPINTHECITY – Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 68m into 8th place. Placed on its last chance to race competitively.

 

RACE 2 – VITAL SIGNS 2YO PACE                                               (1690M MS)

 

TORQUE IN HEAVEN – Trainer Peter Manning was cautioned for not advising dual-runner tactics by the required time. Galloped clear of interference near the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Will be stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial and for a period of 10 days.

LOIERO – Checked near the 1400m when Look At Her galloped.

VINNIES HOPE – Galloped clear of interference shortly after the start. Will continue to be placed outside the standing start barrier draw. The filly then trailed the field.

LOOK AT HER – Galloped clear of interference near the 1400m. The filly then trailed the field. Galloped clear of interference near the 400m. Will be stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

 

RACE 3 – MARYBOROUGH IGA VICBRED VOUCHER 3YO MAIDEN PACE                 (2190M MS)

 

ALWAYS ON SAFARI – Subject to a post-race swab sample. Hung in between the 300m and 200m. Driver Shaun O’Sullivan was fined $200 pursuant to AHRR 156(2)(a) for using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking action over the concluding stages.

CALEDONIAN ROCKY – Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 92m into 9th place. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Will be stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

ROMAN CHARLIE – Pulled hard during the middle stages.

BETTERBWATCHING – Locked wheels briefly with Its Hydromatic near the 150m.

ITS HYDROMATIC – Locked wheels briefly with Betterbwatching near the 150m.

 

RACE 4 – PETER EGAN BI-RITE ELECTRICAL TROT                 (1690M MS)

 

THE SKY IS THE LIMIT – Inconvenienced near the 250m when Kyvalley Anthony galloped.

KYVALLEY ANTHONY – Galloped clear of interference near the 250m. Was shifted in contacting marker pegs soon after galloping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Brent Lilley was fined $500 with $250 suspended for a period of two years under rule 273(1) for presenting Kyvalley Anthony to race in equipment not listed on the HRA Approved Gear List or without permission to do so.

BULLAPARK BENO – Locked wheels near the 400m with Robbinmemates. Galloped clear of interference near the 350m.

ROBBINMEMATES – Locked wheels near the 400m with Bullapark Beno.

 

RACE 5 – MARYBOROUGH GOLF CLUB TROTTERS HANDICAP   (2190M SS)

CHARLIE WALKER – Paced and galloped near the 2000m. The gelding then trailed the field.

ALLWHATFUNJINGLES – The race book failed to show Jack Laugher as the driver. Galloped clear of interference near the 1700m.

HAPPY ESCAPE – Galloped clear of interference after the start. Then trailed the field. Will be placed outside the standing start barrier draw.

SINGARA TED – Galloped clear of interference after the start. Will be placed outside the standing start barrier draw.

HES THEMIGHTYSPIN – Galloped clear of interference after the start. Will be placed outside the standing start barrier draw.

SILENT REVERIE – Galloped clear of interference after the start. Will be placed outside the standing start barrier draw.

 

RACE 6 – BENSTUD STANDARDBREDS PACE (1ST HEAT)          (2190M MS)

 

JUST PEDRO – Raced roughly after the start.

LOU EASYANA – Subject to a post-race swab sample.

SENNA STORM – Inconvenienced near the 400m when Keayang Lexi began to give ground. Held up for a clear run until the 100m.

KEAYANG PAYTON – Stewards intend to follow up with the stable in the coming days.

Follow Up Report 17 December 2025 –

Driver Jason Lee reported that following the engagement at Maryborough, Keayang Paton had recovered well and had no abnormalities present.

KEAYANG LEXI – Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 35m into 10th place. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When queried regarding the performance Driver Jason Lee reported that he was at a loss to explain the performance. Adding was disappointed with both stable runners. Mr Lee added both filly’s have been working well at home but due to recent track upgrades at the stable he may have underestimated how fit the fillies were prior to the race. Stewards intend to follow up with the stable in the coming days.

Follow Up Report 17 December 2025 –

Driver Jason Lee reported that following the engagement at Maryborough, Keayang Lexi had recovered well and had no abnormalities present.

 

RACE 7 – REDPATH TYRE & BATTERY SERVICE TROT             (2190M MS)

 

KAMARAN – Galloped clear of interference near the 800m. Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 148m into 11th place. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Will be stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

RASENGAN – Galloped clear of interference twice during the score up. Was out of position at the start. Will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.

BLACK AND GOLD – Due to the mare having competed in more than 200 races was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

AZALEA MAE – Driver Luke Dunne reported he finished the race with a flat tyre.

KOTA BHARU – Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 195m into 12th place. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Will be stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

HOLD THAT MAGIC – Out of position at the start. Will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 8 – LIFE MEMBER CARMEL DIX MEMORIAL PACE (2ND HEAT)                     (1690M MS)

 

ROBLEN RANGER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When queried regarding his driving tactics Driver Paul Warnock explained Roblen Ranger found the lead comfortably shortly after the start but was challenged near the 1400m by Normandy Nugget. Mr Warnock added Roblen Ranger was racing well within itself when elected to keep Normandy Nugget wider, adding he felt this wasn’t a suitable horse to follow. Mr Warnock added he was able to gain some respite during the second quarter which was run in 31.4 seconds and if a more favoured runner had challenged, he may have considered restraining to take cover. Mr Warnock’s comments were noted.

NO EMOTION – Trainer Michael Gadsden was cautioned for not advising dual-runner tactics by the required time. Held up for a clear run until the 100m. When queried regarding his decision to not shift wider near the 600m Driver Luke Dunne explained No Emotion has a short sprint and is usually not asked for an effort until after the 400m. Mr Dunne added that No Emotion was having it first start since 18 June 2025 and had not travelled as strongly during the race as he usually does. Mr Dunne further added that No Emotion is better when racing closer to the pegs rather than being wider on the track. His comments were noted.

ARE WEASLEY – Subject to a pre-race blood sample.

ILLAWAONG PHOENIX – Competed pursuant to the HRV Elevated TCO2 policy. Was presented on course for sampling four hours prior racing. Subject to a pre-race blood sample.

MAXY BOMBER – Subject to a post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 9 – MCPHERSONS PRINTING GROUP TROT                     (2190M MS)

 

GENERAL – This race delayed significantly due to a patron becoming unwell and requiring medical assistance. The race was run 35 minutes late at 5:57pm

APEX – Inconvenienced from the 500m when Lindy Grace began to tire.

LINDY GRACE – Pulled hard during the middle stages. Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 77m into 12th place. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Was placed on its last chance to race competitively. When queried regarding the performance Donna Castles explained due to the unexpected delay the mare over raced during the early and middle stages which is not the usual racing manners of Lindy Grace. Her comments were noted.  

WAIKARE ADRIENNA – Held up for a clear run until approaching the 200m before using the sprint lane.

LADY SUSPICIOUS – Galloped clear of interference after the start. Will be placed outside the mobile barrier draw. Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 60m into 11th place. A warning was issued.

THE CHOOK – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When queried regarding the performance Driver Jack Laugher explained he felt the mare didn’t handle the delay, never travelling well throughout the race. His comments were noted. Driver Jack Laugher was spoken to advisedly regarding his whip action used near the 400m.

STATELY SALOME – Held up for a clear run until the 150m. Subject to a post-race swab sample.
