Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – ALDEBARAN PARK 2YO MAIDEN TROT (1690 MS)
Start time of 1.36pm was incorrectly advertised in the racebook.
MODERN HOPE – Paced and galloped during the middle stages of the score up and will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races. Inconvenienced at approximately the 500m as Bettor Man galloped shifted out and locked wheels with Amarty.
AMARTY – Checked and locked wheels with Bettor Man at approximately the 500m.
BETTOR MAN – Galloped at the 500m, shifted out and locked wheels with Amarty momentarily. Continued in a gallop and retired from the race. Placed on its last chance to race truly.
RACE 2 –MCPHERSONS PRINTING GROUP CONCESSION DRIVERS TROT(1690 MS)
PRIMZ LUCK NZ – Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the geldings age with no apparent abnormalities detected.
TOUCHANDGO – Held up for clear run rounding the final turn before utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.
WILL PATRICK – Raced roughly during the score up and was out of position at the start and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw.
TETRA – Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the gelding racing on more than 200 previous occasions with no apparent abnormalities detected. Driver Blake Pace was issued with a caution for allowing his upper body to lean back and protrude outside the confines of the sulky over the latter stages.
WISTFUL LADY – Gave ground over the latter stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
CHAMPAGNES – Out of position as the start was effected and will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races. Galloped clear of interference when improving rounding the final turn at approximately the 250m.
RACE 3 – BENSTUD STANDARDBREDS CONCESSION DRIVERS PACE (2190 MS)
ONA MERRY DANCE – Driver Rory Coverdale was fined $100 under Rule 156(3) for applying the whip on more occasions than permissible over the final 200m.
FAKE CULLECTION – Showed gate speed to lead during the early stages. Raced roughly approaching the winning post on the first occasion then relinquished the lead entering the back straight on the first occasion. Continued to race roughly and galloped at the 1300m and again at the 1000m. Given the recent racing manners of the mare and performance, Fake Cullection was stood down for a period of 10 days and until the completion of one satisfactory trial. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
ORCH – Sulky contacted at the 1200m by Quick Decision.
SPECULATOR NZ – Pulled hard middle stages.
KIMCHI – Caught wide during the early stages and restrained to the rear. Worked forward middle stages. Hung in at various stages.
QUICK DECISION – Driver Leilani Justice was cautioned for a lack of control after her drive made contact with the back of driver Riley Pace (Orch) when trailing too close at the 1200m.
RACE 4 – WORLDS BEST HOOF OIL MAIDEN TROT (2190 MS)
FRITCH – Held up for a clear run rounding the home turn then utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.
JOEY BEE – Inconvenienced at the 500m as Alpha Tori commenced to give ground.
RASENGAN – Pulled hard throughout before racing three wide from the 800m.
ALPHA TORI – Out of position at the start and galloped shortly after. Will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races. Commenced to tire in the back straight on the final occasion and was placed on its last chance to race competitively. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was lame on the near hind leg. Stood down until a veterinary clearance is received. Trainer advised the gelding would now be spelled.
MAJESTIC PARTY BOY – Out of position at the start and will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races.
RACE 5 – MARYBOROUGH GOLF CLUB TROT (2190 MS)
AGAINST THE BRIDLE – Hung out throughout while leading and shifted out under pressure rounding the final turn and in the home straight. Taking into consideration the racing manners and recent racing history, the gelding was placed on its last chance to race truly.
COL DU GRANON – Driver Liam Older was fined $100 under Rule 156(7) for allowing his whip to protrude outside the confines of his sulky in the home straight on the final occasion. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into consideration that Mr Older had been cautioned recently after offending in a similar manner recently.
BEACH HEAVEN – Paced during the early stages of the score up and refused to return to its correct gait despite the efforts of its driver. Out of position at the start and was placed out of the draw for future mobile start races. The mare continued to pace and as a result took no competitive part in the race, trailing the field throughout. Given the performance and racing manners, Beach Heaven was stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.
BILLY ZIPPIN – Galloped clear of interference when pulled out to improve at the 300m.
HILLSIDE – Galloped as the start was effected and trailed the field throughout. Placed out of the draw for future mobile start races.
RACE 6 – PETER EGAN BI-RITE ELECTRICAL TROT (1690 MS)
TENSION SEEKER – Slow to begin. Raced roughly at approximately the 500m then dislodged a bell boot shortly after.
COUNTESS CHIRON – Pre race veterinary examination conducted due to the mare having a wound on its right hind limb from an incident prior to arrival on course. Upon inspection, the on course veterinarian was satisfied the injury had no major effect and cleared the mare to race.
TUBS NOW SLIM – Galloped shortly after the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw.
AT THE DISTANCE – Galloped clear of interference at the 400m.
RACE 7 – MARYBOROUGH IGA PACE (2190 MS)
HANOVER JACK – The saddle cloth number worn by the gelding detached during the event and fell to the track at the 1200m.
ACE DUIGAN - Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the geldings age with no apparent abnormalities detected. Raced outside the leader throughout before tiring over the latter stages to be beaten 61m. An inquiry was adjourned into the driving tactics and performance to a date to be determined.
MYNAMEISRUBY – Inconvenienced as Ace Duigan was giving ground at the 500m.
REINER - Tired over the latter stages to be beaten 59m and a warning was issued for a poor performance.
DOOO DON’T THINK – Hung in under pressure when attempting to be shifted out to clear running in the home straight on the final occasion. A warning was issued against the geldings racing manners.
RACE 8 – BLUE PYRENEES WINERY PACE (2190 MS)
NOBLE JULIA – Pulled hard middle stages.
MY BUCKS NIGHT – Connor Clarke not listed as the driver in the racebook. Pulled hard while racing outside the leader.
AMERICAN ALLI – Ryan Duffy not listed as the driver in the racebook. Pulled hard in the score up.
REGAL ROCK NZ – Held up for a clear run rounding the final turn before utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.
BETTORSWEETVICTORY – Held up for a clear run and was unable to be fully tested in the home straight.
