RACE 1 – TAB / VHRC PACE (2200 MS)

Eastbro Erin broke in the score up, was out of position at the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

Give Us A  Wink tired to be beaten 78 metres and was placed on its last chance to race competively.

Driver James Herbertson(Eastbro Erin) reported that after activating pull up blinkers around the home turn he then attempted to  activate the mares removable deafener hood early in the home straight, however that gear item failed to activate.

Stewards queried driver Jason Lee (Jilliby Roy) who explained that the gelding was racing first up today and had trialled twice leading up to today’s race, albeit in moderate times, however had proved disappointing today, adding that the gelding may need to be driven more conservatively in longer distance races in the future.

RACE 2 APG - THE INDUSTRY'S NOT FOR PROFIT SALES CO PACE (1700 MS)

Johnny Redcoat underwent pre and post race veterinary examinations pursuant to HRV Horse Welfare Policy due to his number of lifetime starts. No abnormalities were evident.

Driver Jackie Barker(Johnny Redcoat) was cautioned for shifting ground in the back straight, inconveniencing White Star Whizz which then raced roughly. That gelding then continued to race roughly for the remainder of the event and was  beaten 92 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

RACE 3 – VHRC / ALDEBARAN PARK BENEFITING OUR MEMBERS TROT (2200 MS)

Tiktokbegan badly, galloped for a short distance at the start  before regaining its gait , then again broke within 100 metres of the start. The mare will continue out of the mobile barrier draw. After again regaining its correct gait the mare briefly broke towards the 1900 metres and was stood down from racing for a period of ten days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.

Jimmy Bintang broke free of interference near the 700 metres.

RACE 4 –WOODLANDS STUD / APG 2YO MAIDEN PACE (1700 MS)

Young Bluey was held up for clear racing room around the final turn.

RACE 5 -APG - SERVING THE INDUSTRY FOR 32 YEARS PACE (2200 MS)

The start of this race was delayed due to Casterton gallops Race 3 running behind schedule.

Rocking Tiff underwent pre and post race veterinary examinations due to not having started in a race since 1 February 2021. No abnormalities were evident. Stewards queried driver Lochie Cook as to the performance of the mare with Mr Cook reporting that he had elected to drive the mare with cover due to her not having race for an extended period of time, however connections were disappointed with the performance today given the favourable run the mare had enjoyed. Mr Cook also reported on behalf of connections that they were also disappointed in the performance of You’re a Shocker which had led and been able to dictate a reasonable tempo before failing to finish  the race off. Stewards will follow up with trainer Stephen Fennell as to the recovery of both stable runners.

RACE 6 – JOIN THE VHRC 'THE HEART OF HARNESS RACING' PACE (2200 MS)

Jacks Hawk hung out markedly over the concluding stages of the race despite the efforts of driver Allan McDonough. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. A warning was placed on the horses’ racing manners.

RACE 7 – THE WEEKLY ADVERTISER / APG PACE (1700 MS)

Hes A Cool Mach broke in the score up, was out of position at the start and will continue out of the mobile barrier draw.

Merolamagic and Telemachus both shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Driver Glen Craven(Merolamagic) reported that his drive had pulled hard and had contacted its own sulky several occasions during the middle stages of the race.

RACE 8 – ALABAR HORSHAM 3YO CLASSIC (2200 MS)

Driver Allan McDonough’s right foot momentarily slipped from the sulky footrest shortly after the start before being immediately replaced.

Towards the 500 metres Peppermint hung out and contacted the sulky of My Ultimate Levi, which was hanging in despite the efforts of its driver. Due to the simultaneous movement of both runners no action was taken.

RACE 9 – ALABAR / VHRC VICBRED PLATINUM MAIDEN PACE (1700 MS)

James Herbertson did not appear in the racebook as the driver of Sir Floyd.

Lebowski  underwent pre and post race veterinary examinations due to not having started in a race since 14 December 2020. No abnormalities were evident.

Concongella Miss contacted a marker peg near the 1200 metres.

Fullofit raced at the rear of the field and failed to make ground when placed under pressure from the 500 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed mild signs of tying up. Stewards will follow up with trainer Peter Manning in the days following the race.

Alook To Like, Andjustlikethat and Concongella Miss were all held up for clear running around the home turn.

Early in the home straight Concongella Miss was angled wider to take a run to the inside of Sir Floyd at the same time as Andjustlikethat shifted down the track to take the same run to the inside of Sir Floyd. Sir Floyd and Lebowski were both monetarily inconvenienced.
