Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
Due to Driver T Sheehy being indisposed and unable to fulfil his driving engagement, the following driving change was effected:
Race 7 – FRANKIE J HOLDEN (NZ) – Driver T Wheeler
RACE 1 – ASCOT GROUP WA 3YO FILLIES PACE (2130MS)
MISS UNEEK (K Harper) – Severely checked to avoid a galloping runner and broke gait making the turn into the front straight on the first occasion. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
DIAMOND WORLD (C Lewis) – Inconvenienced making the turn into the front straight on the first occasion.
CONTROL QUEEN (L Harper) – Inconvenienced making the turn into the front straight on the first occasion. Had a tendency to hang inwards throughout.
LUNETTA (Gary Hall Jnr) – Broke gait making the turn into the front straight on the first occasion and trailed the field thereafter, taking no competitive part. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have returned having bled from both nostrils. As the filly had previously bled from both nostrils at Northam on 25th June 2024, Trainer R Abercromby was advised acting under the provisions of HR101(3)(b), all future nominations will be refused.
RIPPER VIEW (T Wheeler) – Displaced its off fore knee boot during running.
STRAUNYS SISTER (K Symington) – Checked and broke gait making the turn into the front straight on the first occasion.
MANEA (D Harper) – Checked making the turn into the front straight on first occasion. Held up for clear running in the home straight.
DEKLA DIVA (B Smith) – Inconvenienced making the turn into the front straight on the first occasion and then commenced to over race when racing in the front straight on the first occasion, raced roughly for a short distance. Had a tendency to hang inwards throughout.
PRINCESS MICKAYLA (C Voak) – Prior to the event, Trainer C Voak advised the filly was showing signs of being in season and this information was disseminated. Severely checked and broke gait making the turn into the front straight on the first occasion. Commenced to give ground from the 400m.
STELLAR EDITION (M Ferguson) – Inconvenienced making the turn into the front straight on the first occasion.
RACE 2 – HOIST TORQUE AUSTRALIA PACE (2130MS)
SOUNDS TREACHEROUS (S Suvaljko) – Hung inwards and raced inside a marker peg racing into the front straight on the final occasion.
RACE 3 – WA FOTON DIESEL AT CATALANO PACE (2130MS)
JOLTED CHARM (K Symington) – Shifted outwards under pressure in the home straight. Driver K Symington was fined $100 under the provisions of HR162(1)(www) for allowing JOLTED CHARM to shift ground in the home straight which advantaged another runner.
DREAM CONTROL (M Munro) – Commenced to give ground from the 400m. Hung inwards and contacted a marker peg racing into the front straight on the final occasion.
General: Stewards opened an inquiry in relation to the conduct of Drivers K Symington (JOLTED CHARM) and M Munro (DREAM CONTROL) through the early stages of the running of the event and during the warm down lap with initial evidence being tendered by both drivers. The inquiry has been adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.
RACE 4 – TEAM BOND PACE (2130MS)
The field was turned away during the initial score up due to the near side rein burr on UNDER THE ALTA (K Symington) becoming caught. This necessitated a delay to the start of this race of approximately two minutes.
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 5 – WESTSIDE AUTO WHOLESALE PACE (2130MS)
SHEHADI (L Edwards) – Driver L Edwards was reprimanded under the provisions of HR156(2)(a) for using the whip in more than a flicking motion.
RACE 6 – 7PLUS PACE (2130MS)
APOLOGIZE (D Harper) – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
RACE 7 – TABRADIO PACE (2536MS)
STELLA MAJOR (K Harper) – Over-raced through the middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running in the home straight.
TRITTTRITTBANGBANG (A De Campo) – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
General: Drivers L Harper (SONIC CHIP) and T Wheeler (FRANKIE J HOLDEN NZ) were questioned in relation to their tactics adopted through the early stages of the event. Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed to consider the evidence of both drivers and to review betting records of the race.
RACE 8 – ITALIAN NIGHT COMING SOON PACE (2536MS)
BEALAWYER (G Hall Jnr) – Held up for clear running in the home straight.
RACE 9 – GARRARDS - SERVICE WITH INTEGRITY 2YO PACE (2130MS)
LADIESHAVTIME NZ (D Harper) – Broke gait making the turn into the front straight on the first occasion and trailed the field thereafter and took no competitive part. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
