RACE 1  –  ELDERS INSURANCE LAUNCESTON PACE  –  2200m  Mobile

No Racing Incidents

RACE 2  –  LADBROKE IT! STAKES  –  2200m  Mobile

EQUITY STRIDE – Tired badly to be beaten in excess of 110 metres. A subsequent Veterinary examination could find no obvious abnormalities. Stewards deemed the performance well below the required standing, and with the knowledge that the gelding was given a final warning at its most recent start, EQUITY STRIDE was stood down from racing until satisfactorily completing one(1) requalifying trial.

SPACEWRITER – Severely checked and broke gait racing on the first turn when NIL DESPERANDUM galloped. This incident resulted in SPACEWRITER failing to settle, ultimately pulled up by its driver. The circumstances were noted.

NIL DESPERANDUM – Placed on its last chance to race truly after breaking gait free of interference racing into the first turn. Completed the event with a displaced near-side knee boot.

GRIZZLY MONTANA – Subjected to a precautionary pre-race Veterinary examination after giving ground and at its most recent start and a post-race Veterinary examination after that race gave the gelding the benefit of the doubt. On inspection Dr R Blackwell could find no obvious issues with the gelding, and as such GRIZZLY MONTANA was declared fit to take its place in the event.

SHARMEY – Checked when NIL DESPERANDUM broke gait.

MODERN JIVE – Experienced gear issues which resulted in it being late to the parade ring. Checked when NIL DESPERANDUM broke gait.

STORMONT STAR – Checked when NIL DESPERANDUM broke gait. A post-race blood sample was taken for TCO2 analysis.

GALAXY DANCER – Checked when NIL DESPERANDUM broke gait. Hung down the track in the latter stages of the final turn, placing its sulky in behind that of STORMONT STAR. This incident resulted in these two horses racing close together on straightening for the run to the finish, obliging driver N Ford to check away from the wheel STORMONT STAR.

RACE 3  –  LADBROKES FAST WITHDRAWALS PACE  –  2200m  Mobile

DISTINCTIVE STRIDE – Stood down from racing until satisfactorily completing two(2) consecutive requalifying trials after once again performing below the required standard, beaten in excess of 120 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to find any obvious abnormalities.

BETTABLACK TIGER – First registered race start.

PHOTO FIRST – First registered race start. Gave ground over the concluding stages, a warning was issued.

ULTIMATE MOD – Once again gave ground over the concluding stages. Placed on its last chance to race competitively.

MISS DUTTON – Having its first registered race start. Broke gait free of interference racing toward the first turn. Pulled hard for the majority of the event. Raced up into limited space, approaching the 100, despite the efforts of its driver, contacting the sulky of B K WINDERMERE NZ and racing inside markers.

General: Stewards delayed the ‘all-clear’ to review the run to the finish where MISS DUTTON had raced inside markers. Evidence was taken from drivers M Howlett (MISS DUTTON) and D Ford (B K WINDERMERE NZ). Of particular note was driver Howlett’s evidence where he stated that MISS DUTTON was full of running and he could not prevent the first stater from racing into the sulky of B K WINDERMERE NZ. Stewards on review of the footage confirmed their opinion that MISS DUTTON, after contacting the sulky of B K WINDERMERE NZ, shifted inside the marker line and only as a result of driver Ford taking evasive action, was MISS DUTTON afforded clear room to return to the course proper. Stewards acting under AHR Rule 66(h) disqualified MISS DUTTON, deeming the filly had gained an unfair advantage through its intractability, Stewards in reaching this decision were also mindful of other sections of AHR Rule 66 which deals with forcing a passage and racing inside markers. At a subsequent inquiry MISS DUTTON was stood down from racing, due to its intractability, until satisfactorily completing one(1) requalifying trial. Stewards in considering the intractability of MISS DUTTON, not only considered the incident in the home straight, but also the fact MISS DUTTON had broken gait free of interference racing toward the first turn.

RACE 4  –  VIZPIX BROADCAST SERVICES PACE  –  1680m  Mobile

MY ULTIMATE JACKO – Had difficulty in securing clear running over the concluding stages.

KERMADEC – Hung in at times, resulting in its sulky wheel striking markers.

CE PE THREE – Had difficulty in securing clear running over the concluding stages.

BRIAN WHO – Had difficulty in securing clear running over the concluding stages.

RACE 5  –  STACEY LEAR PHOTOGRAPHY STAKES  –  1680m  Mobile

MORE THAN THIS – Had difficulty in securing clear running over the concluding stages.

JUST FOLLOW ME – Tightened for racing room on the first turn as DIDYALOUSAROOSTA hung in.

DIDYALOUSAROOSTA – Hung in when racing wide on the first turn, momentarily tightening JUST FOLLOW ME.

THUNDER SANZ – Held up when full of running contacting the sulky of MISS BARTY.

MISS BARTY – Sulky contacted near the 200 by THUNDER SANZ.

RACE 6  –  FAITHFUL PARK STUD STAKES  –  2200m  Mobile

HORRIE OTARA – Tended to over-race.

KENS CHIPS – Gave ground to be beaten in excess of 60 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination found KENS CHIP to be sore across its lower back. Stewards acting on Veterinary advice stood KENS CHIP down from racing pending a Veterinary clearance.

COVEFFE HUSTLER – Gave ground significantly beaten approximately 250 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination could find no obvious abnormalities. On questioning trainer W Yole could offer no tangible excuse for the mare, acknowledging his disappointment adding he would be reconsidering its racing future. Stewards deemed the performance of COVEFFE HUSTLER below the required standard and as such stood the mare down from racing until satisfactorily completing one(1) requalifying trial.

DEADLY ASSASSIN – Tended to hang in.

RACE 7  –  6TY STAKES  –  1680m  Mobile

SCRUB BASHER – Reinstated in the barrier draw for races conducted under mobile start conditions after satisfying ORI’s reinclusion requirements.

RACE 8  –  LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI PACE  –  2200m  Mobile

ART HUNTSMAN – Winner of its last two(2) starts, gave ground after a relatively easy run, beaten over 30 metres. On questioning, trainer D Eaves acknowledged his disappointment with ART HUNTSMAN, stating that he may have erred in easing the gelding’s workload since it last start a fortnight ago. This theory was supported with signs of fatigue as ART HUNTSMAN had blown up over its back post-race. Stewards noted the evidence as tendered.

UPSIZE ME NZ – Placed on its last chance to race competitively after giving ground to be beaten in excess of 70 metres.

KARALTA ARTEMIS – Excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events breaking gait during the score-up resulting in the gelding being out of position at the start. Raced rough throughout particularly passing the 1600 where it broke gait for a few strides. A post-race Veterinary examination found KARALTA ATREMIS to be lame in the off-foreleg. Stewards acting under Veterinary advice stood KARALTA ARTEMIS down from racing pending a veterinary clearance.
