RACE 1 – SKY RACING WATCH LIVE 3YO PACE (2130MS)
ITSOKTOBEGREY (D Egerton-Green) – Broke gait leaving the back straight on the first occasion. As the gelding had also broken gait at Northam on 25 May 2024, resulting in it being stood down for 6 days and 1 trial, the gelding is now required to complete two satisfactory re-qualifying trials and is stood down from racing for 13 days.
CABERNEIGH (C Voak) – Over-raced through the early stages.
PETES HONOUR (C Lewis) – Inconvenienced leaving the back straight on the first occasion.
ATLAS THE TITAN (G Hall Jnr) – Out of position at the start. A warning was issued against the gelding’s starting manner. Gave ground from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
RAJAH ROCKS (T Wheeler) – Checked leaving the back straight on the first occasion. Inconvenienced in the front straight on the first occasion.
RACE 2 – 7PLUS PACE (1730MS)
HIGH PRICE (C Lewis) – Commenced a three wide in the front straight to receive the bell and near the winning post was obliged to race four wide.
YANKEE LINCOLN (C Voak) – Sulky was contacted by FRANKIE J HOLDEN NZ (K Harper) near the end of the back straight on the final occasion.
HEAVENLY WAGE (T Wheeler) – Forced outwards to a three wide position approaching the winning post to receive the bell.
FRANKIE J HOLDEN NZ (K Harper) – Contacted the near-side sulky wheel of YANKEE LINCOLN (C Voak) and broke gait leaving the back straight on the final occasion. Driver K Harper reported that the gelding contacted its own sulky throughout running.
General: Stewards inquired into the reasons for HIGH PRICE (C Lewis) being obliged to race four wide at the winning post to receive the bell. Evidence was taken from Drivers C Lewis, T Wheeler (HEAVENLY WAGE) and G Hall Jnr (MONTANA D J NZ). It was established that MONTANA D J NZ (G Hall Jnr) was taken outwards to improve its position causing HEAVENLY WAGE (T Wheeler) to be obliged to race wider prior to HIGH PRICE (C Lewis) commencing a three wide run with that gelding then making ground quickly to the outside of HEAVENLY WAGE simultaneously to the movement outwards by MONTANA DJ NZ being fully completed with these factors resulting in HIGH PRICE being shifted to a four wide position for some distance when making ground rapidly. After considering all circumstances no blame was attributed to any driver and no further action was taken.
Further, an inquiry was held into the reasons for FRANKIE J HOLDEN NZ (K Harper) breaking gait when contacting the sulky wheel of YANKEE LINCOLN (C Voak) leaving the back straight on the final occasion. It was ascertained that FRANKIE J HOLDEN NZ, when travelling strongly, improved to the inside of YANKEE LINCOLN with that gelding shifting inwards slightly away from HEAVENLY WAGE (T Wheeler) as HIGH PRICE (C Lewis) improved quickly to the inside of FRANKIE J HOLDEN NZ. This resulted in FRANKIE J HOLDEN NZ racing in restricted room before then contacting the off-side sulky wheel of YANKEE LINCOLN. After reviewing the vision and considering the evidence submitted by Drivers K Harper and C Voak, no driver was found at fault and no further action was taken.
RACE 3 – COWDEN THE INSURANCE BROKERS PACE (2130MS)
FRANCO ECUADOR NZ (M Miller) – Gear change - Dolly Vardens Off - Raced in open bridle. Trainer Mr K Prentice was fined $50 under HR273(6)(b) for presenting the horse in other than its approved gear.
STATE OF HEAVEN NZ (S Suvaljko) – Contacted the sulky of LONGREACH BAY (T Wheeler) in the back straight on the final occasion with the gelding breaking gait.
General: Driver S Suvaljko was fined $100 under HR168(1)(a) for careless driving for contacting the sulky of LONGREACH BAY causing STATE OF HEAVEN to break gait.
RACE 4 – CATALANOTRUCKS.COM.AU COMBINED PACE (2130MS)
HILLVIEW BONDI (M Miller) – Raced tightly with MAGNUS VICTOR (A De Campo) for a short distance after the start.
General: Driver A De Campo (MAGNUS VICTOR) was shown the vision of his driving from shortly after the start where he raced tightly with HILLVIEW BONDI (M Miller) which shifted outwards slightly and he was reminded of his obligations to afford more room to runners to his inside when crossing in future.
RACE 5 – THE KERRY CLARKE (G3) PACE (2130MS)
All clear was delayed when the Judge advised that the photo finish system malfunctioned and was inoperable. Consequently, the judges attended the Stewards’ Room to review the Hawkeye Vision System of the finish and consequently determined ACHARNE GIRL (S McDonald) to be the winner, THREE RUMOURS NZ (G Hall Jnr) second, BEYOND THE SEA (K Harper) third, and a dead heat was declared for fourth placing between SOHO SERAPHINE (M Miller) and SOVRANA (A De Campo). After the Stewards were satisfied with such decision all clear was issued.
PAROQUET (M Munro) – Driver M Munro was fined $100 under HR170(1)(a) for dropping his left foot from the sulky rest when activating gear and not returning it in a timely manner.
RACE 6 – HOIST SOLUTIONS FFA PACE (2130MS)
WHILE THEY PRAY (C Voak) – Inconvenienced at the turn into the front straight on the final occasion.
HAMPTON BANNER NZ (C Lewis) – Returned with a punctured off-side tyre which occurred near the 250m.
JUMPINGJACKMAC NZ (S McDonald) – Hung inwards under pressure at the turn into the front straight on the final occasion. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.
General: In relation to HAMPTON BANNER NZ (C Lewis) receiving a puncture to the off-side tyre near the 250m, it was established that JUMPINGJACKMAC NZ (S McDonald), when under pressure tended to hang inwards and contacted the sulky of WHILE THEY PRAY (C Voak) which shifted out marginally and then contacted the sulky wheel of HAMPTON BANNER NZ. This incident was attributed to slight movement from JUMPINGJACKMAC and WHILE THEY PRAY and, in such circumstances, no further action was taken.
RACE 7 – TABTOUCH PACE (2130MS)
A delay was caused when the field was turned away at the first attempt of the start due to NAVY STREET (E Suvaljko) requiring a gear adjustment with it not facing the start in the initial stages of the score up.
No racing incidents to report.
