Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 –ASSOCIATED RIGGING MARES PACE (1609M MS)
GOODTIME LIBBY - Trainer Courtney Slater was cautioned for presenting the mare in gear which was not correctly declared. Driver Josh Duggan was cautioned for his lack of control for allowing Goodtime Libby to shift outwards briefly inconveniencing Asmileandawinx.
MAAS BETTING AGAIN – Trainer Alison Alford was cautioned for presenting the mare in gear which was not correctly declared. Galloped clear of interference near the 1400m. Will be placed on its last chance to race truly.
MONA MIA – Subject to a pre-race blood sample. Trainer Kari Males was cautioned for presenting the mare in gear which was not correctly declared.
TALLARAS SHADOW – Driver Jason Ainsworth was fined $100 under rule 156(3) for using his whip in an unapproved manner in that the whip was applied on more occasions than permitted inside the 200m.
RACE 2 – EVOLUTION LODGE TROT (1609M MS)
PARIS JAMILLA – Hung in and galloped clear of interference near the 200m.
MOJITO MADNESS – Subject to a post-race swab sample.
DESERT ASSASIN – Inconvenienced near the 200m when Paris Jamilla galloped.
HES THEMIGHTYSPIN – Pulled hard during the middle stages.
PERFIDIOUS SUE – Galloped clear of interference near the 400m.
RACE 3 – APCO WE GOT YOU 0-2 LTW PACE (1609M MS)
DON KATTERZ – Galloped clear of interference during the score up and was out of position at the start, will be placed outside the mobile barrier draw. Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 49m into 9th place.
RAY DAN – Trainer Emma Stewart was fined $100 under rule 273(6)(b) for presenting the filly in gear which was not correctly declared.
REIGN EM IN – Pulled hard during the score up.
BLUE MIKI – Trainer David Murphy was cautioned for presenting the gelding in gear which was not correctly declared. Hung in near the 300m. Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 44m into 8th place.
BURNING TICKETS – Subject to a pre-race blood sample.
BLACKINDEED – The race book failed to show Josh Duggan as the driver.
FEARLESS WRITER – Trainer Phillip Chircop was cautioned for presenting the filly in gear which was not correctly declared. Driver John Caldow was cautioned for jostling near the 400m when he directed Fearless Writer down the track in an attempt to hold Torque Power in a three wide position.
RACE 4 – CAINYS PLUMBING & AG SERVICES PACE (1609M MS)
AUSSIEPRIDE – The race book failed to show Riley Mitchell as the driver.
PICKLE IT – Pulled hard during the middle stages.
CREATIVE LAD – Due to the gelding having raced on more than 200 occasions, was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
LADY SALINA – Trainer Adam Shaw was cautioned for presenting the filly in gear which was not correctly declared.
ROCKNROLL STARDOM – Subject to a pre-race blood sample. Held up for a clear run until approaching 200m before using the sprint lane.
RACE 5 – CHRISTMAS AT THE TROTS PACE (1609M MS)
FOREGONE CONCLUSION NZ – Subject to a pre-race blood sample.
LOTAKEVI – Due to the gelding having reached the age of 12 years and raced on more than 200 occasions, was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Driver Ross Payne was spoken to advisedly regarding the force of his whip action in the home straight.
SHADY DANCER – Due to the mare having raced on more than 200 occasions, was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
OUR ULTIMATE LAYLA – Galloped clear of interference shortly after the start. Will be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.
MY BUCKS NIGHT – The race book failed to show David Murphy as the driver. Was out of position at the start. Will continue to be placed outside of the mobile barrier draw.
RACE 6 – CORIO PIZZA PACE (1609 MS)
BREATHE EASY – Held up for a clear run until approaching 200m before using the sprint lane.
MR TEDDY – Trainer Amy Day was cautioned for presenting the gelding in gear which was not correctly declared. Driver Amy Day was fined $100 under rule 162 (1)(i) for failing to come up to the starting gate by the time the candy pole or other nominated marker is reached. Stewards took into account that Ms Day had recently been cautioned for a similar offence. Driver Amy Day was cautioned for the manner in which she shifted ground wider near the 500m where she momentarily inconvenienced Our Bella Lucia.
OUR BELLA LUCIA – Inconvenienced when Mr Teddy was shifted wider near the 500m.
INDIGO DANCER – Due to the mare having not raced since 27 November 2020, was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Subject to a post-race swab sample.
HEAVENLY BRIGADE NZ – Galloped clear of interference near 250m, placed on its last chance to race truly. When queried about the performance Trainer/Driver Emmett Brosnan stated the mare became unbalanced after cross-firing while being taken wider on the track. The mare was examined by the veterinarian after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
RACE 7 –HARAS DES TROTTEURS TROT (1609M MS)
MAUDARCHY NZ – Pulled hard during the middle stages. Inconvenienced near the 200m when Daisy Bouchea galloped.
FLING IT RAINBOW – Subject to a pre-race blood sample.
DAISY BOUCHEA – Galloped clear of interference near 200m.
XIAOBO – Galloped twice during the score up and was out of position at the start. Will continue to be placed outside of the mobile barrier draw. Galloped clear of interference near 1200m. will be placed on its last chance to race truly.
RYMES – Was out of position at the start and will continue to be placed right outside of the mobile barrier draw. Cast a near fore plate near the 200m.
RACE 8 – HOYTS FOODS PACE (1609M MS)
The start of this race was delayed due to Moree thoroughbreds being behind schedule. This race was televised on Sky 2.
CALYPSO MISSTRESS – Pulled hard during the middle stages.
MONSIEUR FLAMEL – Pulled hard during the later stages of the score up. Inconvenienced near the 400m and held up for a clear run until approaching 200m when Caledonian Ranger gave ground.
BONA KHAN –Subject to a pre-race blood sample. Trainer Joanne Pengelly was cautioned for presenting the gelding in gear which was not correctly declared.
CALEDONIAN RANGER – Inclined to hang in during the score up. Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 42m into 10th place.
SILVER MYSTIQUE – Driver Glen Craven was cautioned for failing to have his drive in position at the start.
MORVAH – Held up for a clear run until approaching 200m and again from the 50m.
QUIET STORM – Driver Nicholas O’Connor was spoken to advisedly regarding the force of his whip action in the home straight.
