RWWA STEWARDS’ SUMMARY REPORT
MEETING HELD AT GLOUCESTER PARK ON SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER 2025
Weather: Fine Track: Good
Stewards: C Courtland (MT), M Thomas (SR), P Webster (MT)
Veterinary Surgeon: Dr R Caslick
Starters: K Reeves (Starter/Gear), K Bailey (Driver/Brands)
Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – FREE ENTRY PACING CUP – 12TH DECEMBER PACE (1730MS)
ALWAYS CHANGIN (K Harper) - Broke gait after the start was affected. Excluded from the mobile draw. Raced roughly when racing into the back straight on the final occasion. A warning was issued.
CAPTAIN SAID SO (J Suvaljko) - Hung outwards and broke for a short distance in the early stages of the score up. A warning was issued.
RACE 2 – BOOK INTO STEELO’S TONIGHT PACE (2130MS)
General: Stewards inquired into the reasons for TRIROYALE BRIGADE NZ (T Nally) being carried outwards into a four wide position by ELDAYTONA (A Markham) when racing in the front straight to receive the bell. Stewards heard evidence from drivers T Nally and A Markham, who was in accompaniment by a senior driver. Driver A Markham subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge under HR 163(1)(b) for making another runner cover more ground than necessary and driver Markham was severely reprimanded. In determining a penalty Stewards considered driver Markham’s clear record under this rule from 526 drives, that he is a concession driver and that the consequences of the incident were minor.
RACE 3 – BOOK YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY AT GLOUCESTER PARK PACE (2130MS)
No incidents to report.
RACE 4 – NEW YEARS EVE AT GLOUCESTER PARK PACE (2130MS)
General: Stewards inquired into the reasons for IDONTWANABEAPIRATE (S McDonald) contacting the back of CHIEF COPY (H Charles) when racing into the back straight on the second occasion causing IDONTWANABEAPIRATE to break gait and interfering several runners. On Inquiry Driver McDonald advised that when the pace reduced it had reduced sharply, and he didn’t have time to respond to the reduction. Driver Charles advised that after the early work he had stopped driving the horse out at that stage but did not reduce the pace significantly and believed that the horse’s performance or underlining issue may have been the cause of the quicker than normal pace reduction. A Veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had returned with an irregular heart rate and was stood down until a veterinary clearance is produced and until a satisfactory trial is completed. The Stewards had determined that the reduction in pace and subsequent interference was very likely caused by the irregular heart rate and took no further action.
IDEALINCIDER (K Harper) - Checked by a galloping runner when racing out of the back straight on the final occasion.
BOLD JACKIE (C Suvaljko) - Checked by a galloping runner when racing out of the back straight on the final occasion.
ARIUM (T Lynn) - Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.
LUCY VICTORIA (K Madden) - The mare hung outwards in the score up and contacted the front of the barrier arm causing it to lose momentum. The mare will continue to remain excluded from the barrier draw. Driver was shown a section of the vision through the later stages of the score up and was advised to show caution when shifting down from her barrier position and to only do so once the start was affected.
THE PROTOTYPE (J Suvaljko) - Driver Joe Suvaljko was shown a section of the vision over the concluding stages after jostling for a position with EASTERN ADVANCE (D Egerton-Green) for some distance before his sulky wheel slipped under the sulky wheel of EASTERN ADVANCE. He was advised to show caution to avoid potential interference from occurring.
EATERN ADVANCE (D Egerton-Green) - Inconvenienced by a galloping runner when racing in the back straight on the second occasion.
RACE 5 – $9 PINTS EVERY FRIDAY IN STEELO’S OR JP’S NOVICE DRIVER SERIES (NO.24) PACE (2130MS)
No incidents to report.
RACE 6 – TROTSYND – JOIN THE FUN PACE (2130MS)
ALTA GABBANA (S McDonald) - Was out of position as the start was affected and raced roughly shortly after the start. The filly will remain excluded from the mobile barrier draw.
SAIFAH PRINCESS (L Harper) - Was out of position as the start was affected. The filly will remain excluded from the mobile barrier draw.
