RACE 1 – MILBRAE QUARRIES PACE – 2270 metres

BULLETIN– Post-race swab sampled.

OTIS RISING– Pre-race swab sampled. Driver T Potter was questioned regarding the below market expectations performance of the gelding, she stated that she attempted to lead in the early stages as she was of the view that if they could lead and get away with running relatively moderate sectionals they would be a chance of being competitive, however that did not eventuate. She added the extra distance of today’s race did not suit the gelding, and facing the breeze in the running line throughout over that extra distance added to it being unable to be competitive in the finish.

RACE 2 – YIRRIBEE PACING STUD NSW BRED 3YO HEAT – 1740 metres

SHES BELIEVABLE – Hung-in and contacted marker pegs leaving the 600 metres.

RENROW LAD – Tightened for room leaving the 200 metres between ALTA WILLIAM and GOTTA LOCKHEED which shifted-in, and as a result contacted the sulky wheel of ALTA WILLIAM and broke gait.

MAJOR ALLEGIANCE – Pre-race swab sampled.

GOTTA LOCKHEED– Hung-in leaving the 200 metres, for which a warning was issued, tightening RENROW LAD which was taken down on to ALTA WILLIAM and contacted that runner’s sulky wheel. Furthermore, Driver B Micallef was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that while releasing the gelding’s ear plugs leaving the 200 metres, he has failed to prevent it from shifting in when it hung-in, contributing to the interference to RENROW LAD.

ALTA WILLIAM – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader approaching the 1200 metres. Sulky wheel contacted by RENROW LAD leaving the 200 metres.

HUMBLE– Post-race swab sampled.

RACE 3 – RIVERINA SIGNMAKERS NSW BRED 2YO HEAT – 1740 metres

SANCHEZ– Raced three wide from the start until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader approaching the 1200 metres. Continued to work forward to take over the lead from OUR TRIPLE MAJOR approaching the 1000 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

VALDEZZ – Pre-race swab sampled.

ITZ BAD Broke gait free of interference approaching the 1400 metres, given it was the gelding’s first race start connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial. Checked and broke gait near the 1000 metres when the pace eased.

RACE 4 – STROUD HOMES LADYSHIP PACE – 1740 metres

FIANO– Inconvenienced upon entering the home straight when IDEAL DESIRE hung-out.

IDEAL DESIRE – Broke gait after the start for which a warning was issued. Made a three wide mid race move to take over the lead from OUR ROKU leaving the 1000 metres. Driver W Rixon was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that near the 1000 metres he shifted the gelding in when not sufficiently clear of OUR ROKU which was tightened for room, when considering the incident Stewards took into account that IDEAL DESIRE was inclined to race roughly at that point which contributed to the interference. Hung-out under pressure upon entering the home straight.

PENCIL ME IN – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn, prior to obtaining a run in the sprint lane.

OUR ROKU – Tightened for room near the 1000 metres when IDEAL DESIRE shifted-in and raced roughly, as a result was unable to maintain the lead at that point. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn, prior to obtaining a run in the sprint lane.

EAGLES CROSSING– Pre-race swab sampled.

RACE 5 – SOUTHWEST STOCKFEEDS PACE – 2270 metres

PUDDNDORT– Tired over the concluding stages and beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities, although the filly did have a slower than normal post-race recovery. Driver C Maggs, when questioned regarding the performance, stated that he didn’t feel the filly was suited over the longer distance of today’s race. Connections were advised it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

ALPHA STRIDE– Pre-race swab sampled.

SYENITE – Made a three wide mid race move to take over the lead from ALPHA STRIDE leaving the 1000 metres.

LESSISMORE– Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader leaving the 1800 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities, although the mare did have a slower than normal post-race recovery. Connections were advised it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

OLE CHESTER – Over-raced during the early stages of the event. Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader near the 1400 metres. Continued to over-race during the middle stages of the event.

RACE 6 – NSWSOA PACE – 1740 metres

DAY TWO– Pre-race swab sampled.

WILD BULL NZ – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take over the lead from CHART TOPPER approaching the 1200 metres.

CHART TOPPER– Worked forward to take over the lead from PAYROLL near the 1400 metres. Trainer/Driver N Jack was given the opportunity to comment on the performance of the gelding, he stated that he was happy with its performance last start, although it was beaten, given the times run particularly the last half mile of that race, as felt it did finish the race off well given its tough run. He added he had been experimenting with the way it was being worked in an endeavour to get it to race more genuinely and felt it had taken benefit from that. He further added that from the wide draw today with his main danger in his view being BITTERSWEET being drawn on the second row, he felt his best chance to beat that runner was to get a forward position ahead of it, so pushed forward from the start to lead and then was able to get a trail behind WILD BULL NZ which he felt would take him to a position to be competitive at the finish. N Jack further added he was able to get out from behind that runner rounding the home turn and build momentum, although he did feel his runner didn’t continue through to the line as well as it should have once it got to the front. He added that he feels it does have the ability to be able to lead in its races depending on the field but would be likely to race best with a trail in higher class races. Post-race swab sampled.

RACE 7 – HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1740 metres

FIFTYSHADESOFHAY NZ – Broke gait during the score-up and was out of position at the start, given the mare’s record connections were advised that it would be placed outside the draw for future mobile start races.

BACKWARDS FIRST– Driver W Rixon was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of the mare, he stated that she can pull quite hard in her races, and after being able to lead from the good draw, in particular after FIFTYSHADESOFHAY NZ missed the start, he allowed her to run along at her own pace rather than fighting her, which he felt she appreciated. Trainer N Hargraves agreed with those comments and added that he felt she didn’t handle the rain effected track at Young at her most recent start. He added that she has raced best when able to find the lead, and had removed her tongue-tie prior to today’s run in an endeavour to get her to race more tractably, and he felt the mare had benefitted from that change. Post-race swab sampled.

HONEST HARRIETTE – Checked from behind the tiring SYLVIA KAY NZ near the 400 metres.

SYLVIA KAY NZ– Pre-race swab sampled. Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader approaching the 1200 metres. Tired over the concluding stages and beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities, although the mare did have a slower than normal post-race recovery. When questioned regarding the performance Driver S Hallcroft stated that he had to work harder than he would have preferred in the early stages from the wide draw to obtain a forward position as instructed. He added that following the race the mare was breathing quite heavily which she has in the past on occasions when she hadn’t raced well. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities, although the mare did have a slower than normal post-race recovery. Trainer L Mulley stated that it was his intention to have his Vet further exam the mare in the coming days in an effort to identify any possible issues, and undertook to report the results of that back to Stewards. Connections were advised the mare would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.
