STEWARDS REPORT FOR GEELONG

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted. 

 

RACE 1 – CAMP QUALITY CONVOY GEELONG FEB 23 PACE (1609 MS)

RIVER PATROL – (200+starts, 12+yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormalities.

PICKLE IT – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding had tied up.  The gelding was treated and has been stood down from racing for eight days.

SECOND EDITION – Gave ground in the home straight to be beaten 39m into last placing.

GOODTIME MAE – Held up for clear running on the final turn.

SHADY DANCER– (200+starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormalities.

BREATHE EASY– Broke gait when clear of interference entering the home straight and placed on last chance to race truly.

AUCKLAND RED– Pulled hard middle stages and utilised sprint lane in home straight.

RACE 2 –EVOLUTION LODGE TROT(1609 MS)

MAUDARCHY NZ – Broke gait when clear of interference approaching the final turn, warning issued.

ALDEBARAN CAMPBELL – Late scratching at 7.02pm after a pre-race veterinary check revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg.  The gelding has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and pending a veterinary clearance.  Stewards ordered that deductions of 41c (Win) and 24c (Place) would apply.  During a subsequent inquiry, Stable Representative Tracey Cullen pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR 30(1) for failing to inform Stewards that the gelding had been injured prior to the event.  Ms.Cullen was fined $500 and informed of her appeal rights.

SONNYBOY– Began badly and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

RACE 3 – THE LANG MEMORIAL TROT HCP (2100 SS)

UNSPOKEN LOVE – Began badly and trailed the field.  The mare will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

ALLWATFUNJINGLES – Broke twice in running (1800m, 300m) and has now been stood down from racing until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY – Driver Jordan Leedham replaced Fred Spiteri (illness).  Hung in under pressure in the home straight, warning issued.

OLD VILLA BOY– Driver Xavier O’Connor replaced Anthony O’Connor (unavailable).

JAKARTA NZ– Driver Jodi Quinlan cautioned for allowing her left foot to slip from the sulky footrest on the final turn.

RACE 4 – HARAS DES TROTTEURS TROT (1609 MS)

NOBLE COUNT – Began badly and trailed the field.  The gelding will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

NO SURPRISES– Broke gait when clear of interference at the 600m, warning issued.

EMWALLEN – (Last start Oct 2023) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormalities.  Broke gait when clear of interference on the final turn.

RACE 5 – ORICA CONCRETE STRUCTURES PACE (1609 MS)

LE TWIST NZ– Driver Allan McDonough replaced Mark Pitt (unavailable).

RACE 6 – APCO – WE’VE GOT YOU PACE (1609 MS)

MORVAH  - Sulky contacted by Ooh Ah Listah on the final turn.

BALBOA ROCK - Driver Allan McDonough replaced Mark Pitt (unavailable).

OOH AH LISTAH– Hung out and raced roughly at the 300m.  Contacted the sulky of Morvah on the final turn, resulting in the gelding breaking gait.  Placed on last chance to race truly.

RACE 7 – HOYTS FOODS 3YO MAIDEN PACE (1609 MS)

OUR EYES EMOJI– Raced roughly on the first turn.

VILLAROCK– Broke gait when clear of interference at the 800m and broke gear.  The gelding was pulled up and has been placed on its last chance to race truly.
