STEWARDS REPORT FOR KILMORE

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY / VHRC - ALDEBARAN PARK 3YO MAIDEN TROT (2180 MS)

A false start was declared at the first attempt due to an operational error shortly after the start was affected.

Stellar Strut was out of position during the initial score up and again at the restart and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

Blondies Blis galloped during the score up at the first attempt then was out of position at the restart and will continue out of the draw in future mobile start races.

Racing into the back straight on the first occasion Tranquil Bill galloped while racing in restricted room between Rarity Rock and Saint Sebastian which was improving three wide. Trailing runner Hurricane Jane was checked and Stellar Strut was also inconvenienced. Tranquil Bill then trailed the field for the remainder of the race.

Hold That Gold hung in and contacted marker pegs while leading at the 400m.

Mercury Mate galloped under pressure on entering the home straight on the final occasion.

It was noted that Sir Ed pulled hard while racing in a trailing position in the one out line during the middle stages.

Driver David Murphy (Saint Sebastian) was fined $100 under Rule 156(3) for his unapproved whip use in that he applied the whip on more occasions than permitted over the final 200m.

Blondies Blis tired over the latter stages to be beaten 59m and a warning was issued for a poor performance.

RACE 2 MC SECURITY / VHRC - ALDEBARAN PARK TROT (2180 MS)

Spotlight hung in during the score up and was out of position at the start and will continue out of the draw in future mobile start races.

Paris Faith galloped rounding the turn out of the front straight on the first occasion, given its recent racing record a warning was issued. A post-race veterinary examination was conducted on Paris Faith. Dr Simon Bray reported the mare had a superficial laceration to the near fore coronet band and was subsequently stood down for a period of 7 days on veterinary advice.

RACE 3 – APG VIC GOLD SOVEREIGN (3YO COLTS & GELDINGS) (1ST HEAT) (1690 MS)

Pre-race blood samples from Interest Free were aborted after unsuccessful attempts by the club veterinarian.

Barra Mac raced roughly under pressure approaching the 400m as it commenced to tire to be beaten 60m. Considering the winning mile rate of 1:53.8 and margins no action was taken against the performance.

RACE 4 – APG VIC GOLD SOVEREIGN (3YO COLTS & GELDINGS) (2ND HEAT) (1690 MS)

Khafaji galloped clear of interference leaving the back straight on the first occasion and locked wheels with Big Bad Ossie which was severely check. Torpedo Bart, which was trailing, was checked and galloped. Jawsoflincoln was inconvenienced and improved three wide around those runners. Khafaji, Big Bad Ossie and Torpedo Bart all trailed the field for the majority of the race. Khafaji will be given one last chance to race truly.

Driver Rodney Lakey (Ooga Chaka) was questioned regarding the performance and tactics adopted on this gelding during the early stages after unsuccessfully challenging Brutally Handsome for the lead. Mr Lakey then attempted to restrain the gelding however remained on level terms outside the leader throughout. Ooga Chaka finished in 4th placing beaten 19.5m. Mr Lakey advised that he was instructed by connections to drive Ooga Chaka in a forward position and when unable to cross Brutally Handsome during the early stages he attempted to restrain to receive cover however Ooga Chaka over-raced and failed to settle. Mr Lakey added that the tongue tie had broken during the race which may have contributed to the geldings tractability. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Considering the racing manners of Ooga Chaka a warning was issued on this occasion.

RACE 5 - JACK KNIGHT MEMORIAL 2022 / VHRC PACE (1690 MS)

Trainer Matthew Craven (Lochart Shard NZ and Sweetpassion) was cautioned for failing to advise of his intended tactics on both runners engaged in this race.

The start of this race was delayed due to a gear adjustment required on Lochart Shard NZ.

Lochart Shard NZ hung out during the score up and was slow to begin inconveniencing trailing runner Van Neikerk NZ. A warning was issued against the barrier manners of Lochart Shard NZ.

Bobsled Boy galloped during the early stages of the score up before regaining its barrier position prior to the start and a warning was issued against its barrier manners.

Gilty By The Beach was out of position at the start and will continue out of the draw in future mobile start races.

Rounding the final turn Lochart Shard NZ hung in under pressure and contacted marker pegs.

RACE 6 – JP MCKAY MEMORIAL 2022 / VHRC - ALDEBARAN PARK TROT (2180 MS)

Aldebaran Belle NZ will remain out of the draw for future mobile start races at the request of the trainer.

Downunder Barkers refused to score up during the early stages and was out of position at the start. This gelding was placed out of the draw for future mobile start races.

Fields Of Kyvalley galloped as the start was affected and was placed out of the draw for future mobile start races.

Approaching the 1200m Downunder Barkers galloped clear of interference and trailed the field thereafter. A warning was issued given its recent racing record.

Rounding the final turn Tipsy Turvy hung in under pressure when challenging Egret resulting in Egret being tightened and contacting a marker peg.

Egret hung in under pressure in the home straight. driver Nathan Jack was issued with a caution for failing to make sufficient effort to remove the filly from the sprint lane.

Fields Of Kyvalley galloped at the 1000m while trailing the field.

RACE 7 – APG PACE (1690 MS)

Pre and post-race veterinary examinations were conducted on Good Feelings under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding racing on more than 200 previous occasions. Both examinations cleared the gelding of any obvious abnormalities.

Regality was examined by the club veterinarian post-race due to blood being present in the right nostril and under Rule 101B(2) Regality was stood down until it completes one satisfactory trial.

RACE 8 DICK BARBER MEMORIAL 2022 / APG PACE (1690 MS)

Fly Bye Eden raced roughly under pressure when improving three wide rounding the final turn.

RACE 9 – APG VIC GOLD SOVEREIGN (3YO FILLIES) (HEAT) (1690 MS)

Just Miki pulled hard during the early and middle stages when racing outside the leader.

RACE 10 – GIANNI MIFSUD MEMORIAL 2022 / VHRC - ALDEBARAN PARK 2YO VICBRED MAIDEN TROT (2180 MS)

Vici Bloom was slow to begin.

Your Kidding galloped as the start was affected and was placed out of the draw in future mobile start races.

Approaching the 800m Aldebaran Freda galloped clear of interference.

Your Kidding hung in under pressure rounding the final turn and contacted marker pegs.

Stevie Gee shifted out under pressure while clear of the field in the home straight.

RACE 11 – VHRC - ALDEBARAN PARK TROT (2180 MS)

Greg Sugars failed to appear in the racebook as the driver of Dazy Sundaze.

Driver Michael Cole (Dicko Dixon) was issued a caution for his starting position after approaching the mobile barrier during the early stages of the score up in the incorrect barrier position. In not taking more severe action, stewards considered that Mr Cole recognised and rectified the error without intervention from the starter and no delay or interference was caused.

Mielicki and Meadowvalley Lover, which were out of position at the start, will continue out of the draw in future mobile start races.

Krakuer galloped shortly after the start and will continue out of the draw in future mobile start races.

Buslin Brody galloped clear of interference leaving the front straight on the first occasion.

Leaving the turn out of the front straight on the first occasion Dazy Sundaze galloped resulting in trailing runner Krakuer being checked and galloping. Dazy Sundaze galloped again at the 1200m. Considering the recent racing record of this mare Dazy Sundaze was stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

Driver Luke Bryant (Violetta Gift) was cautioned for allowing his drive to shift in and contact marker pegs rounding the final turn.
