Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
All engaged drivers at tonight’s meeting were subjected to rapid antigen tests being supervised by the Stewards prior to fulfilling their drives.
RACE 1 – THE RETRAVISION GLOUCESTER PARK PREVIEW PACE (2536MS)
ROBBIE ROCKET (C. Lewis) – Out of position at the start. A warning was issued. Driver C. Lewis was interviewed in relation to the performance, he advised the gelding had not been suited to the slow pace through the early stages and had only finished the race off moderately over the final 200m.
RACE 2 – ONE OUT ONE BACK ON TABRADIO FILLIES & MARES PACE (2130MS)
ADDA TARANTELLA (C. Wallrodt) – Hung inwards in the score-up. Out of position at the start. A warning was issued.
MISS LIMELIGHT NZ (K. Symington) – Driver K. Symington was cautioned in relation to the manner in which he checked the speed of his drive in the early stages and was advised to ensure in future he does not reduce the speed abruptly to avoid inconveniencing other runners behind.
RACE 3 – TALKING TROTS PODCAST PACE (2130MS)
BLITZEMBYE NZ (S. Suvaljko) – Driver S. Suvaljko was interviewed in relation to his tactics in the early stages of the event where after beginning well from Barrier 1, his drive was crossed by ELDAYTONA (L. Harper) shortly after the start. Driver S. Suvaljko put forward that he allowed BLITZEMBYE to run along from the start, however he was instructed not to urge the gelding along in an endeavour to hold the lead if challenged by either IMA ROCKABILLY REBEL (R Warwick) or ELDAYTONA (L Harper) as it can have a tendency to pull hard, and being first up he was concerned that it may over-race and affect its ability to finish the race off strongly. He also added ELDAYTONA had shown superior early pace than BLITEMBYE and under these circumstances was able to obtain an advantage over BLITZEMBYE before then crossing to the lead. Driver S. Suvaljko ’s comments were confirmed by Trainer M. Reed who was interviewed prior to the race in relation to the driving instructions to be issued and he added the gelding had not trialled strongly in this preparation which influenced the tactics adopted for this race. He further advised the gelding would be driven in a similar manner for its immediate future starts should circumstances permit and would confirm his intended tactics with the Stewards prior to the race.
RACE 4 – THE SPORTS DAILY ON TABRADIO PACE (2536MS)
MEDIEVAL MAN (K. Harper) – Out of position at the start. A warning was issued.
RACE 5 – THE TROTS WA TWITTER FFA PACE (2130MS)
DOUBLE UP NZ (R. Warwick) – Driver R. Warwick reported following the event that the removable deafeners failed to release despite his efforts near the 200m.
WHILE THEY PRAY (L. Harper) – Momentarily contacted the barrier arm prior to the start. Driver L. Harper reprimanded under R162(1)(www) for allowing the gelding to shift up the track in the run to the finish.
TEXAS TIGER NZ (A. De Campo) – Gave ground from the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr G. Hall Snr undertook to monitor the gelding’s recovery and report any abnormalities to the Stewards.
RACE 6 – TABRADIO APG SERIES 30 4YO CONSOLATION FINAL (G2) (1730MS)
CHANCE ECLIPSE (S. Suvaljko) – Broke gait prior to the start. Trainer Mr G. Cox was advised the gelding will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
REGAL AURA (C. Voak) – Hung inwards in the score up and at the turn into the front straight on the final occasion, placing the driver at a disadvantage. A warning was issued against the gelding’s racing manner.
RACE 7 – VALE JOSH DUNN PACE (2130MS)
FREE TO AIR was a late withdrawal at 7.38pm on Veterinary advice when the gelding was showing signs of having colic. Trainer Mr C. King was advised the gelding would be stood down from racing for a period of 7 days and a Veterinary Clearance is required prior to the gelding racing or trialling again.
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 8 – THE AFTERMATH ON TABRADIO PACE (2130MS)
ADDA SOMETHING (J. Young) – When interviewed in relation to the unplaced performance, Driver J. Young advised the gelding was unsuited to racing outside the leader without cover and consequently unable to finish the race off.
IMPRESSIVE SIGNS (C. Lewis) – Trainer I. Miles was fined $50 under R273(6)(b) for presenting the gelding to race in an open bridle instead of the approved hood.
RACE 9 – THE TIM WALKER 3YO PACE (2536MS)
PAUL EWARD (D. Egerton-Green) – Shifted outwards and raced tightly with HOPPYS WAY NZ (S. Suvaljko) near the winning post with one lap remaining and consequently locked wheel stays for a short distance.
ARMA XFACTOR (C. Brown) – Broke gait on the turn out of the front straight on the first occasion. Trainer Mr C. Brown was advised the colt will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
HOPPYS WAY NZ (S. Suvaljko) – Raced tightly and carried outwards to a three wide position when PAUL EDWARD (D. Egerton-Green) shifted outwards near the winning post with one lap remaining and consequently locked wheel stays for a short distance.
General: Drivers D. Egerton-Green (PAUL EDWARD) and S. Suvaljko (HOPPYS WAY NZ) were interviewed in relation to both runners racing tightly near the winning post with one lap remaining consequently locking wheel stays. It was established that PAUL EDWARD was taken outwards to improve to the outside of the leader LOUCID DREAMS (M. Grantham) as HOPPYS WAY NZ was making ground quickly to its outside resulting in this incident. Driver D. Egerton-Green was cautioned and advised to ensure he can shift ground outwards without causing inconvenience to other runners in future or further action may be taken against him.
RACE 10 – THE DIGBY BEACHAM 2YO FILLIES PACE (2130MS)
QUARTZZ (D. Egerton-Green) – Underwent a Veterinary examination prior to the start and was passed fit to race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have returned lame in the near-fore. Trainer Mr D. Harper was advised the filly would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness prior to racing or trialling again.
CABSAV (S. Suvaljko) – When interviewed in relation to the unplaced performance, Trainer Mr M. Reed advised the filly had been unsuited due to being taken outwards and make a forward run from the 1100m with the pace then quickening from thereon and in such circumstances was unable to finish the race off as strongly as expected.
IMAHERO (E. Suvaljko) – Broke gait on the turn out of the back straight on the final occasion. Trainer Mr D. Miller was advised the filly will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
