RACE 2 – ALDEBARAN PARK 3YO TROTTERS MOBILE– 2230MS

The all clear was delayed in this event at the request of driver D. Hill (SO VOGUE) as she wished to review an incident which occurred on the first turn, prior to giving all clear, where her runner was tightened and broke gait. After reviewing the race replays D. Hill elected to lodge an objection against the winner of the event (SAINT SEBASTIAN) alleging she was tightened by SAINT SEBASTIAN and broke gait as a consequence, losing considerable ground. After taking all matters into consideration Stewards could not be confident that had it not been for the interference SO VOGUE would have won the event, consequently they gave the all clear on the Judges numbers 4-5-1-3-6

WISHING ZONE – Checked and broke gait as the field raced into the first turn, when SO VOGUE broke gait in advance of her.

SO VOGUE – Checked and broke as the field raced into the first turn.

SAINT SEBASTIAN – Hung in as the field raced into the first turn, despite the efforts of the driver, tightening the racing room of SO VOGUE, which resulted in SO VOGUE breaking gait, a warning was issued.

GOODGIRLSAVENGER – Gave ground from the 750 metres to eventually be beaten 142.0 metres, a post-race veterinary examination revealed some minor mouth lacerations which were possibly the result of GOODGIRLSAVENER racing fiercely. Stewards questioned driver L. O’Neill regarding the tactics he adopted, in particular his decision to move to the position outside the leader (SAINT SEBASTIAN) and then race on level terms for the remainder of the race until the filly commenced to give ground, near the 750 metres. L. O’Neill stated that after making up ground he lost early in the race, he felt GOODGIRLSAVENGER started to grab the bit and commence to race fiercely, and rather than hold the horse up, he allowed it to move to the position outside the leader. He didn’t believe he was putting any pressure on the leader, which was reflected in the slow middle sections of the race. He also advised Stewards that he had an issue with the half hopples and the video replays showed where he was trying to remedy the issues near the 900 metres. L. O’Neill was disappointed with the performance as he was confident that with the times set in the event GOODGIRLSAVENGER should have been contesting the placings rather than tiring to be beaten such a long distance. After considering the veterinarian report, the sectional times and the issues with the half hopples Stewards did not feel the drive of L, O’Neill was culpable, however felt it lacked judgement but believed the performance of GOODGIRLSAVENGER brought about the ultimate finishing position of the filly and consequently stood it down to one re-qualifying trial.

ATOUT – Out of position when the start was effected, will continue out of the draw in mobile start events.

RACE 8 – 2022 COBBITY EQUINE FARM 3YO PACING COLTS & GELDINGS SOUTHERNCROSS SERIES (HEAT 2) – 1800MS

Stewards delayed the all clear in this event to give them an opportunity to review the race replays to ensure driver W. Hill (EVER HOPING) had met his obligations under Rule 154(1) which relates to a horse breaking gait in a race. After reviewing the race replay’s and based on their own observations it was evident that W. Hill had immediately restrained his runner and attempt to get it back into its correct gait and there was no advantage gained nor any other runner interfered with. Consequently, Stewards gave the all clear on the Judges numbers 5-4-1-3-8.

IM REGGIE – Hung in and contacted marker pegs near the 250 metres, a warning was issued
