MEETING HELD AT GLOUCESTER PARK ON FRIDAY 14 NOVEMBER 2025.
Weather: Fine Track: Good
Stewards: B Lewis, W Wishart (MT), M Kemp (SR/HE), C Brown (SR)
Veterinary Surgeons: Drs M McGregor, P Symons
Starters: K Bailey (Starter/Gear), W Best (Driver/Brands)
Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – VALE DON MARTIN PACE (1730MS)
I’M ROCKIN ROD - Was a late withdrawal at 5.10pm after the gelding underwent a veterinary examination when arriving on course and was found to have sustained superficial abrasions to the near foreleg due to a floating mishap on route to the course requiring veterinary treatment. Trainer Mr W Justins was advised that the gelding would be stood down from racing for a period of 7 days.
No racing incident to report.
RACE 2 – CAMEL TIME AFTER THE CRICKET PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 3 – $9 PINTS SWAN DRAUGHT AFTER THE CRICKET PACE (2130MS)
BENJI NZ (D Roberts) – Inconvenienced in the back straight on the final occasion. Steadied and raced in restricted room over the final stages.
BEAT THE BANK (E Suvaljko) – Checked in the back straight on the final occasion.
HALE SAINT LOUIE NZ (D Egerton-Green) – Locked wheels with MAXIMUM ROCK (C Voak) in the back straight on the final occasion and lost ground.
INSTA GATOR (J Young) – Inconvenienced in the back straight on the final occasion.
MAXIMUM ROCK (C Voak) – Gave ground from the 600m and was checked and locked wheels with HALE SAINT LOUIE NZ (D Egerton-Green) in the back straight on the final occasion.
General: Drivers L Harper (MY COPY NZ) and C Voak (MAXIMUM ROCK) were interviewed in relation to an incident in the back straight where MAXIMUM ROCK was checked and locked wheels with HALE SAINT LOUIE NZ (D Egerton-Green). It was established that MY COPY NZ was taken outwards from the peg line to a one wide position with MAXIMUM ROCK being shifted wider when under pressure as HALE SAINT LOUIE NZ was making ground quickly from behind these runners. After reviewing the vision and the evidence given from both drivers, the Stewards determined that no driver was careless in their actions, and no further action was taken.
In relation to BENJI NZ (D Roberts) being placed in restricted room over the final stages, Driver M Miller (SOHO VESPER LIND) was cautioned and advised to ensure he is fully clear when shifting ground and improving his position in future.
RACE 4 – ASHES TEST MATCH THEN TO THE TROTS PACE (2536MS)
The start was delayed several minutes due to CHIVALRY NZ (L Harper) having to leave the track after casting a plate in the preliminary requiring it to be refitted.
SORRIDERE (J Suvaljko) – Slightly inconvenienced in the front straight on the final occasion.
LAVRA JOE (K Harper) – Received contact to its near hind leg in the front straight on the final occasion when MENEMSHA (A De Campo) was taken outwards. A post-race veterinary examination found no abnormalities.
General: Drivers K Harper (LAVRA JOE) and A De Campo (MENEMSHA) were interviewed in relation to an incident in the front straight on the final occasion where the offside sulky wheel of MENEMSHA contacted the near hind leg of LAVRA JOE. Driver K Harper stated that he had anticipated MENEMSHA being taken outwards however, the gelding tended to hang inwards under pressure and consequently placed him in difficulty in shifting it wider when MENEMSHA was taken outwards to gain clear running. Driver A De Campo stated that MENEMSHA had improved quickly behind IMA FIVE STAR GENERAL NZ (R Williams) and at that stage was racing in advance of LAVRA JOE and consequently was correctly positioned to be taken outwards. Mr De Campo was questioned in relation to the movement of his right arm in this incident and he explained that he instinctively moved his right arm towards LAVRA JOE to maintain his balance when racing tightly with that gelding when it did not shift outwards with his movement as he expected. After reviewing the vision and considering the evidence put forward, Stewards believed the major contributing factor to this incident was the lack of immediate response by LAVRA JOE despite the efforts of Driver K Harper in attempting to shift the gelding outwards in response to the movement from MENEMSHA. Further, Driver A De Campo was reminded of his obligations to ensure that his body remains within the confines of the sulky to avoid such questioning in future.
RACE 5 – THE RUNNING CAMEL JAMES BRENNAN MEMORIAL (G2) PACE (2536MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 6 – FREE ENTRY GP AFTER THE CRICKET PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 7 – REGA PUMPS AND SPRAYERS/WESTRAL MARES CLASSIC PRELUDE PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 8 – VALE CHRIS GARRARD OAM PACE (1730MS)
UNDER THE ALTA (C Suvaljko) – The saddlecloth worked loose during running and was dislodged becoming entangled with the gelding’s near hind leg for a short distance in the back straight on the final occasion.
YANKEE LINCOLN NZ (S Suvaljko) – Held tight for a short distance in the front straight on the final occasion.
General: In relation to YANKEE LINCOLN NZ (S Suvaljko) being held tight in the front straight on the final occasion, Driver M Munro (SHEZA BROMAC NZ) was cautioned and reminded of his obligations to ensure he is clear of other runners before shifting outwards to improve his position in future.
RACE 9 – TERMX PACE (2130MS)
LORD PUBLISHER NZ (C Voak) – When interviewed in relation to the disappointing performance, Driver C Voak stated that the gelding had lacked speed from the start and raced in a flat manner which he attributed to it not backing up after racing at Pinjarra on Monday 10th November 2025. Trainer Mr R Abercromby will be contacted to discuss the gelding’s recovery and his future intentions.
RACE 10 – GARRARDS PESTICIDES 2YO FILLIES PACE (2130MS)
STRELITZIA MISS - Was a late withdrawal at 9.49am today when Trainer Mr P Tilbrook advised that the filly was found to have a hoof abscess to the near hind. Mr Tilbrook was interviewed in relation to the timing of the scratching being after the prescribed time of 8.30am and his explanation was accepted.
Trainer M Howie was interviewed in relation to the withdrawal of MAAS ATTACK due to an elevated temperature after the filly was entered as a late nomination. Mr Howie explained that the filly became inappetant and developed a high temperature on Thursday 13 November 2025 and was therefore unsuitable to start and added that it would now be sent for a spell. Mr Howie’s explanation was accepted, and no further action was taken.
