RACE 1  –  6TY YOUNGBLOODS HEAT ONE–  1680m  Mobile

DANGER PLAY – Hung in on the first turn, resulting in its sulky wheel striking markers.

FLO JO CARVALHO – Raced outside the leader throughout until giving ground from the 300. A post-race Veterinary inspection found FLO JO CARVALHO to have a poor post-race recovery. On questioning, trainer R Hillier expressed his disappointment with the mare, indicating he would have blood work carried out, and would not start her again until she had shown signs that she would be more competitive. Stewards accepted the undertakings of trainer Hillier, taking no action other than to note the circumstances and instruct trainer Hiller to inform Stewards of anything that may come to light, either through the blood analysis or otherwise which may help explain the under-par performance.

RACE 2  –   BRIAN 'DAVO' DAVIDSON MEMORIAL–  1680m  Mobile

INDELIBLE – Shifted ground on straightening for the run to the finish resulting in its sulky wheel striking a marker.

ANDAMAN BAY – Completed the event with a flat off-side sulky tyre. On leaving the track blood was detected under the knee boots, particularly the near-side. A veterinary inspection revealed signs of significant rubbing. Stewards acting under Veterinary advice stood ANDAMAN BAY down from racing for a period of ten(10) days.

MAJOR DAVVIN – Tended to over-race, raced up on the back of ANDAMAN BAY at times.

RACE 3  –   LADBROKES GOLDEN SLIPPER–  1680m  Mobile

General: Trainer O Weidenbach was fined $100 for the late notification of the driving change on GRIMSHAW BAY [AHR Rule 210].

SHEZALLLOLLIES – Hung in leaving the back straight on the final occasion, contacting the sulky wheel of UNMATCHED which had shifted out when checked by its driver. Of note, SMILING MIA which had improved to its outside had shifted in following its movement closer to the markers, reducing the racing room of SHEZALLLOLLIES.

UNMATCHED – Shifted in midway along the backstraight on the final occasion and when checked by its driver eased up the track, contributing to the reduction in racing room of SHEZALLLOLLIES. These combined movements resulted in SHEZALLLOLLIES contacting the sulky wheel of UNMATCHED and subsequently race rough.

OURTIGER – Tightened and raced rough shortly after the start when BAROOGA BOOMER shifted in racing roughly. Sulky contacted near the 1100 by VINNI THE GANGSTER.

BAROOGA BOOMER – Shifted in shortly after the start and raced rough.

OUR WILLOW – Raced green and raced rough in the score-up. Gave ground over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 50 metres with an individual time of 2:02.6. Stewards intend to contact trainer L Rand over the ensuing days to discuss the condition of the mare.

SMILING MIA – Shifted in entering the final turn, contributing to the tightening of SHEZALLLOLLIES. Carried a flat off-side tyre from this point when struck by MANINKY MOONSHINE

VINNI THE GANGSTER – Will be excluded from the barrier draw in mobile start events after being fractious on leaving the pre-race circle, requiring assistance from an attendant. This resulted in the gelding failing to fill its allotted position at the start. On note, VINNI THE GANGSTER was issued with a warning for similar issues at its only other registered race start. On questioning trainer K Butler informed Stewards that she has been happy with VINNI THE GANGSTER progression of late, indicating that the gelding had been a problem horse early in its preparation. Further, trainer Butler informed Stewards VINNI THE GANGSTER will be immediately turned out, believing the gelding will benefit from a spell, possibly 6 – 8 weeks.

MANINKY MOONSHINE – Raced wide along the back straight on the final occasion, contacting the sulky wheel of SMILING MIA entering the final turn. Stewards on review of this incident and the racing leading up to such, took no action other than to note the circumstances, as movement from a number of runners all contributed to the incident.

GRIMSHAW BAY – Hung in under pressure in the run to the finish.

RACE 4  –  6TY YOUNGBLOODS HEAT TWO–  2200m  Mobile

JUSTIFY – Had difficulty in securing clear running until well into the home straight in the run to the finish.

