LORIMERMAJOR – Inconvenienced near the 400 metres when ROLL THE ACES broke gait.
THE CLOCK WINDER– Pre-race swab sampled.
RACE 5 – SUCCESS STUD PACE – 1740 metres
General– The all-clear for this race was delayed to allow Stewards to view the patrol footage of the home straight to ascertain whether GLAMORS SYMBOL, which had been placed fifth past the post, had its finishing position affected when UNCHAINMYART shifted down into the sprint lane placing it in restricted room leaving the 100 metres. After viewing the footage, Stewards gave the all-clear on the judge’s numbers as they were of the view that UNCHAINMYART did shift down into the sprint lane, tightening GLAMORS SYMBOL, however they felt if that had not occurred the placing’s would not have been altered.
GLAMORS SYMBOL – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start. Tightened for room leaving the 100 metres when UNCHAINMYART shifted-in.
SPORTY BANYULA– Post-race swab sampled.
UNCHAINMYART– Worked forward to take over the lead from GLAMORS SYMBOL leaving the 1400 metres. Driver B Harpley was fined $200 under Rule 167(2) for failing to take any action to remove the filly from the sprint lane after it entered it upon entering the home straight when it was not available to them due to them leading, as a result GLAMORS SYMBOL was placed in restricted room leaving the 100 metres.

RACE 7 – WALSH & BLAIR PACE – 1740 metres

MELATI BOY– Pre-race swab sampled.
IMPERIOUS– Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Post-race swab sampled.
TIGER CHEDDAR– Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from a poor post-race recovery. Driver H Ross was given the opportunity to comment on the below market expectation performance of the filly, he stated that he was instructed to go forward at the start, but after not being able to lead they were left racing without cover outside the leader which he felt did not suit the filly in this grade. He added that having said that he was disappointed with her effort considering her last start when she ran on well although that was after racing with cover.
THATS THE ATTITUDE– Inconvenienced after the start when WALLY BLASTER broke gait. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn, prior to obtaining a run in the sprint lane.
RACE 8 – WOODLANDS STUD PACE – 1740 metres
MOST CERTAIN MICKY– Inconveniencedapproaching the 200 metres behind the tiring ARKLOW.
SHERMAN– Pre-race swab sampled.
BLUES TERROR– Post-race swab sampled.
OURMATE GEEJAY– Inconveniencednear the 400 metres behind the tiring ARKLOW. Tired over the concluding stages. Trainer/Driver R Walker was questioned regarding the tactics adopted and overall performance of the horse, in particular his continuing to drive his runner forward in the early stages of the event to maintain the lead when challenged by ARKLOW, given the quick early sectional time being run, given the class of the race. R Walker stated that his runner has only ever won when it has led, so once he was able to lead he was reluctant to surrender that position. He added that he is of the view that whenever the horse obtains cover it doesn’t try and runs badly. He further added he didn’t feel that the form of ARKLOW was very strong so did not want to hand-up the lead to it in particular, however once he realised its Driver was continuing to drive it forward to get to the lead he elected to let it go. R Walker conceded that the early sectional speed of the race may have impacted on his runner being able to be competitive at the finish of the race. R Walker was issued with a reprimand under Rule 149(2) for driving in a manner which in the opinion of Stewards was unacceptable, in that he had shown a lack of judgement when continuing to drive his runner forward from approaching the 1400 metres to near the 1200 metres, contributing to the first sectional being run in 27.1 seconds, which was too quick for that class of runner resulting in it tiring over the concluding stages. In not taking greater action Stewards took into account R Walker’s clear record under this rule.
ARKLOW– Worked forward to take over the lead from OURMATE GEEJAY near the 1200 metres. Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer/Driver B Duck was questioned regarding the tactics adopted and overall performance of the mare, in particular his continuing to drive his runner forward from leaving the 1600 metres in an endeavour to take the lead off OURMATE GEEJAY until getting to the lead near the 1200 metres, given the quick early sectional time being run, and given the class of the race and the exposed recent form of his runner. B Duck stated that he had changed how he was training the mare since her last start, she had been working well and he was pleased with her run in a trial at Coolamon on the 27th of October, which she won easily after leading. He added that given that he felt if he was able to lead in tonight’s field she was going to be hard to beat so that was his intention going into the race. He further added that he felt he was all but across OURMATE GEEJAY near the 1400 metres and didn’t feel he was going to have to do much more to cross it but it kept kicking up to his inside, resulting in him having to work the mare harder than he would have preferred. B Duck added that he thought OURMATE GEEJAY would surrender to his runner given his runner was at a shorter price than it. He added that while the early speed may have contributed to his runner tiring, he was disappointed with its run given he felt the second quarter was run fairly steadily giving the mare a breather. B Duck was issued with a reprimand under Rule 149(2) for driving in a manner which in the opinion of Stewards was unacceptable, in that he had shown a lack of judgement when continuing to drive his runner forward from leaving the 1600 metres to near the 1200 metres in an endeavour to obtain the lead, while the first sectional was being run in 27.1 seconds, which was too quick for that class of runner resulting in it tiring over the concluding stages. In not taking greater action Stewards took into account B Duck’s clear record under this rule.
ROCKING MANDY – Out of position at the start, for which a warning was issued.
