STEWARDS REPORT FOR MARYBOROUGH

SUNDAY 6 NOVEMBER 2022

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 – ON A STREAK @ HARAS DES TROTTEURS 2YO TROT (2190 MS)

The start time of this event was amended to 12.10pm.

Romantic Nina broke during the score-up and will now be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events. The filly then broke in the back straight on the final occasion.

Majestic Summer was out of position when the start was effected and will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events. The filly then broke three times in running. Considering her prior record and the totality of behaviors in this event, Majestic Summer will now be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one (1) occasion.

Muscle Miss was out of position when the start was effected and will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.

Wyldcat raced roughly and broke gait rounding the home turn on the final occasion. Muscle Miss who was trailing Wyldcat at the time, was inconvenienced.

RACE 2 – R & L EMERSON PRINTING PACE (1690 MS)

George Batsakis, trainer of Oceanique was cautioned for presenting the mare to race in gear that was not accurately recorded.

Shawami Lass NZ raced roughly and hung out for most of the event when leading and a warning was issued. Shawami Lass NZ underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a slow recovery. Stewards intend to follow up with connections in the coming days as to the mare’s recovery.

Justin Brewin, driver of Amphijet was cautioned for shifting ground at approx. the 250m, momentarily inconveniencing Backwards First, who was placed to the outside of that runner.

RACE 3 – DANCINGINTHEDARK M @ALDEBARAN PARK 3YO MAIDEN TROT (2190 MS)

The start time of this event was amended to 1.20pm.

Michael Gadsden, trainer of Its Not Love Me was cautioned for presenting the filly in gear that was not accurately recorded.

Its Not Love Me began badly and will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events. The filly trailed the field thereafter.

Im Blindsided who was on debut, was out of position when the start was effected and will now be placed on his last chance in the draw. The gelding then hung in and broke, rounding the first turn and trailed the field thereafter. Wills Maverick, who was drawn behind Im Blindsided on the second row was inconvenienced in the score up by that runner.

Petite Four was out of position when the start was effected and will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events. The filly then broke twice in running and will be placed on her last chance to race truly.

Brookies Babe was fractious and required the assistance of the Clerk of the Course to participate in the early part of the score-up, then broke in the score up, was out of position when the start was effected and will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.

Old Villa Boy broke in the score-up, was out of position when the start was effected and will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.

Sebastians Boy was out of position when the start was effected and will continue to be placed right outside the draw in future mobile start events.

No Surprises hung in rounding the final turn and contacted the last marker peg prior to the entrance of the sprint lane.

Buckles ($51) commenced to give ground in the back straight on the final occasion and was beaten 81.8m. Given the gelding’s recent record, Buckles will now be stood down pending the completion of one (1) satisfactory trial. Old Villa Boy was inconvenienced by Buckles and subsequently broke gait when that runner commenced to give ground. Given the circumstances, no action was taken against Old Villa Boy.

Herbert ($151) tired to be beaten 90.6m and will now be placed on his last chance to race competitively.

RACE 4 – MCPHERSON PRINTING GROUP PACE (2190 MS)

A Perfect Dance was out of position when the start was effected and will now be placed on her last chance in the draw.

Puzzle Piece hung out and shifted out under pressure rounding the home turn on the final occasion. Cashflow Cassie, who was trailing Puzzle Piece at the time was able to obtain an inside run and progress through underneath the filly. Cashflow Cassie (Neville Pangrazio) contacted the outside of several marker pegs when progressing through along the peg line, underneath Puzzle Piece. Mr Pangrazio was reminded of his obligations in remaining to the outside of marker pegs. 

The Big End Oftown commenced to yield ground from approx. the 500m. Heston Cash, who was trailing The Big End Oftown at the time was inconvenienced. Heston Cash was then held up for clear running rounding the home turn, before utilizing the sprint lane.

Michael Bellman, driver of Puzzle Piece ($4.40 and gave ground to be beaten 25.5m after leading the event) was questioned regarding the overall performance of the gelding. Mr Bellman explained that despite the gelding being a month between runs and the quicker than average lead time, his expectation was that Puzzle Piece would have finished closer than the final margin. Mr Bellman added that Puzzle Piece would derive benefit from the outing. Puzzle Piece underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

RACE 5 - ALABAR BREEDERS CROWN SERIES 25 (2YO FILLIES) (1ST HEAT) (2190 MS)

Bernie Hewitt, trainer of Jewel Melody was cautioned for not have an assessment certificate available for inspection by Stewards.

Aureus contacted a marker peg rounding the home turn on the final occasion prior to the sprint lane.

Our Princess Di was inconvenienced by the tiring Sweetgamblingrose and was then held up for clear running rounding the home turn on the final occasion behind Paradise Valley.

