As part of the RWWA Compliance Assurance Activities a number of drivers were randomly selected to be subjected to urine drug testing which will be analysed for the presence of banned substances. Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics. Driver E Suvaljko advised that due to a vehicle breakdown she was unable to attend tonight’s meeting and consequently the following driving changes were made: Race 1 – FRANCO WESTERN – T Wheeler, Race 3 – BLOCKJORG – K Harper, Race 7 – TWOBOB CRACKER – T Wheeler, Race 8 – SHES A MARE – C Voak, Race 9 – EYE BETTER – C Lewis, Race 10 – LETS ROCK TONIGHT – H Charles.
RACE 1 – A&P ADVISORY MANE EVENT PACE (2130MS)
RASCAL (D Egerton-Green) – Driver D Egerton-Green reported that he sustained a puncture to the off side sulky tyre which occurred with approximately one lap remaining.
RACE 2 – BARBAGALLO LUXURY CARS PACE (2130MS)
CHASING HILL (G Hall Jnr) – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it was slow to recover. Trainer Mr M Young advised he would monitor the gelding’s recovery and report any abnormalities to Stewards.
MACHS BETTOR (R Warwick) – Driver R Warwick reported the off side hopple shortening pin failed to release due to a broken cord.
RACE 3 – BARBAGALLO LEADERS IN MOTORING EXCELLENCE PACE (2130MS)
WITHOUTTHETUH (C Voak) – Over-raced throughout when leading. Gave ground from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities. Driver C Voak reported that the gelding choked down in running which was detrimental to its performance.
FRANCO ECUADOR NZ (M Miller) – Tired in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination of the horse revealed no abnormalities. Driver M Miller advised that the horse appeared to choke down in running and consequently was unable to finish the race off strongly.
RACE 4 – BARBAGALLO LAND ROVER COMBINED PACE (2130MS)
STATE OF HEAVEN NZ (S Suvaljko) – During the preliminary was found to have blood in its mouth and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
MAGNUS VICTOR (A De Campo) – When interviewed in relation to the unplaced performance, Trainer/Driver A De Campo stated that the gelding was driven forward at the start to race on the pace with a fast lead time and first quarter which adversely affected its finishing effort.
RACE 5 – BARBAGALLO WESTERN CROWN 2YO FILLIES PACE (1730MS)
JAXS IDEAL (G Hall Jnr) – Gear Change-Hood Blinkers On. Trainer M Young was fined $100 under HR273(6)(b) for presenting the filly in other than its approved gear.
BETTAGETONPIP (R Warwick) – Driver R Warwick was interviewed in relation to his driving of the filly over the final stages and he was reminded of his obligations to ensure that he drives his runners out fully to the end of the race in future.
RACE 6 – BARBAGALLO LAMBORGHINI PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 7 – BARBAGALLO FERRARI PACE (2503SS)
All Clear was delayed to allow Stewards to review the vision of the start in relation to BELLISSIMO ACQUISTO NZ (C Voak) baulking after the barrier strand was released. After reviewing the vision no further action was taken and All Clear was issued.
BETTOR CLASS NZ (R Warwick) – Broke gait leaving the front straight on the first occasion. As the gelding was stood down due to breaking gait on 14 May 2024, Trainer L Edwards was advised that the gelding will be stood down from racing for a period of 13 days and until such time as the completion of 2 satisfactory re-qualifying trials.
STREET HAWK NZ (D Egerton-Green) – Galloped out. A warning was issued against the gelding’s starting manner. Inconvenienced leaving the front straight on the first occasion.
CARANA NZ (D Roberts) – Broke gait after the start and lost considerable ground and took no competitive part in the event thereafter. Will continue to be placed outside the draw in future standing start events and Co Trainer Mr G Bond was advised that the gelding must complete a satisfactory standing start trial.
RACE 8 – BARBAGALLO ART 3YO FILLIES PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 9 – BARBAGALLO WATCH PACE (2130MS)
QUEENINTHECORNER (H Charles) – Shifted outwards under pressure in the front straight on the final occasion. Driver H Charles was fined $100 under HR162(1)(www) for allowing the mare to shift ground in the front straight on the final occasion which advantaged SWEET VIVIENNE (S Suvaljko).
EVE CROCKER (N Turvey) – Hung inwards leaving the front straight on the first occasion. A warning was issued against the mare’s racing manner.
AMERICAN MONARCH (C Peterson) – Broke gait entering the turn into front straight on the first occasion. Trainer L Inwood was advised that the mare will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
ACHARNE GIRL (G Hall Jnr) – Checked at the turn into the front straight on the first occasion.
BLAZE COOPS (C Voak) – Over-raced through the early stages.
RACE 10 – BARBAGALLO IN OSBORNE PARK PACE (2130MS)
THE RIGHTEOUS (T Wheeler) – Tightened shortly after the start.
General: Driver C Voak (MY LITTLE BIG MAN NZ) was shown a replay of an incident shortly after the start where he attempted to shift inwards behind MAJOR OVER (C Lewis) which caused tightening to THE RIGHTEOUS (T Wheeler) with that gelding racing inside a marker peg. When assessing this incident, Stewards considered the low level of interference, and that Mr Voak took corrective measures quickly.

RACE 2 – RETRAVISION, LOWEST PRICE GUARANTEE (DIV.2) PACE (2130MS)
General: Trainer P Tilbrook advised Stewards that STRAUNY appeared to have a virus after noticing a mucosal discharge from its nose the following day. Consequently, Mr Tilbrook scratched STRAUNY from its engagement in Race 1 at Gloucester Park on 14 June 2024.
