Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – VINCE GARREFFA TROT (2503SS)
SKY EAGLE was a late scratching at 10.05am when the gelding underwent a veterinary examination after its preliminary and was found to be lame in the off fore. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 7 days and until such time as a veterinary certificate of soundness be produced. When interviewed, Trainer G Johnson advised that the gelding had worked well leading into the race and would now consider corrective shoeing to address a hoof ailment.
THE HONOURS NZ (W Price) – Galloped at the start. A warning was issued.
ALDEBARAN MARSHALL (S McDonald) – Broke gait racing towards the front straight on the final occasion. A warning was issued.
BEE BEE BEROC (G Johnson) – Galloped at the start. Will be placed outside the draw in future standing start events (ODS x4).
RACE 2 – MONDO SMALLGOODS 3YO WESTBRED FILLIES PACE (2130MS)
FLY EAGLEROSE (G Johnson) – Hung outwards in the score up inconveniencing TERASITA (E Suvaljko). A warning was issued on the filly’s barrier manner.
RACE 3 – BIRRAZ RISTOBAR PACE (2130MS)
KINSAABI (R Warwick) – Broke gait racing towards the front straight on the first occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
CORK CAN RUN (C Lewis) – Boke gait racing towards the front straight on the first occasion resulting in DANNIKA (J Suvaljko) being checked. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RACE 4 – IAWCC 68TH ANNIVERSARY PACE (2130MS)
HEEZ TRUE BLUE (K Madden) – A post-race veterinary examination of the unplaced horse revealed it to be lame in the off fore. Will be stood down from racing until such time as a veterinary certificate of soundness be produced.
General: On inquiry Driver S Suvaljko (ONEFIRSTIMPRESSION) was found guilty to a charge under HR163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference by allowing ONEFIRSTIMPRESSION to shift outwards which caused contact to GREATGREAT BOUDER (D Roberts) resulting in that gelding breaking gait in the front straight on the final occasion. Driver S Suvaljko subsequently had his licence to drive in races suspended for 12 days from midnight Friday, the 8th of November 2024 to expire on midnight Wednesday, the 20th of November. When considering penalty Stewards took into account his recent record, the degree of interference and the carelessness which were both deemed to be at the mid-level.
RACE 5 – SALUTE FUNCTION CENTRE DIV.2 PACE (2130MS)
TORREVEAN AMY (D Roberts) – Broke gait in the score up and was out of position at the start. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
OUR MAJOR JACK NZ (E Harris) – Underwent a veterinary examination following its preliminary and was found to be lame in the near fore. Was withdrawn at 12.27pm on Veterinary advice. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 7 days and until such time as a veterinary certificate of soundness be produced. Trainer E Harris advised that the gelding had shown no lameness issues in its work prior to the race.
IL BANDITO (J Rigoli) – Driver J Rigoli was fined $100 under HR168(1)(a) for careless driving for causing UNDER THE ALTA (K Symington) to be tightened and steadied when crossing racing out of the back straight on the first occasion.
SUNPATRA (G Hall Jnr) – Hung inwards racing towards the front straight on the first occasion contacting two marker pegs. A warning was issued.
RACE 6 – VCM COFFEE MACHINES PACE (2130MS)
SWEET IVY NZ (J Young) – Driver J Young was reprimanded under HR163(1)(b)(i) for causing LADY VIOLETTA (C Voak) to cover extra ground racing into the front straight on the first occasion. When considering the matter Stewards took into account that LADY VIOLETTA raced wide for a short distance prior to regaining its position in the one out line.
RACE 7 – POLIZZI VCM COFFEE MACHINES DIV.1 PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 8 – NUNZIO'S MOBILE PIZZA PACE (2536MS)
ME FLASH (S Steele) – Was out of position at the start. A warning was issued.
RODASI NZ (C Lewis) – Hung outwards from the 600m and veered outwards in the home straight placing the driver at a disadvantage. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. The gelding will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RACE 9 – IL PADRINO PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
