General: Due to recent rain, track inspections were carried out at 12:30pm and 2:45pm. On inspection the track was deemed safe for racing purposes.

RACE 1  –  CAVALOR EQUICARE PACE  –  1609m  Mobile

MISS DUTTON – Slow to muster speed after the start where it tended to hang out.

WILD RUMMY– Raced greenly, hanging out.

PEANUT SUTTER– Caught wide early before restraining to the rear of the field. Had difficulty in securing clear running over the concluding stages.

RACE 2  –  LADBROKES BET TICKER PACE  –  2090m  Mobile

TIGERLICIOUS – Subjected to a post-race Veterinary inspection after tiring to be beaten in excess of 80 metres. No significant findings could be detected.  Placed on its last chance to race competitively.

JILLIBY MENDOZA– Shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish.

General: At the ‘check-in’, M Ford, the driver of the second placed SHES A TINY DANCER, lodged a protest against JILLIBY MENDOZA (R Hillier) being declared the winner, alleging interference suffered to SHES A TINY DANCER due to the shifting of ground of JILLIBY MENDOZA. Stewards after taking evidence from the drivers, reviewing the official race footage and acting on their own observations dismissed the protest, declaring ‘all-clear’ on the judge’s numbers 6-7-1-5-4. Stewards in reaching their decision were of the view that although JILLIBY MENDOZA had shifted ground, SHES A TINY DANCER had ample time to catch and pass that mare, in fact over the final stages JILLIBY MENDOZA was increasing the gap between the two horses.

RACE 3  –  PRYDES EASIFEED EVICUS HEAT ONE  –  1609m  Mobile

SMILING MIA – Tended to over-race in the middle stages of the event. Shifted in sharply when angled in to utilise the sprint-lane, resulting in its sulky wheel passing inside a marker.

ISLA ATHENA– Driven forward from the start and eased to take a trail behind the leader after unsuccessfully challenging for the lead. Gave ground over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary inspection failed to find any issues with the filly. Trainer P Ashwood informed Stewards that ISLA ATHENA would be spelled immediately, stating that the filly had been up some time and would appreciate the break. Stewards took no action other than to note trainer Ashwood’s comments.

General: Stewards delayed the ‘all-clear’ allowing them to review the official race footage, to confirm or otherwise that no advantage was gained when SMILING MIA shifted in resulting in its sulky passing inside a marker. On review, it was confirmed no advantage was gained, and as such Stewards declared ‘all-clear’ on the judge’s numbers 5-2-3-1-6.

RACE 4  –  PRYDES EASIFEED EVICUS HEAT TWO  –  1609m  Mobile

SMOOTH REASON – Raced rough after the start.

RACE 5  – PRYDES EASIFEED DANDY PATCH PRELUDE  –  2090m  Mobile

POST LAZARUS – Hung out entering the turn after the bell, and when checked by its driver lost momentum resulting in STONE WRITER, which was trailing that horse to be checked, contacting POST LAZARUS’s sulky and break gait. A warning was placed on POST LAZARUS.

OUTRIGER– Utilised the sprint lane in the run to the finish.

MEL RUSTY KITA– Checked approaching the 400 when IDEN REGAL WAVE began to give ground.

IDEN REGAL WAVE– Worked forward from the start, unsuccessfully challenging for the early lead, left leading the one-out line. Under pressure from the 500, began to give ground approaching the 400. Sulky contacted by OKANUI BEACH as a result.

OKANUI BEACH– Checked by the tiring IDEN REGAL WAVE approaching the 400, resulting in it breaking gait after contacting its sulky. Had difficulty in securing clear running over the concluding stages.

STONE WRITER– Checked and broke gait, approaching the 900, when POST LAZARUS shifted ground.

IMPERIAL SANZ– Tended to race green. Checked approaching the 900, as a result of POST LAZARUS shifting ground and STONE WRITER breaking gait.

RACE 6  –  TASMANIAN HORSE TRANSPORT PACE  –  1609m  Mobile

ROCKS ROY – Slow to muster speed after the start.

CAPTAIN DAN– Had difficulty in securing clear running over the concluding stages.

RACE 7  –  MORE CONFIDENCE CONSULTING PACE  –  2090m  Mobile

YARECKON IM SWEET– Redrawn to start from the outside of the front line after gaining ODM status at its most recent start.

IMPULZE– Held up for clear running until well into the home straight for the run to the finish.

DONNY IN PARIS– Inconvenienced approaching the 1400 when the pace of the race eased and contacted from behind by MAJOR LESTER which was over-racing at the time. This incident may have contributed to DONNY IN PARIS being eased wider at that point.

STORMONT START– Placed on its last chance to race truly after breaking gait leaving the 150. It was noted leading up to this incident driver J Duggan was looking for clear running as runners ahead were giving ground.

MAJOR LESTER– Tended to over-race. Raced up on the back of DONNY IN PARIS when the pace eased approaching the 1400.

General: Driver D Ford was fined $200 due to the unapproved manner he used his whip after securing clear running approaching the 150 [AHR Rule 156(2)(a)].

RACE 8  –  FEHLBERGS PRODUCE SPRINTLANE PACE  –  2090m  Mobile

BET SHEZA LADY– Tended to over-race when racing in behind the leader. Held up for clear running until able to utilise the sprint lane.

I WANT IT ALL NZ– Shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish.

LALIBELA NZ – Tended to over-race.