Paradise Valley ($101) tired to be beaten 52.2m yet Stewards displayed leniency and took no action for the beaten margin owing to the margins between the placings and the quick overall mile rate which resulted in a track record.

Clives Girl ($151) tired to be beaten 54m yet Stewards displayed leniency and took no action for the beaten margin owing to the margins between the placings and the quick overall mile rate which resulted in a track record.

Godsgift ($151) tired to be beaten 69m yet Stewards displayed leniency and took no action for the beaten margin owing to the margins between the placings and the quick overall mile rate which resulted in a track record.

Sweetgamblingrose ($71) tired to be beaten 79.8m yet Stewards displayed leniency and issued a warning for the beaten margin owing to the margins between the placings and the quick overall mile rate which resulted in a track record.

Guaranteed Sweetie ($151) tired to be beaten 103.1m yet Stewards displayed leniency and issued a warning for the beaten margin owing to the margins between the placings and the quick overall mile rate which resulted in a track record.

Tempting Tigress set a new track record.

RACE 6 – ALABAR BREEDERS CROWN SERIES 25 (2YO FILLIES) (2ND HEAT) (2190 MS)

Spring Blue broke under pressure at the entrance of the home straight on the final occasion and will now be placed on her last chance to race truly. The filly underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities. Lizzies Legacy who was trailing Spring Blue at the time was checked and subsequently broke gait.

First Dance ($41) raced greenly throughout and hung in at approx. the 600m before commencing to yield ground in being beaten 55.9m. Given the margins between the placings and the quick overall mile rate which resulted in a track record Stewards displayed leniency and took no action for the beaten margin. First Dance underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Keayang Ladybug was inconvenienced by First Dance, when that runner commenced to tire.

Tin Tin Jo ($151) tired to be beaten 57m. Stewards displayed leniency and took no action for the beaten margin owing to the margins between the placings and the quick overall mile rate which resulted in a track record.

Major Delight set a new track record, and bettered the time set by Tempting Tigress in the previous event.

RACE 7 – ALABAR BREEDERS CROWN SERIES 25 (2YO FILLIES) (3RD HEAT) (2190 MS)

Ozzie Sweet Pea hung out in the score up and then hung out after the start and a warning was issued. The filly then hung out at various stages during the run and a warning was issued.

Mariart raced roughly when racing around the first turn and heading into the back straight on the first occasion.

Surfingmakescents was held up for clear running rounding the home turn on the final occasion before utilizing the sprint lane.

David Miles, driver of Matriart was cautioned for a lack of control for allowing the filly to progress forward and race in close proximity to the helmet of James Herbertson (Delightful Tammy).

RACE 8 – IRT AUSTRALIA BREEDERS CROWN SERIES 25 (2YO COLTS & GELDINGS) (1ST HEAT) (2190 MS)

Brent Lilley, trainer of Hugo Maguire NZ was cautioned for presenting the colt in gear that was not accurately recorded.

Alex Ashwood, trainer of Cheeky Eagle was cautioned for presenting the gelding in gear that was not accurately recorded.

Hugo Maguire NZ was slowly away and a warning was issued. Louie Lou I NZ, who was drawn behind Hugo Maguire NZ on the second row was inconvenienced.

Our Vinnie was held up for clear running rounding the home turn on the final occasion before utilizing the sprint lane.

RACE 9 – IRT AUSTRALIA BREEDERS CROWN SERIES 25 (2YO COLTS & GELDINGS) (2ND HEAT) (2190 MS)

Captains Knock underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of connections having what appeared to be uticaria (hives) across the back region. Captains Knock completed the pre-race preliminary and underwent another examination before being passed fit to start. Captains Knock was subsequently administered treatment for the condition post-event and will now be stood down for a period of (5) five days. Stewards intend to follow-up with connections in the coming days as to the colt’s recovery.

Thenotoriousmacee was out of position when the start was effected and will now be placed on his last chance in the draw. The colt then broke twice in running and given his recent record will now be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one (1) occasion.

David Moran driver of Major Celebrity was fined the sum of $100 under AHRR 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position on the gate until the start was effected.

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT - 10 NOVEMBER 2022

Brad Hewitt, trainer of Captains Knock advised subsequent to the run at Maryborough on 6 November 2022, that the colt had responded well to treatment for uticaria (hives).  Mr.Hewitt stated Captains Knock would continue with the current preparation once fully recovered.

RACE 10 – IRT AUSTRALIA BREEDERS CROWN SERIES 25 (2YO COLTS & GELDINGS) (3RD HEAT) (2190 MS)

Keayang Santiago raced roughly after the start and a warning was issued.

Wheresthestorm (Greg Sugars) pulled hard in the early stages before choking down and being subsequently pulled out of the event at approx. the 1200m. The gelding will now be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one (1) occasion.

Little Louie raced greenly when leading the event.