GYPSY AMOUR – Gave ground after leading to be beaten in excess of 80 metres, recording an individual time of 2:03.6. A post-race Veterinary examination found no obvious abnormalities. Stewards intend to contact trainer L Rand over the ensuing days to discuss the condition of the mare.

SPACEWRITER – Had difficulty in securing clear running until well into the home straight in the run to the finish.

RACE 5  –  6TY BANDBOX–  2200m  Mobile

SHES A TINY DANCER – Raced over markers over the final stages. Driver M Ford reported a malfunction of gear, that being, the end of the near-side lugging pole caught in the ring of its extension bit.

SWIATEK LEIS – Caught wide for the majority of the first lap before working forward, securing the lead.

MISS DUTTON – Caught wide for the majority of the first lap before working forward securing the position leading the one-out line.

General: At the check-in, T Rattray the driver of SWIATEK LEIS, placed third by the judge, requested the opportunity to review the official race footage of the closing stages. On review driver Rattray lodged a protest against SHES A TINY DANCER (M Ford), which was placed second, alleging that the filly had gained an unfair advantage by racing inside markers over the final stages of the home straight in the run to the finish. Stewards, after taking evidence from both drivers, reviewing the official race footage and on considering their own observations, not only upheld the protest, but acting under the provisions of AHR Rule 66(h) disqualified SHES A TINY DANCER from its amended third placing, and further amended the placings to 9-5-2-1-7.  An official announcement was made to this effect.

General: At a subsequent inquiry regarding the incident and the overall handling of SHES A TINY DANCER, driver M Ford stated that he had difficulty during the event due to a gear malfunction, that being the tip of the lugging pole caught in the ring of the extension bit, making the filly hard to control, both in steering and restraining. Stewards on review of the official race footage, and on considering their own observations, could not accept the evidence as tendered, believing driver Ford had displayed that racing toward the final turn he had moved away from the inside line with ease, before again moving back to the inside, which placed SHES A TINY DANCER in a pocket. Further, on leaving the 150, he failed, or at least failed to attempt, to keep SHE A TINY DANCER on the course proper, allowing her to race to the inside of SWIATEK LEIS and over markers. Stewards after considering all before them charged driver Ford under the provisions of AHR Rule 149(2) alleging that he had driven in a manner, that in the opinion of Stewards was unacceptable. Driver Ford, after taking a short break after being charged, requested that the inquiry be adjourned, so that he could seek advice from Tas Racing’s driver advocate Mr Neville Webberley. Stewards granted the request. The inquiry will continue at a time and date to be fixed.

RACE 6  –  NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS TASSIE GOLDEN APPLE–  2200m  Stand

JAMES IN CHARGE – Racing in restricted room after trying to ease wider off the back of the leader, WE SALUTE YOU leaving the 500. Contributing to this was the fact PARDOE PLUGGA, was racing on one rein entering the final turn. The combined movements resulted in JAMES IN CHARGE and PARDOE PLUGGA coming together with JAMES IN CHARGE breaking gait after contacting PARDOE PLUGGA’s sulky wheel with its off-hind leg. Stewards, on reviewing the incident, gave the benefit of the doubt to all concerned on this occasion, taking no action other than to note the circumstances. It was noted JAMES IN CHARGE completed the event with a broken breast plate.

COLBY SANZ – Tightened and subsequently checked on entering the home straight for the run to the finish, as were a number of runners, when WE SALUTE YOU and PARDOE PLUGGA locked wheels.

JUST TIGER – Will be excluded from the barrier draw after failing to begin in the required manner. Of note, JUST TIGER was placed on its last chance in the draw at its most recent standing start. Tightened and subsequently checked on entering the home straight for the run to the finish, as were a number of runners, when WE SALUTE YOU and PARDOE PLUGGA locked wheels.

WE SALUTE YOU – Under pressure from the 400, although holding its own, locked wheels with PARDOE PLUGGA after that gelding hung in.

