Stewards Report

Mount Gambier – Saturday 16th March 2024

The sprint lane was in operation at tonights event.

Trainers with multiple runners in any one race provided Stewards with their intentions prior to the event.

RACE 1 – LADBROKES TROTTERS MOBILE – 2190MS

SONARMI JOH (J Barker) hung inwards turn off the back straight second occasion contacted and dislodged a marker peg.

SALUTE TO SUNNY (C Walsh) cast both hind shoes in running.

RACE 2 –  STUCKEY ELECTRICAL PACE – 1780MS

Reinsperson Nicholas Brown (TREACHEROUS SAINT) was fined $100 under R162(1)(y) for whilst leading the first half of the last mile setting a time of 66.3 seconds which is outside the prescribed time of 64 seconds.

RACE 3 – COMMUNITY BANK MOUNT GAMBIER & DISTRICT PACE – 2190MS

CITYSIREN (L Older)  broke gait for no apparent reason home turn on the first occasion and a warning was issued.

RACE 4 – 2024 LADBROKES MOUNT GAMBIER COUNTRY PACING CUP – 2190MS

ROYAL SPEECH (L Cook) paced a little roughly in the early stages of the race.

LETHAL LOUIE (J Finnis) galloped for no apparent reason leaving the front straight on the first occasion and a warning was issued.

LETHAL LOUIE contacted several marker pegs home turn on the second occasion when inclined to lay inwards.

Reinsperson Lochie Cook (ROYAL SPEECH) was informed to modify his whip action.

RACE 5 – 2024 CANNY EVER MOUNT GAMBIER TROTTERS CUP – 2580SS

All barrier tapes were hand held.

OUR SPITFIRE (N Brown) which galloped at the start was placed on its last chance in the draw in future standing start races.

GLORIOUS FINALE (R Barker) galloped near the 400 metres for no apparent reason and a warning was issued.

RACE 6  – 2024 MATTHEWS PETROLEUM MOUNT GAMBIER GOLD CUP – 2590MS

BETTORPATCHMEUP (M Craven) galloped when challenging for the lead leaving the front straight after the start and a warning was issued.

Reinsperson Liam Older (VICTORY GEORGE) was fined $100 under R162(1)(y) for whilst leading the first half of the last mile setting a time of 65.4 seconds which is outside the prescribed time of 64 seconds.

Reinsperson Mark Phillips (HEZ ALL ROCK) was fined $100 under R163A(1) for not having a rein in each hand at the finish of the race.

Reinsperson Jayson Finnis (MY PURPLE PATCH) was fined $100 under R156 (2)(iii)  for using the whip with overt force in the run to the finish.

HEZ ALL ROCK utilised sprint lane to win the race.

RACE 7 – THE SRY SPORTS BAR & BISTRO PACE – 1780MS

HOPPERS DREAM (N Brown) which galloped shortly after the start will be excluded from the draw in future mobile barrier races.

A post race veterinary examination of EXALTED FIGURE (C Walsh) who was eased out of the race in the final lap after giving ground, revealed it had suffered a thumps attack. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to being eligible to race.

A post race veterinary examination of AREUOHKAY (D Drury) which lead in the race to be beaten 48 metres revealed no abnormalities. Reinsperson David Drury reported the gelding was contacting its own sulky and over raced.

RACE 8 – 2024 BLUE LAKE CLASSIC – 1780MS

Stewards took no action against Jayson Finnis (EASTBRO KOZZY) for whilst leading through the first half of the last mile setting a time of 64.7 seconds as it was the colts first win in a race.

BINALONG NIGHT (C Walsh) hung inwards home turn on the final occasion and a warning was issued.

RACE 8 – CITY OF MOUNT GAMBIER PACE – 1780MS

APRILBETTY (L Cook) which broke in the score up and trailed the field thereafter will be excluded from the draw in future mobile barrier races.
