General

Stewards concluded inquiries relating back to Race 4 at Mount Gambier on the 18th November 2025

the BOB & ZITA MALONEY PACE.

In relation to the first incident Stewards questioned drivers M. Phillips (SEA FLYER) and driver A. Clarke (URBADBOY) where it appeared that A. Clarke had moved away from the marker pegs as the field raced through the first turn which resulted in SEA FLYER, who had covered the wheel of URBADBOY, having to race three wide for some distance but was able to restrain and take a trailing position on the back of URBADBOY. After taking evidence from both drivers, viewing the race replays and based on their own observations Steward charged driver A. Clarke under Rule 163(1)(b)(i) which relates to making another horse cover more ground than necessary. After taking submissions on penalty, Stewards suspended the driving licence of A. Clarke for 7 days.

In the second incident, it once again involved drivers M. Phillips (SEA FLYER) and driver A. Clarke (URBADBOY) where it appeared that SEA FLYER may have shifted in and tightened the racing room of URBADBOY causing that runner to race roughly near the 200 metres. After taking evidence from both drivers, viewing the race replays and based on their own observations, it was established that M. Phillips had allowed SEA FLYER to shift in and contact the off side front leg of URBADBOY causing it to be checked and race roughly. Stewards charged driver M. Phillips under Rule 168(1)(a) which relates to carless driving. After taking submissions on penalty, Stewards suspended the driving licence of M. Phillips for 10 days.
