No Racing Incidents

RACE 2  –  TASFREIGHT RAIDER STAKES HEAT ONE  –  2200m  Mobile

General: Driver R Hillier was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground. This reminder was brought about because of driver Hillier’s movement away from the markers with HERAKLES, prior to entering the back straight on the final occasion, this movement caused MORE THAN THIS to race wide for a short distance.

RACE 3  –  STACEY LEAR PHOTOGRAPHY PACE  –  2200m  Mobile

BETTER KISS ME – Will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events after breaking gait, free of interference, shortly after the start. This incident resulted in the gelding snapping the rear near-side hopple loop, and BETTER KISS ME being retired from the event. The gear was inspected and found to be of acceptable quality.

FEARLESS STRIDE– Placed on its last chance to race competitively after failing to run on over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 40 metres.

RACE 4  –  LADBROKE IT! STAKES  –  1680m  Mobile

YARECKON IM SWEET – Failed to secure clear running over the concluding stages.

MODERN JIVE – Placed on its last chance to race competitively after failing to run on over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 70 metres.

KEAYANG FITZY– A post-race blood sample was taken for TCO2 analysis.

RACE 5  –  FIND US ON FACEBOOK STAKES  –  2200m  Mobile

BOLT OF COBARGO – Pulled hard whilst leading mid-race. Tired badly to be beaten in excess of 110 metres. A subsequent post-race Veterinary Examination failed to find any obvious abnormalities. Stewards deemed the performance of BOLT OF COBARGO below the required standard and as such stood the gelding from racing until satisfactorily completing one(1) requalifying trial.

NAPATTACK SAM – Caught racing wide early, progressing forward to be positioned leading the one-out line after 500 metres. Under pressure leaving the 1000, giving ground over the final 400 to be beaten in excess of 70 metres. A subsequent post-race Veterinary examination failed to find any obvious abnormalities. Stewards gave the benefit of the doubt to NAPATTACK SAM on this occasion, taking no action other than to place a warning on the gelding.

SAPPHIRE GAMBLER – Badly held up for clear running by the tiring BOLT OF COBARGO and NAPATTACK SAM.

CARDINAL SIN NZ – Badly held up for clear running by the tiring BOLT OF COBARGO and NAPATTACK SAM.

General: Driver G Rattray was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground. This reminder was brought about because of driver Rattray’s movement from the one-out, two-back position with JAY MILLER, prior to entering the back straight on the final occasion, this movement caused ITS SUPER EASY NZ to race wide for a short distance.

RACE 6  –  COLLINS HOMES GRANNY SMITH PRELUDE  –  2200m  Mobile

AREYAWATCHINGTHIS – Gave ground over the final stages.

SPOT RULER – Shifted out under pressure approximately 75 metres from the finish.

SWEET AS LOU – Inconvenienced early on the first turn when REELY NAUTI shifted ground.

IDEN LADY LINCOLN – Gave ground over the final stages.

REELY NAUTI – Pulled hard throughout, a warning was issued.

General: At the ‘check-in’, M Yole the driver of the second placed REELY NAUTI, requested the opportunity to review the run to the finish, as he had concerns whether the movement of SPOT RULER late in the home straight had jeopardised his chances of winning. On review, driver Yole did not lodge an objection and as such, Stewards declared “all-clear” on the judge’s numbers: 3-8-1-10-9.

RACE 7  –  NEIL PITTS PTY LTD STAKES  –  1680m  Mobile

MUCHO MOVER – Slow to muster speed after the start was effected.

WILL HE PIKE – Hung in at times.

STORMONT STAR – Out of position at the start, despite the efforts of its driver, a warning was issued. Had difficulty in securing clear running in the run to the finish.

NO NUKES SKIPPER– Late to the parade ring due to gear issues. Had difficulty in securing clear running until well into the home straight in the run to the finish.

General: Driver N Ford was reprimanded for failing to bring MESSERATI up and in position for the start [AHR Rule 162(1)(h)].

RACE 8  –  DAKIN REFRIGERATION GOLDEN MILE  –  1680m  Mobile

JAMES CAGNEY NZ – Tired badly from the 900, beaten in excess of 350 metres. A subsequent post-race Veterinary examination failed to find any obvious abnormalities. Stewards deemed the performance of JAMES CAGNEY NZ well below the required standard and as such stood the gelding from racing until satisfactorily completing two(2) consecutive requalifying trials. Stewards in imposing this embargo were mindful of JAMES CAGNEY NZ’s recent record. On questioning, connections could offer no excuses nor explanation for the performance of JAMES CAGNEY NZ, adding it is their intention to immediately spell the gelding.

MESSERATI – Out of position when the start was effected.

RACE 9  –  TASFREIGHT RAIDER STAKES HEAT TWO  –  2200m  Mobile

General: The start of this race was delayed approximately one(1) minute due to a shoeing adjustment on KARALTA ARTEMIS before leaving the parade ring.

SOKYS LINE – Withstood an early challenge for the lead from KARALTA ARTEMIS and then failed to settle, over-racing and pulling hard, particularly mid-race. Gave ground to be beaten in excess of 40 metres. On questioning trainer/driver T Rattray informed Stewards that he was extremely disappointed with the performance of SOKYS LINE, believing the gelding is a much better horse than that on display in tonight’s event as its record shows. Mr Rattray added he believes a change of gear, in particular head gear, would assist in allowing the gelding to settle. Stewards, on referring to SOKYS LINE’s record gave the benefit of the doubt to the gelding, taking no action other than to note the evidence as tendered.

KOSYGIN LEIS - Gave ground to be beaten in excess of 40 metres. On questioning trainer T Rattray informed Stewards that he was somewhat disappointed with the performance of KOSYGIN LEIS although added that the gelding is not up to this grade of horse at this stage of its preparation. Stewards noted the evidence.

RACE 10  –  LADBROKES BLACKBOOK PACE  –  2200m  Mobile

INDELIBLE – Withstood early challenge for the lead.

PUNTARNO STRIDE NZ – Unsuccessful challenge for the lead. Restrained to trail leader approaching the 1900. Raced rough leaving the 500.

KHAKI NUI NZ – Sulky contacted approaching the 300.

JEREMY WELLS NZ – Pulled hard. Contacted the sulky of KHAKI NUI NZ approaching the 300.

RACKETEERS BOY NZ – Tightened and raced rough early on the first turn.

General: Stewards questioned drivers M Ford (PUNTARNO STRIDE NZ) and K Williams (RACKETEERS BOY NZ) into the reason why RACKETEERS BOY NZ raced rough early on the first turn. Stewards, after taking evidence from the drivers, reviewing the official race footage, and acting on their own observation, charged driver Ford, alleging he had driven carelessly when manoeuvring in behind the leader INDELIBLE, when insufficiently clear of RACKETEERS BOY NZ, which was racing to his inside, at his wheel. This movement into the marker line obliged driver Williams to check RACKETEERS BOY NZ, resulting it racing rough. Driver Ford pled guilty to the charge, and was subsequently fined $300. Stewards in assessing penalty were mindful of driver Ford’s record for similar breaches, his guilty plea, and the way he presented his evidence [AHR Rule 168(1)(a)].
