Trainers with multiple runners engaged in any race were questioned as to their intended driving tactics.
All runners that raced at the Launceston Pacing Cub meeting on 01 July 2022 underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were passed suitable to start.
RACE 1 – TASMANIAN EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES PACE – 1609 METRES
IMHOOKED slightly out of position at the start.
WAVES STRIDE slightly out of position at the start.
DUKES CHOICE broke free of interference as the field raced towards the home turn. This gelding has been stood down until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
ALWAYS BE BRENDAN hung out as the field raced down the back straight on the final occasion. A warning was issued.
RACE 2 – GREAT NORTHERN PACE– 2090 METRES
ASHLEYS BLUE CHIP was held up early for clear racing room.
TRUE STEPPER was held up over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully tested.
IDEN BOUTIQUE utilised the sprint lane to win the event.
Driver Mitch Ford (REMEMBER ME NOW NZ) pleaded guilty to a charge under AHHR162(1)(y) in that he failed to adhere to the minimum time standards for the first half of the last mile. Mr. Ford was fined the sum of $100.
RACE 3 – MEEKER FILLIES & MARES SERIES– 2090 METRES
MISS MILLIE gave ground over the concluding stages.
LALASA paced roughly during the score up and shortly after the start. This mare has been placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.
Driver Mark Yole (IDEN MISS LUCY) was found guilty of a charge under AHHR156(2)(a) in that he used the whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion. Mr. Yole was fined the sum of $200.
RACE 4 – PRYDES EASIFEED PACE–1609 METRES
PROSECUTION WITNESS NZ was held up early for clear racing room.
KICK IT TO JACK and WITH REVENGE were held up over the concluding stages and unable to be fully tested.
Driver Tiarna Ford (WHERE YA BIN NZ) was reprimanded after pleading guilty to a charge under AHHR162(1)(i) in that she failed to come up to the starting gate by the candy pole.
Driver Lachlan Dakin (BELIEVE IN FOREVER) was reprimanded after pleading guilty a charge under AHHR162(1)(i) in that he failed to come up to the starting gate by the candy pole.
RACE 5 – ROKEBY CRICKET CLUB PACE–2090 METRES
VINNY CHASE galloped out and placed outside the draw in future standing start events.
BUSTER WILLIAM galloped out and placed outside the draw in future standing start events.
AQUA SANCTA NZ galloped out and will continue to be placed outside the draw in future standing start events.
THE SHALLOWS galloped out and has been placed on its last chance in future standing start draws.
The all clear for this event was delayed when Driver Mark Yole (BUSTER WILLIAM) wished to view the patrol films of the field racing around the home turn on the final occasion. After viewing the films, all clear was given on the judge’s numbers.
RACE 6 –TASMANIAN HORSE TRANSPORT PACE–2090 METRES
IDEN DELIGHT raced roughly at various stages of this event.
ROYAL REACTOR was held up over the concluding stages and unable to be fully tested.
Driver Nathan Ford (EIPPERMILL) was reprimanded after pleading guilty a charge under AHHR162(1)(h) in that he failed to come fully into position at the start of this event.
RACE 7 – NUTRIEN SPRINTLANE PACE–2090 METRES
KIKKIMI hung in and contact the marker pegs as the field raced around the home turn on the final occasion. A warning was placed on this mare.
GUIDO DA SIENA NZ tired over the concluding stages to be beaten in excess of 52.4 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities, this gelding was placed on its last chance to race competitively.
Trainer Ben Yole believed the gelding did not back up from its previous engagement on Friday night. Stewards noted Mr. Yole’s comments.
NINE DIAMONDS was retired from this event as the field raced out of the home straight on the final occasion. This mare underwent a post-race veterinary examination, and no abnormalities were detected. Consequently, NINE DIAMONDS was stood down until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
Driver Nathan Ford (VIGOROSO NZ) pleaded guilty to a charge under AHHR156(2)(a) in that he used his whip over the concluding stages with more than a wrist only flicking motion. Mr. Ford was fined the sum of $200.
RACE 8 – CASCADE DRAUGHT PACE–2090 METRES
AHA REACTION NZ hung in and raced roughly as the field raced around the home turn on the final occasion.
RACE 9 – LADBROKES PACE–2090 METRES
THE DUDE NZ broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. This gelding has been placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.
ENDEAVOUR STRIDE broke free of interference as the field raced past the 400m mark. Stewards spoke to driver Charlie Castles who could offer no explanation other than he believed the gelding simply blundered. This gelding has been placed on its last chance to race truly.
CAPTAIN COSMONAUT hung in as the field raced down the back straight on the final occasion. A warning has been placed on this gelding.
CAPTAIN COSMONAUT was severely checked as ENDEAVOUR STRIDE broke and galloped for the remainder of the event.
