STEWARDS REPORT FOR HAMILTON

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 – THANK YOU TO OUR VOLUNTEERS TROTTERS HANDICAP (2660 SS)

General

The start of this race was delayed due to Mt Gambier thoroughbreds being behind schedule.

PERSEVERANSE– fractious before the start and then delayed the start when breasting the front row barrier strand. Placed on its last chance in the barrier draw. Tired (107m) over the concluding stages and was stood down from racing until the satisfactory completion of one (1) trial.

TEN NO SPUR– galloped clear of interference near the 1700m, trailed the field thereafter and a warning was issued against the racing manners of the gelding.

SURPRISE TO ME– fractious before the start and will continue to be placed outside the barrier draw.

DESIGNS– hung in and dislodged a marker peg near the 200m.

ICICLE– broke gait after the start, trailed the field throughout and considering the initial delay was placed on its last chance in the barrier draw.

 

RACE 2 – TAYLOR MOTORS HAMILTON MARES PACE (2160 MS)

EL AWOMAN – inconvenienced and held up for a clear run rounding the final turn prior to finishing in 5th place.

ALORA– hung in after the start and then worked forward to obtain the lead racing into the back straight on the first occasion. Tired over the concluding stages to finish at the rear of the field beaten approximately 75m. Placed on its last chance to race competitively. Driver Neil McCallum explained that the mare required some driving to progress to the lead during the early stages however then failed to finish the race off in a genuine manner over the latter stages. Mr McCallum added that in his opinion the mare may be better served when driven with a sit in future. Post-race veterinary examination revealed ALORA to have no apparent abnormalities.

CHEDALAYO– hung in rounding the final turn when giving ground after having been positioned outside of the leader.

SHADY DANCER – due to the mare having competed in more than 200 races, in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

RACE 3 – BENDIGO BANK 0-1 LTW PACE (2160 MS)

GRAYSON RED – driver Amy Day was fined $100 under rule 162(1)(y) for failing to adhere to the sectional time requirements when leading through the first half of the last mile in 64.8 seconds.

UNIVERSAL BOSS - declared a late withdrawal at 12:41pm due to a float breakdown.

SEA HUNTER – declared a late withdrawal at 12:41pm due to a float breakdown.

ROCKIN CHARMER– held up for a clear run before using the sprint lane to finish in 3rd place.

 

RACE 4 – PERMEWANS MITRE10 2YO & 3YO PACE (1660 MS)

CONISTON – hung out near the 400m and a warning was issued against the racing manners of the gelding.

ALL BLAZING GUNS – paced roughly when working forward towards the lead rounding the first turn.

UBETONRED– gave ground over the concluding stages.

SWEET IDEAL – checked near the 400m and shifted out passing that point.

WE FAVOUR ROSIE – momentarily paced roughly racing off the back straight on the final occasion and then checked near the 400m.

 

RACE 5 – ALEXANDRA HOUSE SPORTS CLUB PACE (2160 MS)

General

The start of this race was delayed due to Mt Gambier thoroughbreds being behind schedule.

URBADBOY– galloped during the early part of the score up and was placed on its last chance in the barrier draw. Offside rein burr came adrift during the early stages. Inclined to pull hard and hung out during the middle stages.

KEAYANG HONEYJOY– inconvenienced during the score up before being in position at the start. Pulled hard during the middle stages.

THE TRI LINE– inconvenienced near the 300m. Paced roughly of its own accord shortly thereafter and also in the home straight.

 

RACE 6 – HAMILTON LAUNDRY & DRY CLEANERS PACE (1660 MS)

ONE OFF NZ – driver Ashley Ainsworth was fined $200 under rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip with more than a wrist only flicking action in the home straight.

GIVE US A WINK– inconvenienced as the pace eased in the running line rounding the first turn.

IRISHMURPHY – due to the gelding being 14 years of age, in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

ROCKNROLL RANGER– after unsuccessfully challenging for the lead after the start, then gave ground over the concluding stages before galloping clear of interference in the home straight and was placed on its last chance to race truly.

PEPPERCORN BARRY- inconvenienced as the pace eased in the running line rounding the first turn.

 

RACE 7 – TK LANDSCAPING 0-4 LTW TROT (1660 MS)

JUDIELLE – galloped clear of interference in the home straight.

LADY SUSPICIOUS– inconvenienced when steadied wider rounding the first turn as DONA AMALIA galloped.

JUST ABIT DUSTY – due to the gelding having not started in a race since July 2023, in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

DONA AMALIA– galloped clear of interference approaching the 1400m when leading. Placed on its last chance to race truly. Checked and broke gait approaching the home straight.

BROWN EYED KATE– tired (69m) over the concluding stages and a warning was issued for the performance.

MAUDARCHY NZ– trotted roughly over the latter stages before galloping clear of interference near the 300m.

 

RACE 8 – MATTHEWS PETROLEUM PACE (1660 MS)

BE THE ONE – held up for a clear run until using the sprint lane to finish in 5th place.

JOHNNY REDCOAT – due to the gelding being 13 years of age and having competed in more than 200 races, in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SUPER CODE– held up for a clear run rounding the final turn and in the early part of the home straight.

CHOGI NZ– late scratching on veterinary advice at 3:53pm due to being lame following a mishap in the stabling area. Stood down from racing for 6 days and until a veterinary clearance has been provided.
