Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – TROTSYND-REGISTER YOUR INTREST PACE (2130MS)
LETS ROCK TONIGHT (S Suvaljko)- Tightened and inconvenienced when tiring entering the front straight on the final occasion.
ZUEDE (R Warwick)- Checked entering the front straight on the final occasion.
General: On inquiry it was established that entering the front straight on the final occasion LETS ROCK TONIGHT (S Suvaljko) was taken up the track slightly when LUKE ATTACK ( G Hall Jnr) shifted outwards to improve its position with OUR LADY JEN (D Egerton-Green) then shifting inwards marginally when making ground quickly to the outside of LETS ROCK TONIGHT causing that horse to be tightened for room and lose ground quickly when tiring which caused ZUEDE (R Warwick), which was following, to be checked. Stewards were of the opinion there were a number of contributing factors involved and no blame was attached to any driver.
RACE 2 – THE NULLARBOR-THE ROAD TO RICHES PACE (2130MS).
A protest lodged by Driver J Rigoli (RIGGERS RIVER) which was placed fourth by the Judge against the third placed TORREVEAN VELOCE (C Voak) alleging interference near the 400m was dismissed. In dismissing the protest, Stewards were of the opinion that RIGGERS RIVER was being driven along in an endeavour to hold its position to the inside of TORREVEAN VELOCE near the 400m, however it came under some pressure and shortly was crossed by TORREVEAN VELOCE which shifted to the peg line and RIGGERS RIVER was then steadied when in a trailing position behind TORREVEAN VELOCE.
ROCKABILITY (C Suvaljko)-Hung inwards and contacted the sulky of MAJOR JAY (C Peterson) over the final stages.
RACE 3 –GOOD RACING ON GOOD FRIDAY PACE (2130MS).
Driver B Smith (SIDSTREPO) was fined $200 under HR156(4)(b)(iii) for using his whip when his horse was not maintaining or improving its position.
RACE 4 – ALLWOOD STUD PACE (2536MS)
ROAD CLOSURE (T Sheehy)- Raced roughly for several strides shortly after the start. A warning was issued against the gelding’s starting manner.
RACE 5 – APG WA 3YO COLTS & GELDINGS GOLD BULLION HEAT PACE (1730MS).
GREVIS (T Wheeler)- Momentarily held tight and contacted two marker pegs at the turn into the front straight on the final occasion.
BET THE HOUSE (C Voak)-Driver C Voak was fined $200 under HR156(2)(a) for using his whip in more than a flicking motion.
RACE 6 –WWW.GLOUCESTERPARK.COM.AU PACE (2130MS).
ADORE ME SOME MORE (C Voak)-A post- race veterinary examination of the mare revealed an elevated heart rate. Trainer/Driver C Voak stated that the mare over-raced after being driven forward from the start to cross to the lead and then failed to settle which adversely affected its performance.
RACE 7 –APG WA 3YO FILLIES GOLD BULLION HEAT 1 PACE (1730MS).
Driver E Suvaljko (MORE SASS) was reprimanded under HR R156(2)(a) for using her whip in more than a flicking motion. When assessing penalty, Stewards considered Ms Suvaljko’s prior good record under the rule.
RACE 8 – APG WA 3YO FILLIES GOLD BULLION HEAT 2 PACE (1730MS).
REMARKABLE ROCK (T Wheeler)- Tightened passing the winning post on the first occasion and raced roughly due to the filly’s off foreleg contacting the sulky wheel of WORLD SECRET (C Suvaljko).
WORLD SECRET (C Suvaljko)- Raced roughly shortly after the start. Crowded and shifted inwards away from another runner near the winning post on the first occasion.
General: Driver C Lewis (AMARETTO ANGEL) was reprimanded for careless driving under HR168(1)(a) for shifting inwards near the winning post on the first occasion when not fully clear of WORLD SECRET (C Suvaljko) causing that filly to be steadied inwards causing REMARKABLE ROCK (T Wheeler) to be tightened as that filly shifted outwards slightly when having a tendency to hang outwards. When assessing penalty, Stewards considered the racing manner of REMARKABLE ROCK which was hanging outwards slightly which was a contributing factor and also Mr Lewis’ excellent record under the rule.
RACE 9 – HTA REACHING FOR THE TOP PACE (2130MS).
No racing incidents to report.
