STEWARDS REPORT FOR KILMORE

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 – RICH RIVER GOLF CLUB - THE PERFECT DESTINATION FOR YOUR NEXT GOLF TRIP PACE (2180 MS)

Pre and post-race veterinary examinations was conducted on Ideal Investment under the HRV horse welfare policy, due to the gelding racing on more than 200 previous occasions with no obvious abnormalities detected.

Live For Peace raced roughly clear of interference when Trembita challenged and crossed to the lead leaving the front straight on the first occasion. Live For Peace raced roughly again under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinarian examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Driver Taylor Youl started that in her opinion Live For Peace had contacted its shin on a number of occasions which resulted in the gelding racing roughly.

Driver George Chamouras (Kickatinalong NZ) was issued with a caution for his lack of control after he removed his left hand from the rein to remove the ear plugs entering the back straight on the final occasion resulting in Kickatinalong NZ veering outwards.

Kickatinalong NZ tired to be beaten approximately 70 metres. Driver George Chamouras report that the gelding appeared to display some abnormal respiratory noises and had crossfired during the race.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities, and a warning was issued for a poor performance.

 

 

RACE 2 VHRC / ALDEBARAN PARK BENEFITING OUR MEMBERS 2YO VICBRED MAIDEN TROT (2180 MS)

Vici Bloom galloped as the start was affected and will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races.

Focus commenced to race roughly in the back straight on the final occasion and galloped under pressure at the 400 metres.

Muscle Miss galloped under pressure in the home straight.

RACE 3 – VHRC / ALDEBARAN PARK BENEFITING OUR MEMBERS 2YO VICBRED MAIDEN TROT (2180 MS)

Kyvalley Archer paced and galloped rounding the turn out of the front straight on the first occasion. Kyvalley Archer galloped again under pressure at approximately the 200 metres. Given the geldings racing manners, Kyvalley Archer will be given one last chance to race truly.

Wyldcat hung in while racing outside the leader throughout in the back straight on the final occasion. Wyldcat then raced roughly before galloping clear of interference at the 400 metres. A warning was issued against the geldings racing manners.

It was note that Salski hung in and contacted marker pegs at approximately the 900 metres.

RACE 4 –VHRC / ALDEBARAN PARK BENEFITING OUR MEMBERS TROT (1690 MS)

Trainer Matthew Gath (Mulberry Pie) was caution for failing to provide the registration assessment certificate for inspection of this mare.

Luna raced roughly during the score up, was out of position at the start, and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

Lady Lil galloped in the score up, was out of position at the start and was placed outside the draw for future mobile start races.

Lady Lil galloped clear of interference approaching the turn out of the back straight on the first occasion. Given the mare’s recent racing record, Lady Lil will be given one last chance to race truly.

Astro galloped clear of interference at the 500 metres. Given its recent racing manners, the gelding will be given one last chance to race truly.

Rounding the final turn Vincent Kai hung in under pressure.

Entering the home straight on the final occasion Tetra contacting the offside sulky wheel of Wicked Liquor and galloped. Upon review it was established that Mulberry Pie improved off the pegline shifting Skyrita slightly wider towards Vincent Kai which was hanging in. When corrected outwards, Vincent Kia shifted out wider than necessary which inconvenienced Wicked Liquor out onto Tetra. Given its racing manners, a warning was issued against Vincent Kai.

RACE 5 -BENSTUD STANDARDBREDS 3YO PACE (2180 MS)

Driver Jackie Barker (Vapar Brenda) was caution for easing the paced in the back straight on the first occasion after unsuccessfully challenging for the lead. This resulted in trailing runner Leave Your Hat On being inconvenienced. Driver Rebecca Bartley (Leave Your Hat On) was also cautioned for shifting ground after she directed her drive around Vapar Brenda which resulted in Upsize Me NZ being inconvenienced.

General Lincoln tired to be beaten 62 metres. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed a slower than normal recovery rate however no other obvious abnormalities were detected. Trainer/driver Sergio Lenardi was questioned regarding the performance. Mr. Lenardi stated that General Lincoln had failed to settle and pulled hard after relinquishing the lead during the middle stages. A warning was issued against the gelding for a poor performance.

Driver Sergio Lenardi (General Lincoln) was cautioned for applying the whip to his drive while out of contention over the final 400 metres.

RACE 6 – VHRC / ALDEBARAN PARK BENEFITING OUR MEMBERS TROT (2180 MS)

Star Down Under was a late scratching at 9.34am on veterinary advice.

Michael Bellman failed to appear in the race book as the driver of Stingofawasp.

Greg Sugars failed to appear in the race book as the driver of Sertorius NZ.

Trainer Chris Angove (Ebonys Avenger/Stingofawasp) was cautioned for failing to notify the intended tactics of both runners having dual runners engaged in the race.

Firengrace was out of position at the start despite the driver’s efforts and will continue out of the draw in future mobile start races.

Stingofawasp which showed initial gate speed, galloped after the start, and was placed outside the draw for future mobile start races.

