RACE 1  –  LADBROKES BLACKBOOK STAKES  –  2200m  Mobile

DUCANE – Led the event, only to give ground over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 70 metres. A routine post-race Veterinary examination found no obvious indicators which may help explain the below par performance. On questioning, connections were at a loss to explain the performance, indicating the gelding had worked well since its last performance. Further, connections indicated they would have DUCANE examined by their Veterinary Surgeon, including having blood work done. Stewards accepted the undertakings of connections, taking no action other than to note the circumstances and to instruct the connections that should anything come to light which may help explain the performance they were to notify the Offices of Racing Integrity Stewards at their earliest convenience.

ALL ABOUT IVY – Worked forward from the start to be positioned leading the one-out line. Obtained cover near the 1600.  Tended to hang in.

RACE 3  –   LADBROKES RACING CLUB PACE  –  1680m  Mobile

KOZACZYNSKI – Gave ground over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 60 metres, albeit with an individual mile rate of 2:01.5. Cast an off-hind plate during the event. A routine post-race Veterinary examination found no obvious abnormalities. Connections confirmed that the performance tonight was consistent with its better performances, adding where possible will be look for more appropriate races.

DARE YOU TO MOVE – Worked forward from the start, left racing wide for the first 800 metres. Gave ground over the final stages, beaten in excess of 60 metres. A routine post-race Veterinary examination found no obvious issues. Stewards in assessing the performance gave the benefit of the doubt based on racing wide and this being the first registered race start for seven(7) months.

MAJOR IDEAL – Back from its allotted position at the start, driver N Ford was reminded of his obligations in having his drive on the gate until the start is effected. Gave ground over the concluding stages beaten in excess of 60 metres, albeit with an individual mile rate of 2:01.4. A routine post-race Veterinary examination found no obvious abnormalities. Connections confirmed that the performance tonight was consistent with its better performances, adding where possible will look for more appropriate races.

On questioning, trainer D Braun firstly stated that he felt GROVE DALE was wrongly assessed in the betting market adding he was not overly disappointed with the performance particularly considering the early speed which left GROVE DALE wanting over the latter stages, trainer Braun further stated that he would be looking to have GROVE DALE driven with cover in the future wherever possible.

Stewards gave the benefit of the doubt on this occasion however reminded driver Hillier of his obligations in having his drive on the gate until the start is effected, suggesting that when drawn wide he needs to be in position early in the score-up.

Supplementary Report: Hobart Friday 29th November, 2024 – Race 4 NANCYS HOPE

Connections of NANCYS HOPE contacted Stewards reporting they had had the mare examined by their Veterinary Surgeon after performing so poorly. The examination, which included scans, showed NANCYS HOPE was badly in season, with other clinical issues detected. Connections although originally felt a spell would be in the best interest of the mare, the Veterinary advice was to give her a light week, but return her to full work shortly after. Connections will act under the Veterinary advice, however, will monitor NANCYS HOPE’s progress, and will not nominate the mare until confident she can perform in the required manner.
