SUPPLEMENTARY   Launceston Pacing Club 10/07/2022 Race 4

Driver P Ashwood was suspended for 3 race dates after being found guilty of a charge under AHRR165(1)(b). Particulars of the charge were that he as the driver of IMHOOKED moved his horse to the the marker pegs around the first turn when not one metre clear of the horse to his inside (SPORTZSILK) which in turn tightened the running of NAURU, causing it to be checked and race inside a marker peg. Stewards took into account Mr Ashwood’s good recent record under this rule when determining the penalty issued.

 

RACE 1 – TASMANIAN EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES PACE 2090 METRES

BETTORBLAST NZ was out of position at the start and has been placed on its last chance in the mobile draw.

WESTRAY hung out soon after the start and slightly inconvenienced OUR BRIGHT LIGHT.

OUR BRIGHT LIGHT gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten in excess of 34 metres.

HALIS BOY tired to be beaten in excess of 58 metres and has been placed on its last chance to race competitively.

Driver Z Slater (BALDASARRE) was fined the sum of $400 after being found guilty of a charge under AHRR156(2)(a) regarding his whip action which was deemed not to be a wrist only flicking action.

RACE 2 – TASMANIAN HORSE TRANSPORT PACE – 2090 METRES

CINOCAL JAMANE showed gate speed to lead however was unable to hold the front when challenged by REMEMBER ME NOW NZ.

Driver M Ford (VELOCITY STRIDE) was advised to further modify his whip action to ensure no breaches of the whip rule.

RACE 3 – GREAT NORTHERN PACE – 2090 METRES

KARMIC FIRE NZ was out of position at the start and has been placed on its last chance in the mobile draw.

NIGHT SPIRIT was out of position at the start and has been placed on its last chance in the mobile draw.

RANIERI NZ was out of position at the start and has been placed on its last chance in the mobile draw.

ULTIMATE ME NZ hung out shortly after the start and then gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten in excess of 43 metres.

REDS GOOD TO GO was caught wide early before being restrained to race at the rear of the field.

After the running of this event trainers were advised that mudguards and splash sheets were required for the remaining races.

RACE 4 – NUTRIEN SPRINTLANE PACE –1609 METRES

SHAUN TO THE MAX broke in the score-up before contacting the barrier arm and breaking causing a false start.

SHAUN TO THE MAX has been placed out of the draw in future mobile events.

SHANDYMAN was caught wide early before being restrained to race at the rear of the field before tiring to be beaten in excess of 77 metres. SHANDYMAN underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities and the gelding has been stood down until the completion of a satisfactory trial.

SAFE UNDER FIRE underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 89 metres and was found to be lame in the off-hind leg. SAFE UNDER FIRE has been stood down until the receipt of a veterinary clearance.

RACE 5 – PRYDES EASIFEED PACE–2090 METRES

HEZ RAZOR SHARP was caught wide early before restraining to race at the rear of the field.

SPORTS CANDY hung in and contacted a marker peg around the home turn. A warning was issued.

STREETSIDE CLASSIC locked wheels momentarily with WHERE YA BIN NZ in the home straight.

RACE 6 –PHOENIX BASKETBALL PACE–2090 METRES

LORIMERMAJOR showed gate speed early to lead the event before surrendering the lead to OUR BALOU who worked forward

AHA REACTION NZ was caught wide early before restraining to race at the rear of the field.

THE DEMOCRAT was held up early before gaining clear running in the home straight.

RACE 7 – LADBROKES PACE–1609 METRES

BEAST MODE locked wheels with COOL SCOOTER NZ in the home straight.

WE SALUTE YOU momentarily locked wheels with PROSECUTION WITNESS NZ on the home turn when PROSECUTION WITNESS NZ shifted out slightly when checked behind TARLETON RILEY

T Yole (authorized representative of trainer B Yole) was queried about the performance of SMOOTH DEAL NZ ($2.2 fav) which after leading the event gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten in excess of 19 metres. Mr Yole stated that the horse had only recently joined the stable from interstate and may not have settled in as well as expected. Mr Yole undertook to monitor the gelding over the coming days and report anything that may have affected his performance tonight.

RACE 8 – CASCADE DRAUGHT PACE–2090 METRES

JAMES DEAN NZ galloped away and has been placed on his last chance in the standing start draw.

EUREKA galloped away and has been placed on his last chance in the standing start draw.

IZAHA galloped away and has been placed out of the draw in future standing start events.

VINNY CHASE galloped away and will continue to be out of the draw in future standing start events.

AQUA SANCTA NZ led early before surrendering the lead to CALL ME HECTOR who worked forward to take over the front.

VINNY CHASE galloped away and will continue to be out of the draw in future standing start events.

AQUA SANCTA NZ underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 204 metres which revealed the gelding to have suffered an atrial fibrillation and as such has been stood down for a period of 14 days. An ECG will be required before the completion of a satisfactory trial before the gelding will be eligible to race again.

RACE 9 – CLAREMONT CRICKET CLUB PACE–2090 METRES

WILL AND ANDY was restrained to the rear of the field after the start.

WILL AND ANDY momentarily locked wheels with BRIAN WHO at the 500 metre mark

Stewards questioned T Yole, (authorized representative of trainer B Yole) about the seemingly improved performance of the winner JO DINA. Mr Yole stated that the mare had been freshened up since her last run and had received a very favourable run in the race tonight. Stewards noted Mr Yoles explanation.

RACE 10 – RACING CONNECT PACE–2090 METRES

IDEAL PACE galloped shortly after the start and has been placed out of the draw in future mobile events.

STAROFREMEMBRANCE underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 77 metres. No abnormalities were detected and the mare has been placed on her last chance to race competitively.

IFITSTOBEITSUPTOME underwent a post-race veterinary examination after giving ground over the concluding stages to be beaten in excess of 41 metres. No significant findings were apparent.

When queried about the performance Trainer P Ashwood stated that he was disappointed with the performance tonight and would be obtaining blood samples from the gelding in the coming days and undertook to inform Stewards of any adverse findings.