RACE 7 – BECOME A VHRC MEMBER TODAY PACE (2180 MS)

Madame Annie underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to a near foreleg infection which had resulted in the mare not racing since January 2022. Madame Annie was cleared of an obvious abnormality.

Driver Greg Sugars (The Huntress) was cautioned for failing to make sufficient effort to ensure the filly remained in its barrier position prior to the start.

Driver Taylor Youl (Rockntommy Rulz NZ) was cautioned for failing to make sufficient effort to ensure the gelding remained in its barrier position prior to the start.

Driver Corey Bell (Madame Annie) was cautioned for failing to make sufficient effort to ensure the mare remained in its barrier position prior to the start.

Gipsy Princess pulled hard while racing behind the leader throughout.

Illawong Jovial hung in under pressure rounding the final turn and contacted marker pegs.

RACE 8 – YEOMANS SLATE & STONE PACE (2180 MS)

Trainer Ben Yole (Janjuc) was cautioned after the mare was presented late into the parade ring prior to the race.
 

Duffy Hollow NZ raced roughly shortly after the start and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

Rainbowsend pulled hard while leading throughout.

Sinister was held up and was unable to obtain a clear run over the concluding stages.

RACE 9– APG OFFERS $2.2M IN PRIZEMONEY PACE (2180 MS)

Pre and post-race veterinary examinations were conducted on Mach Charm under the HRV welfare policy due to the mare racing on more than 200 previous occasions.

Both examinations cleared the mare of any obvious abnormalities.

Robert Walters (Mach Charm) was fined $100 under Rule168(1)(a) for careless driving in that he failed to restrain Mach Charm sufficiently to avoid making contact with the sulky of Betterthenflyhigh approaching the 1100 metres resulting in Mach Charm galloping. Trailing runners Presidentslastlady and Righteously which were trailing Mach Charm were both inconvenienced. When assessing the incident, Stewards took into consideration the racing manners of Mach Charm which had a tendency to pull hard throughout.

Driver Ryan Duffy (Icanmoror) was found guilty of a charge under Rule163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference. The particulars of the charge being that at approximately the 300 metres, Mr Duffy directed his drive outwards resulting in interference to Betterthenflyhigh (Glenn Bull) which contacted the sulky wheel of Icanmotor and Betterthenflyhigh was checked and galloped as a result. Mr Duffy initially plead guilty to the charge however later retracted his initial plea and entered a not guilty plea. After hearing further submissions, Stewards found Mr Duffy guilty as charged and Mr Duffy’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 10 days. In assessing penalty, stewards took into consideration the HRV minimum penalty guidelines, his not guilty plea and the interference which was considered mid range. Stewards also took into consideration Mr Duffy’s good driving record in relation to this rule. A start date is yet to be advised.

Mach Charm pulled hard during the middle stages.

Safe Jewels pulled hard throughout while leading and tired to be beaten 54 metres. It was noted that the anti choking device had slipped during the race. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. A warning was issued for a poor performance

Boak was inconvenienced and held up for a clear run behind Safe Jewels as it commenced to give ground rounding the final turn.

RACE 10 – APG - SERVING THE INDUSTRY FOR 32 YEARS PACE (1690 MS)

Driver Declan Murphy (Shaq) was issued with a caution for failing to ensure that the gelding was fully in its position at the start.

Ubetcha was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn.

Stewards inquired into the reasons Mystic Castle galloped rounding the final turn. Driver Lisa Miles stated that she had directed Mystic Castle inwards to improve onto the back of Darbyminga and to the inside of Shaq after that runner commenced to race under pressure. Coveffe Hustler also shifted out slightly as Mystic Castle improved and attempted to trail Darbyminga. With some room becoming available, driver Kevin Jnr Weidenbach (Ubetcha) commenced to shift away from the pegline which placed Coveffe Hustler and Mystic Castle in tight racing room and Mystic Castle galloped. In assessing the matter stewards took into consideration the contributing factors from all runners and driver Kevin Jnr Weidenbach was issued with a cautioned for shifting ground on this occasion.

Hair Razor shifted out under pressure in the home straight and a warning was issued against the geldings racing manners.

It was noted that Coveffe Hustler completed the race with a flat tyre.

RACE 11 – ALABAR VICBRED PLATINUM MAIDEN PACE (1690 MS)

Pre and post -race veterinarian examination was conducted on Keayang Speak under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding not racing since September 2021. Both inspections cleared Keayang Speak of any obvious abnormalities.

Abby Sanderson failed to appear in the race book as the driver of All Saints Beach.

Yering Rose was out of position at the start despite the efforts of its driver and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

Driver Robert Walters (Cantseemee) was cautioned for allowing his right foot to drop from the sulky footrest when activating the pull up blinds on Cantseeme leaving the back straight on the final occasion.

James Herbertson (Social Writer) was fined $100 under Rule156(3) for his unapproved whip use after he applied the whip to his horse on more occasions than permitted over the final 200 metres.

It was reported that Sparkling Sue completed the race with a flat right-side sulky tyre.
