Stewards Report

Globe Derby Park –Saturday 20th April 2024

The sprint lane was in operation at tonights event.

Trainers with multiple runners in any one race provided Stewards with their intentions prior to the event.

RACE 1 – 2024 SA BOTRA 2YO KINDERGARTEN SERIES (HEAT 5)– 1800MS

TIGER ROARS (A Chapman) which galloped at the start will continue to be excluded from the draw mobile start races.

RACE 2 – LADBROKES EASY FORM PACE – 1800MS

TRIGGER (L Ryan) which hung inwards leaving the winning post final occasion, contacted and dislodged a marker peg. A warning was issued.

HONOLULU LULU (K Wilson) was placed in restricted room after entering the front straight final occasion between CELESTIAL DAYBREAK (M Smith) who was tiring and inclined to shift in and TRIGGER (L Ryan).  HONOLULU LULU broke gait when it contacted the offside sulky wheel of TRIGGER.

RACE 3 – HYGAIN RELEASE PACE - 2230MS

Reinsperson Wayne Hill (LIGHTNING JASH) was reprimanded  under R162(1)(i) for being out of position at the candy pole.

Reinsperson Ken Rogers (CLARENDEN EXPRESS) reprimanded under R162(1)(h) for failing to come into position at the start.

ALWAYS STEAMED UP (D Smith) contacted and dislodged marker peg on the home turn first occasion when it was inclined to shift ground.

RACE 4 – BIANCO REINFORCING PACE – 1800MS

MARTYS PARTY (J Lee) hung outwards in the score up and inconvenienced BOSS MAJOR (L Ryan).

OH SWEET CREATURE (W Hill) hung inwards in the run to the finish obliging driver Hill to stop driving and straighten.

RACE 5 – LADBROKES IT! SOUTHERN CROSS PACE – 1800MS

Pre-race veterinary examination YANKEE CLIPPER as hadn’t started since March 2021. Passed fit to start.

RACE 6 – JIVE CAFE PACE – 2230MS

RACE 7 – KING OF THE NORTH USA TROTTERS MOBILE – 2230MS

A false start was called when KYVALLEY SURFERGIRL (G Pullicino) galloped approaching the start checking BUCKLES (M Smith). KYVALLEY SURFERGIRL will be excluded from draw in future mobile start races.

LADY IN THE SKY (M Norman) hung inwards and raced inside marker pegs near the 250 metres despite efforts of the driver and a warning issued.

RACE 8 – SAHRC MEMBERS BBQ APRIL 28TH  PACE – 1800MS

SHEFFIELD PEAK (G Pullicino) hung outwards in the back straight final occasion allowing an inside run for MERCURY RISING (W Hill).

SHEFFIELD PEAK again hung approaching the home turn when giving ground and BRANSON (T Brown) who had commenced to race outside the sulky wheel of SHEFFIELD PEAK made contact to the wheel and broke gait. A warning was placed on the race manners of SHEFFIELD PEAK. Stewards also reminded Gaita Pullicino to exercise more control when releasing gear as this had also contributed to the horse shifting ground in the back straight.

A post race veterinary examination of BRANSON revealed no abnormalities.

RACE 9 – BARGAIN STEEL CENTRE TROTTERS HANDICAP  – 2230SS

BEWARE THE FURY (K Rogers) galloped in back straight first occasion and a warning issued.
