RACE 1  –  LADBROKES OWN SPRING PACE–  1609m  Mobile

PARTY BLAZE – Excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events after breaking gait shortly after the start.

KOZACZYNSKI – Back from its allotted position at the start. On questioning driver A McDonough informed Stewards, he checked the gelding late in the score-up as it had begun to over-race.

RACE 2  –  FEHLBERGS PRODUCE SPRINTLANE PACE–  2090m  Mobile

NO NUKES SKIPPER NZ – Raced to the early lead, withstanding a challenge from PARK LANE NZ. Completed the event with broken spreaders, this may have contributed to the gelding shifting up the track over the concluding stages.

PARK LANE NZ – Unsuccessful at an attempt to secure the early lead. Restrained on the first turn to race in behind the leader.

VINCENTAUR – Having its first register race start since January 2024. Raced rough at times and shifted ground entering the back straight on the final occasion.

BET SHEZA LADY – Held up in the early stages of the home straight in the run to the finish.

WATCH IT HAPPEN – Inconvenienced being momentarily tightened, when PARK LANE NZ was positioned to race in behind the leader.

General: Driver N Ford was reprimanded due to the careless manner he shifted ground with PARK LANE NZ, near the 1900, which momentarily caused a tightening to WATCH IT HAPPEN [AHR Rule 168(1)(a)].

RACE 3  –  CAVALOR EQUICARE TASMANIAN OAKS–  2090m  Mobile

TAMBROS TILLY – Placed on its last chance to race truly after racing rough approaching the 200 and then breaking gait whilst under pressure, free of interference, leaving the 150.

RACE 4  –  PRYDES EASIFEED EVICUS FINAL–  1609m  Mobile

OUR WILLOW – Tightened for racing room in the latter stages of the score-up when ARK MELODY shifted in. this tightening resulted in OUR WILLOW’s sulky wheel striking markers.

ARK MELODY – Shifted ground approaching the start, tightening the running of OUR WILLOW for a short distance.

OHANA BY THE SEA – Stood down from racing until satisfactorily completing one(1) qualifying trial after breaking gait entering the first turn free of interference, again leaving the 1500, and also hanging in, tightening runners to its inside in the latter stages of the home turn and on straightening.

TULLAH GIRL – Driven forward from the start, unsuccessfully challenging for the early lead. Placed on its last chance to race competitively after giving ground over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 90 metres.

SMOOTH REASON – Checked first turn when OHANA BY THE SEA broke gait. Stewards questioned driver Yole Regarding the overall performance of the race favourite. Driver Yole informed Stewards that after receiving the check on the first turn and carried wide through the incident, he elected to move the filly down closer to the markers, however from that point on raced a little ungenerously, racing rough at times, driver Yole added that he was under the impression that SMOOTH REASON, as the filly has had a solid first up preparation, would now be given a let up. Stewards noted the evidence as tendered, and informed driver Yole that they would be speaking with trainer Mark Reggett to discuss the connections intensions.

ITSMENOTU – Inconvenienced in the latter stages of the score-up as OUR WILLOW raced over markers. Back from its allotted position when the start was effected. Shifted out into the one-out line approaching the 900.

BARBARY TALES – Hung in on straightening, tightening runners to its inside. Driver B Davis was reminded of his obligations with regard correcting his horse in a more time friendly manner.

THE BRIDE – Checked near the 900, forced to raced wide.

BRIDWOOD SUE – Will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in mobile start events after failing to fill its allotted position at the start. Placed on its last chance to race truly after breaking gait, free of interference leaving the 1400.

General: At the check-in, R Duggan, the driver of the fourth placed THE BRIDE, requested the opportunity to review the official race footage as he had concerns regarding an incident racing toward the 900. On review, driver Duggan lodged an official protest against ITSMENOTU (N Ford) being declared third, alleging movement of that filly, approaching the 900, forced THE BRIDE wider on the track, causing it to cover more ground than necessary. Stewards, after taking evidence from both drivers, reviewing the official race footage and considering their own observations, dismissed the protest, although acknowledging there was indeed movement wider on the track of ITSMENOTU, obliging THE BRIDE to race wide, albeit for a short distance, they could not be certain to the required standard that the placings would have been reversed had the incident not occurred, and as such Stewards declared “All-Clear” on the judge’s numbers 9-3-8-10-7.

At a subsequent inquiry driver Ford was found guilty of a charge of ‘making another horse (THE BRIDE) cover more ground than necessary’. Stewards after hearing submissions on penalty suspended driver Ford’s licence to drive for two(2) Tasmanian Race Dates. Stewards directed that the suspension take effect after driver Ford completes his driving engagements at the Launceston Pacing Club on Sunday November 3rd, 2024 [AHR Rule 163(1)(b)(i)].

RACE 5  – PRYDES EASIFEED DANDY PATCH FINAL–  2090m  Mobile

MEL RUSTY KITA – Over-raced and pulled hard racing outside the leader. Tired badly to be beaten in excess of 120 metres. Stewards deemed the performance below the required standard and as such stood MEL RUSTY KITA down from racing until satisfactorily completing one(1) qualifying trial.

OURTIGER – Checked racing into the first turn when STONE WRITER broke gait. Momentarily locked wheels with ZEUS IMMORTAL when that gelding raced rough leaving the 1300. Inconvenienced when MEL RUSTY KITA tired back through the field.

FLYING VINNIE – Inconvenienced when MEL RUSTY KITA tired back through the field.

