STEWARDS REPORT FOR GEELONG

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.

RACE 1 – VHRC/ ALDEBARAN PARK TROT (2100 MS)

WISTFUL LADY- broke in the score up and was placed on her last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

TRANQUIL BILL- held up around the home turn, trotted roughly momentarily near the 100 metres.

NEY DEAN- Stewards queried driver Jackie Barker who explained that the horse had contacted the nearside sulky stay with his  near hind leg and with DICKO DIXON racing back off the leader she elected to work forward near the mile, however with DICKO DIXON then taking closer order to the leader she was unable to get to the position outside the leader and as such then restrained back to the rear of the field with a lap to travel. Ms Barker explained that the horse had continued to contact his own sulky throughout the race to the extent that he had lost his near hind shoe, and that she had recommended to connections that a different sulky be used enabling a longer hitch to prevent a recurrence of striking the sulky.

LAVENGERS BOY- paced and broke in the score up and will continue out of the mobile barrier draw, trailed the field thereafter.

 

RACE 2 – VHRC/BENSTUD MARES PACE (2100 MS)

 

 SHADY DANCER- underwent pre and post race veterinary checks due to her number of lifetime starts- no abnormalities apparent.

MIDNIGHT DANCER- Stewards queried driver James Herbertson as to the below market expectation performance of the mare. Mr Herbertson explained that the mare had travelle well when racing one out two back, however had failed to run on once angled wider near the 600 metres. A post race veterinary check revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the days following the race.

 

RACE 3 – VHRC / CROP  PACE (2100 MS)

 CEE CEE NORMAN- pulled hard whilst trailing the leader.

STELLAR QUEEN- trainer Glenn Bull was cautioned for failing to notify the intended tactics of his multiple runners.

BEATBOXER- held up around the home turn behind CEE CEE NORMAN.

THEY CALL ME AL- unsuccessfully contested the lead early before gaining cover, however gave ground  to be beaten 22 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

RIVER PATROL NZ- underwent pre and post race veterinary checks due to his age and number of lifetime starts- no abnormalities evident.

 

RACE 4 – VHRC/ GBL PROPERTIES  PACE (1609 MS)

JUST PEDRO- paced roughly near the 400 metres when racing outside the leader.

THE ROAN RANGER- driver Emmett Brosnan was cautioned for allowing his drive to partially shift wider near the 850 metres, resulting in NOTNEGOTIABLE being  briefly inconvenienced. Mr Brosnan was also cautioned for jostling with NOT NEGOTIABLE between the 300 and 200 metres, contributing to his own drive pacing roughly.

NOTNEGOTIABLE- pulled hard in the score -up. Inconvenienced near the 850 metres  before gaining a three wide trail behind THE ROAN RANGER. Driver Jordan Leedham was cautioned for jostling with THE ROAN RANGER between the 300 metres and the 200 metres, contributing to THE ROAN RANGER pacing roughly.

IM MOLLY MALONE- tired to be beaten 75 metres and was placed on her last chance to race competitively.

RACE 5 – VHRC/ HARAS DES TROTTEURS  PACE (2100 MS)

ROCKIN CHARMER- driver Nicholas O’Connor asked to view the race vision of the home straight, regarding ROCKNROLL GRONK shifting inwards. After viewing the race vision Mr O’ Connor was satisfied that his drive had an unimpeded run in the sprint lane and All Clear was given.

ROCKNROLL GRONK- hung in under pressure entering the home straight- warning issued.

YANKEE GAMBLER- underwent pre and post race veterinary checks due to not having raced since 16/1/2023- no abnormalities apparent.

AUSSIEPRIDE- broke twice in the score-up with driver Georgia Hayward then signalling to the starter that the gelding had a gear issue. The starter then signalled a false start. Ms Hayward explained and Stewards verified that a   headcheck  issue had caused the gelding to break.

 

RACE 6 – VHRC/ ALABAR FARM PACE  (1609 MS)

 MON SOLEIL- underwent pre and post race veterinary checks due to not having raced since 2/2/2023.

 

RACE 7 – VALE ROBIN LEONARD PACE (2100 MS)

  JILLIBY JAY SEA- sustained two flat tyres around the home turn and early in the home straight. Stewards will inquire into the reasons for this occurring.

LOVE INA CHEVY- underwent pre and post race veterinary checks due to his age and number of lifetime starts.

WOW YOU CAN DANCE- inconvenienced near the 200 metres as AMORE ROCK, which was held up, partially shifted out before being corrected.

AMORE ROCK- Stewards will  inquire into the reasons for this runner making contact with the sulky of JILLIBY JAY SEA from the 250 metres.

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT 9/4/24- Driver Jordan Leedham(AMORE ROCK) pleaded guilty to two charges pursuant to AHRR 168(1)(a) for careless driving, in that near the 250 metres he allowed his drive to shift out and  contact the offside sulky wheel of JILLIBY JAY SEA, resulting in a flat tyre to that runner and also to WOW YOU CAN DANCE  being inconvenienced. The second charge related to Mr Leedham allowing his drive to make contact with th nearside sulky wheel of JILLIBY JAY SEA as he angled his drive to the sprint lane upon entering the home straight. Mr Leedham was fined $100 on each charge.
