The announcement of all clear was delayed when driver Ricki Duggan (OHANA BY THE SEA) advised the all clear steward that he wished to lodge a protest against the winner IDEN REGAL WAVE for alleged being forced wider in the run to the finish.

Stewards after hearing all the evidence and viewing the official patrol films and acting on their own observations believed the material extent of the interference suffered to OHANA BY THE SEA came from a shift from the inside from BOLT OF COBARGO (Olivia Weidenbach) rather from the winner. Stewards dismissed the protest and gave all clear on the judge’s numbers.

The announcement of all clear was further delayed when the driver of the third place Olivia Weidenbach advised the all clear steward that she wished to lodge a protest against the winner IDEN REGAL WAVE (M Yole) for allegedly being forced wider in the back straight on the final occasion. Stewards after considering the evidence tendered during the protest hearing and taking into consideration the margin between the two runners at the finish were satisfied that the interference was minimal and did not warrant changing the judge’s placings. Stewards dismissed the protest and gave all clear on the judge’s numbers.

Stewards questioned driver Olivia Weidenbach following the running of this event into the comments made on leaving the stewards room following the decision on the double protest. Stewards after taking evidence from Olivia Weidenbach and acting on their own observations charged Ms Weidenbach under provisions of rule 231 (2).

The particulars of the charge were that on leaving the inquiry room she misconducted herself by using foul language on exiting the inquiry room. Ms Weidenbach pleaded guilty to the charge and had her driver’s licence suspended for 4 race dates and fined a sum of five hundred dollars. The monitory amount of $500.00 was invoked as it had been suspended over her following an incident last week after a breach of the same rule. The suspension will commence following the completion of the race meeting on Sunday 01-12-2024 in Launceston.
