Stewards Report

Mount Gambier – 5th November 2024

The sprint lane was in operation at tonight’s event.

Trainers with multiple runners in any one race provided Stewards with their intentions prior to the event.

RACE 1 – LADBROKES OWN SPRING PACE  - 1780MS

MIKI STEAMED HOME (D Drury) hung inwards near 425 metres inconveniencing SWISS LIGHTNING (L Dunne) and warning issued

RACE 2 – THE PRODUCE STORE PACE  - 1780MS

A warning placed on ALWAYS STEAMED UP (R Shepherd) for being out of position at the start despite efforts of the driver.

Warning placed on EASTBRO ADELE (M Bellman) which galloped turn out of the front straight after the start.

Warning placed on BURNING HOT (B Howard) which galloped entering home straight final occasion.

RACE 3 – PHIL WOOD CATTLE SERVICES PACE – 1780MS

The reinspersons licence of Andrew Clarke (ALORA) suspended 10 days under R163(1)(a)(iii) after pleading guilty to a charge of careless driving by contributing to interference to GRINNING REACTOR (B Howard) when shifting ground outwards near the 400 metres. In assessing penalty Stewards considered plea of guilty, previous driving record and degree of interference in mid-level.

STORMY WOODS (M Phillips) utilised sprint lane to win the race.

RACE 4 – EASTBRO LODGE PACE – 1780MS

IM PRINCESS NELLIE (M Phillips) and HILLDALE SUNRISE (L Cook) jostled for a position leaving front straight after the start and HILLDALE SUNRISE held its place in one out line.

Reinsperson Luke Dunne (STARZINHEREYES) cautioned for allowing his drive to shift ground up the track over concluding stages.

RACE 5  - ANDREW BRUHN SHEETMETAL 2 & 3YO PACE – 1780MS

A warning placed on DARE TO DO (M Phillips) which galloped entering front straight final occasion.

RACE 6 BOB & ZITA MALONEY PACE– 1780MS

Post-race veterinary examination of JENSVILLE as last raced May 2023 and passed fit to race.

SWEET MAJOR (L Dunne) which galloped in score up and took no competitive part in race will be excluded from draw in future mobile barrier start races.

METRO ASSASSIN (Jackie Barker) which galloped shortly after the start will be excluded from draw in future mobile barrier start races.

RACE 7 IAN HURST & PETER BADENOCH PACE – 2190MS

HEZ ALL ROCK Trainer Rebecca East a late scratching at 9.00pm on veterinary advice after escaping from its handler and falling to the ground knocking its head. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.

RACE 8 LADBROKES RACING CLUB TROTTERS HANDICAP– 2190SS

Barrier tapes handheld.

WISTFUL LADY (N O’Connor) refused to move off at the start and was taken in hand by the Clerk of the Course and retired from race. Trainer advised mare excluded from draw and stood down standing start races until it completes a satisfactory trial.
