Stewards Report
Gloucester Park 28/11/2025
Weather: Fine Track: Good
Stewards: B Lewis, W Wishart (MT), R Mance (SR/HE), M Kemp (SR)
Veterinary Surgeon: Drs E Vidler, R Caslick
Starters: K Reeves (Starter/Gear), W Best (Driver/Brands)
Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – RETRAVISION.COM.AU PACE (2130MS)
WAVE REBELLION (S McDonald) – Gave ground from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have displaced its palate which had adversely affected its performance. Trainer/Driver Mr S McDonald stated that the filly had been unsuited by racing outside the leader and where possible in future he would drive it in a more patient manner and save the filly for a late finishing sprint if possible given its inclination to displace its palate and that he would consider a gear change. Due to the poor performance, the filly is now stood down from racing for 6 days and until the completion of a satisfactory requalifying trial.
REINETTE (T Wheeler) – Broke gait approaching the turn into the front straight on the first occasion. The filly is now stood down from racing for 6 days and until the completion of a satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RACE 2 – RETRAVISION, WHY SHOP ANYWHERE ELSE PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
General: Trainer Mr C Voak was fined $100 under HR 273(6)(b) for presenting FAT LOUIE NZ with gear not approved by the Stewards (Pull Down Blinkers On).
RACE 3 – PAT CRANLEY MEMORIAL PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 4 – RETRAVISION J P STRATTON CUP PACE (2536MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 5 – RETRAVISION, LOWEST PRICE GUARANTEE PACE (2130MS)
HER PRESENCE (G Hall Jnr) – Shifted outwards and made slight contact to the sulky wheel of FLYING RUMOUR (C Suvaljko) and raced roughly for a short distance in the back straight on the final occasion.
MIKIS PRIDE (S Suvaljko) – Hung outwards under pressure shortly after entering the front straight on the final occasion. Driver S Suvaljko was interviewed in relation to this matter, and he advised that the gelding hung outwards when becoming unbalanced as it came under pressure and that he had recommended to Trainer Mr M Reed to make some gear adjustments to correct its racing manner for future starts. Mr Suvaljko was told that he is expected to make a greater effort to keep his drives on a straight course and hold his position wherever possible to prevent other runners from improving to his inside in future.
PETES HONOUR (C Lewis) – Inconvenienced in the back straight on the final occasion.
RACE 6 – RAC MEMBERS SAVE 5% EVERY DAY AT RETRAVISION PACE (2536MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 7 – RETRAVISION, FOR ALL THE ELECTRICAL STUFF YOU LOVE PACE (2130MS)
The declaration of all clear was delayed by Stewards to review the vision of the start and interview the Starters and it was subsequently ascertained that there was a slight deceleration in the speed of the mobile at the start with FRANCO MECCA NZ (S Suvaljko) racing roughly after making some minor contact with the barrier arm and ELWADELL (L Harper) being steadied and shifting inwards at the start. Stewards decided that no further action was warranted in all the circumstances and all clear was subsequently issued.
FLYING DISCO (G Hall Jnr) – The gelding’s near fore was contacted by the off-side sulky wheel of TORPEDO ROCK (E Suvaljko) in the front straight on the final occasion and consequently raced roughly for a short distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion to the near fore pastern.
ROLLINGDOWNTHERIVER (S McDonald) – Tightened slightly at the start.
COLD HARD CASH (T Lynn) – Tightened slightly at the start.
ELWADDELL (L Harper) – Raced keenly at the start and shifted inwards causing tightening to inside runners.
FRISKY STYX NZ (A De Campo) – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it was slow to recover. Trainer Mr A De Campo will be contacted to discuss the gelding’s recovery and his future intentions.
General: Drivers G Hall Jnr (FLYING DISCO) and E Suvaljko (TORPEDO ROCK) were interviewed in relation to an incident in the front straight on the final occasion where FLYING DISCO raced roughly for a short distance after its near fore was contacted by the off-side sulky wheel of TORPEDO ROCK. The inquiry was adjourned until Friday 4 December 2025 at Gloucester Park.
RACE 8 – RETRAVISION 60 DAY PRICE PROMISE PACE (2130MS)
Given the mobile barrier decelerating slightly at the start in the previous race, it was tested on a number of occasions prior to this race with no issues detected.
No racing incidents to report.