STONE WRITER – Stood down from racing after breaking gait on two occasions (2000 and 1150) and being pulled up out of the event.

ZEUS IMMORTAL – Will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile starts after failing to fill its allotted position at the start. Checked racing into the first turn when STONE WRITER broke gait. Raced rough and shifted out leaving the 1300, momentarily locking wheels with OUTRIGER.

General: Stewards questioned trainer A Duggan over the overall performance of ZEAU IMMORTAL, trainer Duggan admitted to being somewhat disappointed but based on the times run and the circumstances of the race, that being checked into the first turn and being obliged to chase from that point forward, he was satisfied with the performance. Trainer Duggan went on to say that he believes ZEUS IMMORTAL has come to the end of his preparation and as such will turn the gelding out for a spell. Stewards noted the evidence as tendered.

RACE 6  –  CAVALOR EQUICARE TASMANIAN DERBY–  2579m  Mobile

BETTABLACK TIGER – Slow to muster speed at the start. Checked and momentarily broke gait when the pace of the race eased leaving the 1200.

CUSTOM HARLEY – Checked and momentarily raced rough when the pace of the race eased leaving the 1200.

JORGE STREET – Checked and momentarily raced rough when the pace of the race eased leaving the 1200.

General: Driver J Watson was reminded of his obligations regarding reducing the speed of the race. Of note, the manner he eased near the 1200 when taking a trail behind KINGMAN NZ when that colt worked its way around the field.

General: Driver J Leedham pled guilty to a charge of unacceptable whip use over the concluding stages of the event, not only was his whip action of concern to the Stewards but with the overt force it was being applied. Stewards after referring to driver Leedham’s recent poor record re whip use, suspended his licence to drive up to and including Friday November 15th, 2024, that being 4 Tasmanian Race dates, effective immediately. In addition, again based on his driving record, and referring to the guidelines re penalty for whip breaches, driver Leedham was also fined $400 [AHR Ruke 156(2)(a)].

RACE 7  –  TASMANIAN HORSE TRANSPORT PACE–  2090m  Stand

General: The start of this race was delayed approximately two(2) minutes due to a fireworks display at a neighboring facility.

MISS PAPENHUYZEN – Will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in future standing start events after being fractious behind the barrier stands, delaying the start.

MAGNETIC TERROR NZ – Fractious behind the barrier strands and failing to step away, effectively taking no competitive part in the event. Stewards in considering the matter were mindful of MAGNETIC TERROR NZ’s poor standing start record of recent times where it has failed to begin as required at its last two standing start events. MAGNETIC TERROR NZ will be excluded from the barrier draw in future standing start events.

General: Stewards delayed the “All-Clear” to review the start to confirm or otherwise MAGNETIC TERROR NZ had been afforded a fair start. Stewards on reviewing the start and referring to AHR Rule 127(4) deemed MAGNETIC TERROR NZ a starter as the gelding ‘had faced the standing start barrier when directed to do so by the starter’.

RACE 8  –  THE DYNAMO 15TH NOVEMBER PACE–  2090m  Mobile

HOW SWEET – Tightened for racing room near the 200 which resulted in the mare shifting in and its sulky wheel striking markers.

ROYAL APPOINTMENT – Carried a flat tyre from the 1000 after it was struck by CEDRIC SEYMOUR. Shifted in under pressure near the 200, tightening the bracing room of HOW SWEET.

CEDRIC SEYMOUR – Will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events after failing to fill its allotted position at the start by breaking gait in the score-up.

General: Driver M Ford was fined $100 for the careless manner he allowed CEDRIC SEYMOUR to race up, strike and puncture the off-side sulky tyre of ROYAL APPOINTMENT [AHR Rule 168(1)(a)].

RACE 9  –  RACING CONNECT PACE–  2090m  Mobile

CAPTAIN DAN NZ – Over-raced when striking its own sulky with its hind legs.

RACE 10  –  MORE CONFIDENCE CONSULTING PACE  –  1609m  Mobile

SETTEBELLO – Out of position passing the candy pole.

General: Driver M Yole was reprimanded for failing to have SETTEBELLO up and in position as the mobile passed the candy pole marker [AHR Rule 162(1)(i)].

Supplementary: Tasmanian Trotting Club  Race 8 Sunday 27 October 2024,

Stewards questioned driver Tiarna Ford into the reason why, at or about the 100, she applied her whip with a free hand. Driver Ford stated that the tip of her whip had snagged near the crupper on MAGIC JOE, however conceded she should not have applied the whip until returning the rein to her right hand.

Driver Ford was subsequently fined $200 for applying her whip with a free hand [AHR Rule 163A(1)].

Supplementary: SMOOTH REASON – Trainer Mark Reggett

Stewards questioned trainer M Reggett on Monday November 4, 2024, regarding SMOOTH REASON’s performance and recovery after starting race favourite in the Evicus 2YO Fillies Final on Saturday November 2nd, 2024, finishing 5th. Trainer Reggett firstly expressed his disappointment with the bad luck SMOOTH REASON experienced racing into the first turn when OHANA BY THE SEA broke gait and carried his filly extremely wide on the first turn and acknowledged that from that point on she did not pace well, although adding that she had done something similar at her most recent start. Overall, under the circumstances, he was not disappointed with the performance, adding that SMOOTH REASON on returning to her stable had eaten up well and is showing no ill signs of the run. Trainer Reggett went on to inform Stewards he believes SMOOTH REASON has come to the end of her campaign and plans to spell the filly, most likely for a few months.
