Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
HAVADASH JOH – Raced roughly after the start. Pulled hard and hung out for the majority of the event. Tired over the concluding stages. A subsequent veterinary examination found nothing amiss. A warning was issued.
LEWIELEWIS – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight and hung in under pressure over the concluding stages.
TELLMEBOUTIT – Pre-race samples were taken.
MEZZANOTTI – Contacted its own sulky in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was issued. Stewards questioned driver James Herbertson into the apparent poor performance of the filly. Mr. Herbertson put forward that the filly was disappointing but had pulled up with an elevated heart rate. A subsequent veterinary examination confirmed this and the filly was also slow to recover with signs of tying up. Stood down for 5 days on veterinary advice.
ZANDA MAN – Raced erratically as the horses left the front straight on the final occasion.
R2 - HYGAIN = HIGHEST EQUINE STANDARDS PACE
CLARA ROCKS – Trainer Sam Barker was cautioned for failing to lodge a gear form for this runner. Stewards questioned driver Connor Clarke in regards to the tactics he adopted between the 600m and the 200m where there appeared to be an opportunity to shift from the marker pegs to the one out line. This move would have afforded Mr. Clarke clear running approaching and entering the home straight on the final occasion. Mr. Clarke put forward that he wished to follow the marker pegs at that stage of the event as he felt the pace would be quick over the final 400m of the event and he didn’t want to be wider on the track at that stage. In hindsight, Mr. Clarke agreed that coming wider would have been advantageous leaving the back straight as IM STUCK MAN, who he was trailing, failed to improve approaching the home turn. Mr. Clarke was issued a caution for his lack of judgement at that point of the race.
ROCKNROLL WILLOW – Pre-race samples were taken.
STEEL THE MOMENT – Post-race samples were taken.
R3 - SEE YOU @ STAWELL PACING CUP DAY 30/11 (3RD HEAT)
BIZZNESS CLASS - Post-race samples were taken.
ROCKNALLOVERTHEWORLD NZ – Was slightly out of its position at the start.
PRIORITISE - Out of position at the start. Driver Ryan Backhouse was cautioned for shifting up the track prior to the start.
R4 - MELTON ENTERTAINMENT PARK MAIDEN PACE
JILLIBY UTAH – Tired over the final 400m of the event. A subsequent veterinary examination found nothing amiss. Connections notified Stewards that the stable has eased up the on this filly after it had raced twice in a seven day period and felt that she may need further racing to reach peak fitness. Connections will notify Stewards of any issues that may come to light in the ensuing days. A warning was issued.
HAPPENSTBABEACHBOY – Checked behind tiring runners approaching the home turn on the final occasion.
TRYAGAINFREDDY - Checked behind a tiring runner approaching the home turn on the final occasion. Driver Ryan Backhouse was questioned to whether he had an opportunity to shift off the marker pegs at approximately 300m before being checked behind a tiring runner. Mr. Backhouse put forward that he did contemplate shifting but felt he may have interfered with the runner to his outside. Stewards notified Mr. Backhouse that they felt he should have attempted the run, but took into account that the runner he was following was giving ground at a quick rate.
ALWAYS BE TECHY – Pulled hard during the early and middle stages of the event.
RED ROBBER – This runners lugging pole became detached at the 900m mark. Inconvenienced behind tiring runners approaching the home turn on the final occasion. Tired over the concluding stages. No action was taken due to the margin of the winning horse.
THE ULTIMATUM – Checked behind tiring runners approaching the home turn on the final occasion.
DON KATTERZ – Tired over the concluding stages. A warning was issued.
R5 - LATHER UP @ WOODLANDS STUD PACE (3RD HEAT)
ITTAKESLUV – Post-race samples were taken
WINDGATE GUY – Underwent a veterinary examination in accordance with HRV’s lifetime starts policy.
IAMAWINGATE – Underwent a veterinary examination in accordance with HRV’s aged horse and lifetime starts policies. Gave ground over the concluding stages. A subsequent veterinary examination found nothing amiss. A warning was issued.
R6 - WORLDS BEST HOOF OIL VICBRED VOUCHER TROTTERS HANDICAP
TENSION SEEKER – Underwent a veterinary examination in accordance with HRV’s aged horse policy. Raced roughly after the start.
KYVALLEY MISTY – Paced and broke after the start. Placed outside the draw in future standing start barrier events. Tired over the concluding stages. No action was taken due to the breaking gait shortly after the start.
BLACK AND GOLD – Underwent a veterinary examination in accordance with HRV’s lifetime starts policy.
KEAYANG GYPSY – Post-race samples were taken.
ALDERBARAN ANTON – Tired over the concluding stages. A warning was issued.
R7 - 7/12 THE WEEKLY ADVERTISER HORSHAM PACING CUP PACE
BAKERS BANDIT – Slow to begin. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
LOMBOK – Underwent a veterinary inspection as it was unplaced as favourite. No abnormalities were detected. When questioned, driver James Herbertson put forward that LOMBOK wasn’t travelling well leaving the back straight on the final occasion, and as a result he elected to stay one off the marker pegs instead of shifting wider. In the run to the finish Mr. Herbertson said the mare was only travelling fairly amongst horse and wasn’t in a position to shift wider on the track to make ground. Stewards noted Mr Herbertson’s comments.
EASTBRO KOZZY – Raced roughly in the early stages of the score up.