PARDOE PLUGGA – Hung in entering the final turn resulting in the gelding coming together with JAMES IN CHARGE, and again shortly before entering the home straight for the run to the finish, with this resulting in a locking of wheels with WE SALUTE YOU. A warning was issued.

STEPPING STONES – Placed on its last chance in the standing start draw after failing to begin in the required manner. Tightened on entering the home straight for the run to the finish, as were a number of runners, when WE SALUTE YOU and PARDOE PLUGGA locked wheels.

MAGNETIC TERROR NZ – Will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in standing start events after failing to begin in the required manner. Tightened when entering the home straight for the run to the finish, as were a number of runners, when WE SALUTE YOU and PARDOE PLUGGA locked wheels.

KEAYANG FITZY – Placed on its last chance in the standing start draw after failing to begin in the required manner.

RACE 7  –  NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS GLOBE DERBY.  –  2200m  Mobile

SMOOTH MACHETE – Tightened for racing room on the first turn after the leader, VINCENZO, was returned to the inside racing line after being allowed to shift out. This incident resulted in SMOOTH MACHETE racing roughly. Had difficulty in securing clear running over the concluding stages.

VINCENZO – Shifted ground on the first turn, resulting in a tightening to SMOOTH MACHETE. Failed to secure clear running over the concluding stages.

CUSTOM HARLEY – Caught racing wide early, worked forward, securing the lead passing the 1600.

ROCK AMOUR – Gave ground over the concluding stages beaten in excess of 50 metres with an individual time of 2:03.0. Stewards intend to contact trainer L Rand over the ensuing days to discuss the condition of the mare.

SERIOUSLY SAM – Failed to secure clear running over the concluding stages.

General: At the check-in, B Davis, the driver of SMOOTH MACHETE, requested the opportunity to review the official race footage, in particular the first turn where SMOOTH MACHETE raced rough. On review, together with Tas Racing Concession driver Advocate Mr N Webberley, driver Davis lodged no objection.

General: Stewards questioned driver B Davis (SMOOTH MACHETE) and J Watson (VINCENZO) into the reason why SMOOTH MACHETE raced rough mid-way through the first turn. Stewards after taking evidence from the drivers, reviewing the official race footage and on considering their own observations charged driver Watson for driving in a careless manner by way of, after allowing VINCENZO to shift wider on the track, he carelessly brought his gelding back down to a marker peg position when insufficiently clear of the front legs of SMOOTH MACHETE, causing that colt to race rough. Driver Watson pled guilty to the charge and Stewards after referring to his record and considering his guilty plea, fined driver Watson $300 [AHR Rule 168(1)(a)].

RACE 8  –  LEES ORCHARD GOLDEN GIRLS–  2200m  Mobile

IDEN LADY LINCOLN – Hung out in the score-up, inconveniencing THE IRON LADY NZ.

THE IRON LADY NZ – Inconvenienced in the score-up when IDEN LADY LINCOLN hung out.

RACE 9  –  6TY YOUNGBLOODS HEAT THREE–  2200m  Mobile

SWIMINTHERIVER NZ – Inconvenienced when being passed tight by FLEETWOOD ROCK resulting in a locking of wheels near the 250.

FLEETWOOD ROCK – Locked wheels with SWIMINTHERIVER NZ when passing that gelding near the 250. Stewards gave the benefit of the doubt to driver G Jones as to whether she could have avoided this incident.

MISTER FINNIGAN – Inconvenienced when MAJOR LESTER shifted in midway down the home straight in the run to the finish.

MAJOR LESTER – Shifted in under pressure midway down the home straight in the run to the finish.

RACE 10  –  6TY YOUNGBLOODS HEAT FOUR–  2200m  Mobile

OCTAGONISE – Out of its allotted barrier position prior to the start.

General: Driver B Davis was reprimanded for failing to remain in his allotted barrier position until the start was effected by easing wider on the track to start from barrier two(2) on the second row, rather than on the inside marker line [AHR Rule 162(1)(f)].
