RACE 3 – VALE KEVIN WARD CONDITIONED PACE (2130MS)
THE MIKI TAKER (A De Campo) – When questioned in relation to the gelding racing three wide throughout, Driver A De Campo explained that he had driven the gelding forward with a view to being able to cross GOODFELLAZ (C Lewis) to race outside the leader, however THE MIKI TAKER has a dour racing manner and despite his efforts in urging the gelding forward was unable to gather sufficient pace to cross GOODFELLAZ which continued to race strongly to his inside when challenged and in these circumstances was obliged to remain in a three wide position. Stewards found Mr De Campo’s explanation to be acceptable and no further action was taken.
GOODFELLAZ (C Lewis) – When interviewed in relation to remaining in its position outside the leader and not relinquishing that position to THE MIKI TAKER (A De Campo), Driver C Lewis advised that it was his preference to allow THE MIKI TAKER to cross and obtain cover, however GOODFELLAZ commenced to race strongly when challenged by THE MIKI TAKER and consequently he was unable to restrain the gelding with THE MIKI TAKER not being able to accelerate and cross GOODFELLAZ which remained racing to the outside of the leader. This explanation was deemed acceptable, and no further action was taken.

ZARA TINDALL NZ (G Hall Jnr) – When questioned regarding his tactics in relinquishing the lead, Driver G Hall Jnr stated that he was instructed by Trainer M Brennan to drive the mare forward from the favourable barrier and if challenged by OUR SANDY SHORE (M Brown) to take a trailing position behind that mare. These instructions were confirmed with Trainer M Brennan. Further, in relation to the disappointing performance, Driver G Hall Jnr explained that the mare had over-raced when contacting its own sulky throughout running which was detrimental to its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
RACE 9 – SMOOTH FM PERTH ON DIGITAL RADIO PACE (2130MS)
SPICEY MAJOR (G Hall Jnr) – Contacted its own sulky throughout running and consequently over-raced.

WHEN IN VEGAS (D Egerton-Green) – Gave ground from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Driver D Egerton-Green will be interviewed at a time and date to be arranged in relation to his driving tactics in maintaining the lead when challenged through the early and middle stages and the gelding’s performance in giving ground and tiring considerably from the 500m.
MY HAMMER DOWN NZ (G Hall Jnr) – When interviewed in relation to his driving tactics in continually challenging the leader WHEN IN VEGAS (D Egerton-Green) from the back straight after the completion of a lap, Driver G Hall Jnr stated that the gelding had commenced to contact its own sulky and consequently over-raced placing him at a disadvantage in being unable to steady the gelding when electing to remain racing to the outside of WHEN IN VEGAS through the early stages after being unsuccessful in challenging it for the lead and consequently it continued to pull hard and improve forward and race in advance of WHEN IN VEGAS until that gelding commenced to tire from the 500m. Mr Hall Jnr further added that between leaving the back straight and approaching the front straight to receive the bell, the gelding dropped the bit and consequently was unable to cross WHEN IN VEGAS and added that the gelding had raced greenly throughout running with blinkers being added at its second race start. The matter was adjourned to allow Stewards to consider his explanation and to interview Driver D Egerton-Green.
