Stewards Report

Globe Derby Park Saturday 16th November 2024

The sprint lane was in operation for tonights event.

Trainers with multiple runners in any one race provided Stewards with their intentions prior to the event.

RACE 1 – TOBY RYAN EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES PACE – 2230MS

No claims lodged.

CLARENDEN EXPRESS (C Johnson) hung outwards approaching home turn. Stewards also reminded Corey Johnson to keep his body inside confines sulky.

MOOPS (D Hill) utilised sprint lane to win the race.

TOLD YOU TWICE reinstated in draw for future mobile barrier start races.

RACE 2 – NARACOORTE & PENOLA VETERINARY CENTRES 3YO PACE – 1800MS

No racing incidents to report.

RACE 3 –  KEVIN & KAY SEYMOUR PACE (FINAL) – 1800MS

No racing incidents to report.

RACE 4  – 2024 LADBROKES VETERINARY SURGEONS CUP – 2230MS

Warning placed on HES ALL TORQUE (R Hryhorec) out of position at start.

A post-race veterinary examination of UNCLE CHAN at the request of trainer Luke O’Neill revealed no abnormalities. Trainer to advise should anything arise post-race.

RACE 5 – 2024 LADBROKES SA SQUARE TROTTERS ASSOCIATION GRAMEL TROTTERS CUP - – 2645SS

All barrier tapes handheld.

A warning placed on XEBEC (J Holberton) which galloped back straight first occasion.

CYCLONE S ADAMS (D Girardi) hung outwards entering backstraight first occasion inconveniencing RAKERO BLAZE (R Hryhorec). A post-race veterinary examination of CYCLONE S ADAMS which after leading the race gave ground to be beaten 122 Metres revealed no abnormalities. Trainer felt gelding may not be fully over a previous virus and will advise should anything arise post-race.

RACE 6 – EQUUS VETERINARY SERVICES PACE – 1800MS

Stewards ruled a claim lodged by Tayla Warren for MOHS EM DOWN was invalid in accordance with AHRR 73 (1).  In or with respect to a claiming race a person shall not- (a) claim directly or indirectly a horse owned, trained or driven by that person.”

Stewards were satisfied that Tayla Warren had acted in ignorance of the Rule and under the circumstances ordered that the money which had been lodged with HRSA be returned.

A post-race veterinary examination of LADY LA SALLE (W Hill) $2:15 Fav. which after racing without cover gave ground to be beaten 40 metres revealed no abnormalities. Driver felt the mare raced flat.Trainer advised mare will now be spelled.

CLARENDEN LEGACY reinstated in draw future mobile barrier start races.

RACE 7 –PRESTIGE EQUINE VETERINARY TROTTERS HANDICAP  – 2230MS

The start was delayed when STINGOFAWASP (S Hill) broke through front barrier tape.

No action taken against SIR ED (D Smith) which galloped after the start due to the long delay in starting the race.

Trainer Peter Borelli (MAJESTIC LEGEND) was advised the gelding, which was beaten 142 metres will be  placed on last chance to race competitively.

RACE 8 – WD & SJ HARBISON PACE –  - 1800MS

A warning placed on GROWLERS LAST (C Johnson) which galloped approaching turn out front straight after the start and following horses were all checked. DON’T TELL ALICE, WHATA OPTIMIST, MISCHIEVOUS MAGGIE , TRUMPYS LEGEND and MONSIEUR STEEL.

RACE 9 – DR PRATUL EQUINE VET SERVICES PACE  – 1800MS

Stewards questions Ryan Hryhorec (REPETITIVE) as to why he had not taken a trail on TUFFTIGER (G Pullicino) after unsuccessfully challenging for the lead.  Hryhorec was of the view his horse had superior form and even allowing for the work it had done clearly something was amiss with his gelding. A post-rate veterinary examination revealed an elevated heart rate and slow recovery. He was advised to inform Stewards of anything arising post-race.

GENERAL

During the meeting Stewards were informed by drivers of their concern with the track surface.

SAHRC were made aware of the matter.
