NIFTY AMBITION– Tired over the concluding stages after leading. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Driver T Osmond was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, she stated that the intention was to lead as she and the Trainer felt if it was able to lead and could get a relatively easy time of it in front, it would be competitive. She added that while it did receive a bit of mid-race pressure from TROUBLE IN HEAVEN she was a bit disappointed with its effort over the concluding stages. She further added that the stable had indicated that they would be spelling the gelding after today’s run.
TROUBLE IN HEAVEN– Post-race swab sampled.
LENNY LINCOLN NZ– Driver R Coelli was fined the sum of $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using his whip with an action that was more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight.
SPORTS NARRATOR– Out of position at the start. Driver P Salathiel was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position behind the mobile with the colt until the start.
RACE 2 – WARRAWEE NEEDY @ YIRRIBEE PACING STUD PACE – 2270 metres
OUTRAGEOUS REBEL – Raced roughly under pressure upon entering the home straight.
WHEN TO FOLDEM – Raced roughly near the 800 metres.

SECRET SEA – Pre-race swab sampled. Made a three wide mid race move to take over the lead from WHEN TO FOLDEM near the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sampled.
RACE 3 – HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAX GUTHRIE PACE – 2270 metres
HEAVENLY REASON – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.
KISSED BY A ROSE – Pre-race swab sampled. Trainer D Atkinson was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of the mare, which was having its first start for him, he stated that he go the mare about a week after its last run and he felt it was a bit light on when it arrived and was getting down on its bumpers and appeared a bit sore over its back. He added he wormed the mare, put her on his feed regime, had his Chiropractor do some work on her and had been exercising her on his water walker, which he felt she had taken benefit from. He further added that she had been working well, felt she had trialled well leading up to today’s race and was reasonably confident of a forward showing based on those factors. Post-race swab sampled. Delayed post-race sample taken approximately 2.5 hours after the event.
LUVTOO – Trainer/Driver B Harpley was given the opportunity to comment on the below market expectations performance of the mare, he stated he was very disappointed with it today and was at a loss to explain it. He added it raced how it normally does, in that it tends to drop the bit rounding the home turn, and then gets going again to finish off its race in the home straight, but today it didn’t get going again despite his urgings. He further added that it may not have been suited over the extra distance of today’s race.
DEE TERROR– Made a three wide mid race move to take over the position outside the leader near the 1400 metres.
RACE 4 – RIVERINA CRANE SERVICES PACE – 1740 metres
MISSAUDACIOUS – Broke gait during the score-up and a false start was declared, given it was the mare’s first race start connections were advised that it would be placed outside the draw for future mobile start races. Broke free of interference near the 1600 metres, galloped for some distance and was retired from the event. Driver T Osmond, when questioned regarding her retiring it, stated she had to basically get it back to a walk to get it back pacing and by that time the rest of the field was a considerable distance away. She added the mare appeared fine in its gait when returning to its race day tie-up stalls. A post-race Veterinary examination was not conducted due to Trainer J Stockton having taken the mare from the course prior to it being able to be done. J Stockton was contacted and reminded of his obligations to have his runners remain on course for 30 minutes after the race unless he has obtained permission to leave. Given the circumstances connections were advised the mare would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.
MISS PIPPA – Inconvenienced leaving the 1600 metres when MISSAUDACIOUS broke gait.
BERRYLICIOUS –Broke gait free of interference near the 200 metres, given it was just the mare’s third race start connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial. Trainer/Driver D Picker was questioned regarding the tactics adopted with the mare, in particular the quick first quarter time set while leading, he stated that he had to drive the mare out to cross MISSAUDACIOUS to get to the lead in the early stages which fired her up. He added that she is a free rolling type of runner and ran that time under her own steam. He further added that in his view it looked as though they were running a lot quicker than they were due to the interference to other runners when MISSAUDACIOUS broke gait. D Picker was further questioned regarding him not taking the mare back outside the marker pegs after it broke gait near the 200 metres and veered inside them, he stated that he remained where they were as he was not sure where the rest of the field were and did not want to cause interference to anyone. He added that he was also not a chance of finishing in the placing’s so felt it best to stay inside the pegs out of the way of the other runners. D Picker’s comments were noted.
FEAR THE PAIN NZ– Pre-race swab sampled. Inconvenienced leaving the 1600 metres when MISSAUDACIOUS broke gait.

Raced roughly during the score-up at the second attempt, given it was just the gelding’s third race start connections were advised that it would be placed outside the draw for future mobile start races. Broke gait free of interference approaching the 1400 metres, Driver M Hawke reported she felt she had to check her runner at that point when MISSAUDACIOUS broke gait, and they noticed after the race that the gelding’s rein had gotten caught over its bit which may have affected it. Given the circumstances and it’s record, connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.
SPLASH ATTAQUE – Tightened for room when racing to the inside of FEAR THE PAIN NZ leaving the 1000 metres and contacted a number of marker pegs. Tired over the concluding stages for which a warning was issued.

TICK A LOCH– Trainer/Driver B Harpley was questioned after Stewards received a complaint from a participant that they believed they had seen him strike the filly with his fist on more than one occasion upon return to the race day tie-up stalls following the event. B Harpley stated that when he returned to the tie-ups he was on his own and when trying to attach the filly to the rail it shifted forwards and he was concerned it was going to get cast on the rail which could result in it falling and injuring itself or damaging the sulky, so he yelled at it and shoved it back with an open hand to get it to go back. He added he was then given assistance by a stablehand to get the filly settled and into position to be able to ungear her. That stablehand was questioned about what they had observed and their evidence was that they had heard B Harpley yell at the filly and saw him push it back with his open hand. A Veterinary examination of the filly did not reveal any concerns. Given the circumstances no action was taken against B Harpley.
