RWWA STEWARDS’ SUMMARY REPORT
MEETING HELD AT GLOUCESTER PARK ON FRIDAY 07 NOVEMBER 2025
Weather: Fine Track: Good
Stewards: B Lewis, R Mance (MT), M Kemp (SR/HE), M Scott (Cadet) (SR)
Veterinary Surgeons: Drs M Mc Gregor, E Vidler
Starters:K Reeves (Starter/Gear), W Best (Driver/Brands)
Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – BARBAGALLO MOTORING EXCELLENCE. PACE (1730MS)
WATCH ME WAVE (C Suvaljko) – Taken outwards in the back straight on the final occasion and raced tightly and wheel to wheel with OVERLY EXCITED (D Egerton-Green).
OVERLY EXCITED (D Egerton-Green) – Raced tightly and wheel to wheel with WATCH ME WAVE (C Suvaljko) in the back straight on the final occasion and lost some momentum for a short distance.
RACE 2 – BARBAGALLO MASERATI. PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
General: Driver C Suvaljko (ILLAWONG MUSTANG) – Was fined $100 under HR163(A)(1) for not holding a rein in each hand in the front straight on the final occasion.
RACE 3 – BARBAGALLO JAGUAR LAND ROVER PACE (2130MS)
OPAL HUNTER (R Williams) – Driver R Williams was interviewed in relation to his driving tactics given the faster than average lead time of 34.3 seconds being set. Mr R Williams stated that it was his pre-race intention to drive the gelding forward from the start in an attempt to obtain the lead and after the gelding had commenced well, he challenged NATHAN STREET (S McDonald) for the lead through the early stages and gained an advantage over that gelding but experienced some difficulty in crossing fully and shifting to the peg line due to OPAL HUNTER not being fully responsive to his efforts in attempting to cross when reacting to the near side lugging pole and consequently the gelding had to work harder than expected before eventually crossing to the lead at the turn into the front straight on the first occasion. Mr Williams further advised that in such circumstances he elected to retain the lead despite being later challenged by NATHAN STREET (S McDonald) for a short distance and added that in all the circumstances he was satisfied with the gelding’s finishing effort.
NATHAN STREET (S McDonald) – Driver S McDonald was interviewed as to whether there was an opportunity to obtain clear running in the back straight on the final occasion. Mr McDonald stated that he considered shifting the gelding outwards, however given his positioning relative to HILLVIEW BONDI (J Callaghan) and also that NATHAN STREET was travelling strongly, this would have required him to significantly restrain the gelding and as he was of the opinion that HILLVIEW BONDI was under some pressure, he believed an opportunity to gain clear running to the inside of that gelding would present a short distance later, however HILLVIEW BONDI did not yield sufficient ground to allow him to shift outwards and with OPAL HUNTER (R Williams) then commencing to tire he was unable to secure a clear passage for the remainder of the event. After reviewing the vision and considering his comments, Stewards found the explanation to be reasonable, and no further action was taken.
RACE 4 – BARBAGALLO LAMBORGHINI NORMS DAUGHTER CLASSIC (G2) PACE (2130MS)
AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE NZ (D Roberts) – Driver D Roberts reported that the off-side sulky tyre deflated in the back straight on the final occasion.
PRINCESS KATIE (J Suvaljko) – Inconvenienced for a short distance at the start.
WONDERFUL TO FLY (S Young) – Hung inwards after the start. A warning was issued against the mare’s starting manner.
General: Stewards could not fully establish the reason for the sulky tyre of AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE NZ deflating in the back straight on the final occasion and therefore no further action was taken in this regard.
RACE 5 – RETRAVISION 4YO GOLDEN NUGGET (G1) PACE (2536MS)
GOLDEN LODE NZ (D Roberts) – Sustained a puncture to the off-side tyre near the 1200m and consequently gave ground in the back straight on the final occasion.
COPY CAT QUEEN (A De Campo) – Contacted the offside sulky tyre of GOLDEN LODE NZ (D Roberts) near the 1200m.
FRANCO MOTU NZ (C Lewis) – Raced roughly for a short distance in the front straight on the final occasion when its near hind leg received slight contact from the sulky wheel of JUSTCALLMEMIKI NZ (D Harper).
JUSTCALLMEMIKI NZ (D Harper) – Raced roughly for a number of strides when racing strongly and making some contact to the sulky wheel of ALTA TRIBUTE (S McDonald) at the turn into the front straight on the final occasion.
CHASING REX (T Wheeler) – Inconvenienced in the front straight on the final occasion.
General: Driver A De Campo (COPY CAT QUEEN) was fined $200 for careless driving under HR168(1)(a) for contacting the off- side sulky wheel of GOLDEN LODE NZ (D Roberts) near the 1200m. When assessing penalty, Stewards considered that there was a slight reduction in pace through this section of the race and that COPY CAT QUEEN was racing keenly and did not immediately respond to the actions of Driver A De Campo when he attempted to steady the mare.
Driver D Harper (JUSTCALLMEMIKI NZ) was fined $300 for careless driving under HR168(1)(a) for shifting outwards in the front straight on the final occasion and making slight contact to the near hind leg of FRANKO MOTU NZ (C Lewis) causing that gelding to race roughly for a short distance. When assessing penalty, Stewards considered the degree of interference and carelessness including that Mr Harper attempted to correct the gelding’s outward movement, and his very good record under the rule.
RACE 6 – BARBAGALLO ASTON MARTIN FFA PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 7 – BARBAGALLO FERRARI NR 60+ DISCRETIONARY HCP PACE (2503SS)
All clear was delayed when Driver L Harper (CHIVALRY NZ) requested Stewards to review the start. After reviewing the vison and interviewing the starter it was determined that CHIVALRY NZ had gained a fair start and all clear was issued.
TARTAN ROBYN NZ (S McDonald) – Momentarily tightened at the turn into the back straight on the first occasion.
WHOS THE DAD (M Miller) – Galloped out. A warning was issued against the gelding’s starting manner.
CHIVALRY NZ (L Harper) – Galloped out. A warning was issued against the gelding’s starting manner.
General: Driver C Voak (MAXIMUM ROCK) was cautioned for shifting outwards at the turn into the back straight on the first occasion causing TARTAN ROBYN NZ (S McDonald) to be momentarily tightened when placed in restricted room. Mr Voak was reminded of his obligations to be fully clear of other runners prior to shifting ground in future or further action may be taken against him.

RACE 9 – BARBAGALLO VOLVO PACE (1730MS)
