STEWARDS REPORT FOR HORSHAM

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 – ZILCO 4YO & OLDER MAIDEN PACE (2200 MS)

SIR NIPPA – Hampered shortly after the start when ASHANTE PRINCE galloped away.

ASHANTE PRINCE – Hung in during the latter stages of the score up, then begun badly when galloping away at the start causing SIR NIPPA to be hampered. ASHANTE PRINCE will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. Weakened inside the final 600 metres to be beaten 62.6 metres. In view of the considerable ground that the gelding lost at the start, no action was taken.

T BONE WALKER NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

PEPPERCORN BARRY – Gave ground inside the final 400 metres to be beaten 49.3 metres.

 

RACE 2 – WORLDS BEST HOOF OIL TROT (1700 MS)

KARAS DREAM – Broke gait clear of interference passing the 250 metres. In view of the mare’s poor recent record, KARAS DREAM was stood down for a period of 10 days in addition to the completion of on re-qualifying trial prior to returning to race.

EARL PATRICK – Checked leaving the 800 metres when APEX paced and galloped. Hung in and contacted marker pegs rounding the final turn.

NIGHT WHISPERER – Post-race swab sample.

HERBERT – Out of position at the start despite the efforts of its driver. HERBERT will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. Checked and broke gait leaving the 800 metres when APEX paced and galloped.

APEX – Paced and subsequently galloped leaving the 800 metres causing EARL PATRICK to be checked whilst HERBERT was checked and broke gait. APEX was placed on its last chance to race truly.

 

RACE 3 – THE STORM INSIDE @ ALABAR PACE (1700 MS)

NOTHING SWEETER – Inconvenienced passing the 1100 metres when the tempo eased in the event. Held up for clear running during the latter stages of the run to the finish.

FAMOUS LABEL – Hung out during the early stages of the score up. Hung out shortly after entering the first turn and was reluctant to shift towards the marker pegs.

SWISS LIGHTNING – Trainer M Bibby was issued a formal caution for failing to accurately record the gear form for the gelding.

PRESIDENTIALCHANCE – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

JILLIBY TIDALWAVE – Inconvenienced passing the 1100 metres when the tempo eased in the event.

BIZZIE LIZZIE – Hung in during the latter stages of the score up and consequently was out of position at the start. A warning was issued. Inconvenienced and raced roughly passing the 1100 metres when the tempo eased in the event.

ROLL ON APOLLO – Inconvenienced passing the 1100 metres when the tempo eased in the event. Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish prior to utilising the sprint lane.

 

RACE 4 – MELTON ENTERTAINMENT PARK NMW PACE (2200 MS)

SUPER CODE – Trainer Z Steenhuis was fined the sum of $50 under AHRR 273(6)(b) for failing to accurately record the gear form for the gelding. When determining penalty, Stewards noted the poor recent record of Mr Steenhuis in relation to the rule.

BIZZNESS CLASS – Driver L Dunne was fined the sum of $100 under AHRR 156(3) for applying the whip on more occasions than permitted inside the final 200 metres.

MY ULTIMATE BILLY NZ – Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages.

 

RACE 5 – DOWNBYTHESEASIDE @ WOODLANDS STUD PACE (1700 MS)

OPTIMAL – Shifted out whilst under pressure inside the final 100 metres. A warning was issued.

NEATNTIDY – Broke gait clear of interference shortly after entering the first turn. Raced roughly rounding the final turn and shifted wider on the track. Broke gait clear of interference passing the 100 metres. In view of the overall tractability of the gelding, NEATNTIDY was stood down to one re-qualifying trial. Trainer A Dunn notified Stewards post-race that it would be the intention of the stable to send the gelding for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

HEZ ALL ROCK – Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 6 – MUSTAD AUSTRALIA 0-2 LTW PACE (2200 MS)

YURUGA LASS – Hampered passing the 350 metres when INTO THE HARKNESS broke gait.

PERFECT PLAYGIRL – Pre-race blood sample. Presented on-course four hours prior to the advertised start time in accordance with HRV’s elevated TC02 policy. Hampered passing the 350 metres when INTO THE HARKNESS broke gait.

INTO THE HARKNESS – Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. Broke gait clear of interference passing the 350 metres, then continued to gallop for a considerable distance thereafter causing YUGARA LASS and PERFECT PLAYGIRL to be hampered. INTO THE HARKNESS was placed on its last chance to race truly.

FEELINGOODFREDDIE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after driver N McCallum raised concerns with the condition of the gelding during the preliminary. Upon examination the gelding was deemed unfit to start and consequently FEELINGOODFREDDIE was declared a late withdrawal at 5:03pm acting on veterinary advice.

 

RACE 7 – THE WEEKLY ADVERTISER PACE (2200 MS)

PRESIDENTIAL ART – Gave ground inside the final 600 metres to be beaten 49.5 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

BAKERS BANDIT – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish. Driver R Arundell was fined the sum of $200 under AHRR 156(2)(a) for applying the whip on no less than one occasion without holding a rein in each hand passing the 100 metres.

GERRALE – Hampered behind the tiring PRESIDENTIAL ART between the 500 metres and the 300 metres. Held up for clear running during the latter stages of the run to the finish.
