KITTYKAT CUTIE – Gave ground from the 400 metres to eventually be beaten 115.0 metres, A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards acting on veterinary advice stood down the filly for 6 days due to poor recovery. Stewards questioned K. Wilson regarding the tactics she adopted in the event, in particular her decision to challenge for the lead, for some distance, as the field raced through the first turn. Ms Wilson explained that the filly does her best work forward and one of her best attributes is her gate speed, initially she had realised that she was going to be unable to lead the event, however she then noticed ALOHA PRINCESS racing rough, so she decided to continue with her pressure and attempt to go to the front, but the challenge was unsuccessful, then she elected to restrain to the position behind the leader. Stewards noted her explanation. K Wilson advised Stewards she would monitor KITTYKAT CUTIE over the next few days and if she was to find anything that would explain her below par performance she would advise stewards, including the results of a blood test they intend to have taken.
LEICA GREY SHARK – Gave ground from the 1000 metres to eventually be beaten 168.0 metres, Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory and stood the filly down until the completion of one satisfactory requalifying trial. Connections of LECIA GREY SHARK advised their intentions are to spell the filly.
