RWWA STEWARDS’ SUMMARY REPORT
MEETING HELD AT GLOUCESTER PARK ON TUESDAY 2nd DECEMBER 2025
Weather: Fine Track: Good
Stewards:R Mance (M/T), C Brown (S/R), W Wishart (Betting Analyst) (MT) ), R Frazer (H/E)
Veterinary Surgeon:Dr M McGregor
Starters:K Bailey (Starter/Gear), K Reeves (Driver/Brands)
Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – FREE ENTRY WA PACING CUP – 12TH DECEMBER PACE (2130MS)
INTANGIBLE GIFT (G Schofield) - Tired from the 600m to be beaten 78m. A warning was issued.
RACE 2 – BOOK INTO STEELO’S TONIGHT PACE (2130MS)
CULLEN STAR (L Elliott) – Broke gait in the front straight on the first occasion.
DONT GOIN THEWATER (K Madden) - Returned having displaced an off-side knee boot.
General: On inquiry it was established that SONIC CHIP (L Harper), after being driven forward, steadied from the sulky of TORREVEAN AMY (D Roberts) as the pace slowed. As a result, CULLEN STAR, which was following, was steadied and contacted the sulky. After considering all circumstances, Stewards determined that no driver was solely responsible for the incident, and no further action was taken.
RACE 3 – BOOK YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY AT GLOUCESTER PARK PACE (2130MS)
All clear was delayed after Driver S Suvaljko (LETS ROCK TONIGHT) requested to view the photo finish for first placing, with no further action being required.
STATE MY CASE (D KULCSAR) - Retired from the event in the front straight on the first occasion after starting to give ground. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed it to have returned with atrial fibrillation. The mare will now be subject to the disabilities of HR101(c)(2)(a) being now stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and until such time an ECG report is received by the Stewards prior to trialling and the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RACE 4 – NEW YEARS EVE AT GLOUCESTER PARK PACE (2130MS)
BACK ON LINE (B Stampalia) - Inconvenienced behind a tiring runner approaching the front straight on the final occasion.
LADY VIOLETTA (C Voak) - A post-race veterinary examination revealed it was slow to recover.
GREATGREAT BOULDER (D Roberts) - Returned having cast its off fore plate.
RACE 5 – $9 PINTS EVERY FRIDAY IN STEELO’S OR JP’S PACE (2130MS)
ROCKSTAR QUALITY (C Voak) – Gave ground from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an elevated heart rate. Driver C Voak advised that the gelding was not suited to being unable to obtain the lead in the early stages and then having to race without cover throughout which was detrimental to its finishing performance.
BOLD JACKIE (C Suvaljko) - Approaching the front straight on the final occasion made slight contact with the sulky of KINSAABI (D Harper) and raced roughly momentarily.
KINSAABI (D Harper) – Hung inwards approaching the front straight on the final occasion.
RACE 6 – TROTSYND – JOIN THE FUN PACE (2130MS)
BROOME BEACH (G Butler) – Hung inwards and raced roughly, resulting in contacting marker pegs when leaving the back straight on the final occasion. Placed in restricted room to the inside of TORREVEAN ENVY ME (D Roberts) entering the front straight and consequently raced inside two marker pegs. Returned with an abrasion to the off-hind bumper. Trainer/Driver G Butler advised he would experiment with a gear change prior to the gelding’s next start. A warning was issued regarding the gelding’s racing manners.
PRINCE OF PINJARRA (S McDonald) - Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.
RACE 7 – TABTOUCH WA PACING CUP – 12TH DECEMBER CONDITIONED HCP TROT (2503SS)
UPTOWN LAD and BONNIE RAE (Trainer K Bennett) were late scratching’s at approximately 2:51 pm due to a float breakdown.
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 8 – PICK YOUR RACE NAME AT GLOUCESTER PARK PACE (2130MS)
DEKLA DIVA (S Suvaljko) – When interviewed regarding his decision to maintain the lead when challenged by SNAKEY BAY (T Wheeler) shortly after the start and through to the front straight on the first occasion, during which a lead time of 36.2 was recorded, Driver S Suvaljko explained that he had previously driven the mare and, based on her recent form and the class of the race, believed his best option was to hold the lead if possible. He stated that although SNAKEY BAY challenged strongly and almost crossed his drive in the early stages, he elected to maintain his position. After settling the mare into a comfortable tempo shortly thereafter, he was ultimately disappointed with the performance, after giving ground from the 400 metres to be beaten 46 metres. Stewards, after reviewing the evidence and considering his explanation in light of the overall race time, took the matter no further.
SNAKEY BAY (T Wheeler) – When questioned regarding his driving tactics in the early stages, particularly his decision to challenge DEKLA DIVA for the lead through to the front straight on the first occasion, Driver T Wheeler explained that he believed his best option was to lead if possible. He stated that after almost crossing DEKLA DIVA early, he then attempted to obtain a trail behind that runner, however, when this was not possible, he was obliged to race without cover. He added that he was placed at a disadvantage when the mare began to over-race shortly after the hopple shorteners were activated. Despite this, he was not disappointed with the mare’s performance in finishing 5th, beaten 5.5 metres. Stewards accepted his explanation.
