STEWARDS REPORT FOR ECHUCA

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – RICH RIVER GOLF CLUB PACE (1755 MS)
ART ON FIRE – held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
UPRIGHT - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having not competed in 12 or more months. No obvious abnormalities either examination.
RACE 2 – RICH RIVER AUTO BODY PACE (1755 MS)
MALAVA MISS – driver Peter Sanderson was cautioned for allowing the mare to race inside marker pegs rounding the final turn.
FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. No obvious abnormalities either examination.
PAPPA LEO NZ – held up and no clear run rounding home turn final occasion; utilized sprint lane thereafter.
RACE 3 – TAYOR MADE COWS PACE (2160 MS)
ARTIMOS – held up for clear running rounding the final turn; utilized sprint lane thereafter.
COBBER MAC – pre-race veterinary examination in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 12 or more years of age. No obvious abnormalities and the gelding was cleared to start. Tired to be beaten 157.7m into tenth placing. Post-race veterinary examination owing to what appeared to be a poor performance failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities and as such the gelding will now be required to trial satisfactorily on one (1) occasion.
GO GEORGE GO - competing in this event under the provisions of the HRV Elevated TCO2 policy. Trainer Glenn Bull Was queried regarding what appeared to be an improved performance from the gelding. Mr Bull explained that GO GEORGE GO was first-up from a month break at Kilmore on 6 November and had taken improvement from the outing. Mr Bull added that the circumference of the Echuca track, being able to race in the lead and the final quarter of 31.4 seconds were all reasons that could be attributed to the apparent improvement.
OKTOLOVE – held up for clear running rounding the final turn.
JOEYS HANGOVER - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. No obvious abnormalities either examination. Paced roughly in the home straight with one lap to run, and then galloped in the back straight on the final occasion shortly thereafter; last chance to race tractably.
RACE 4 – HAROLD OGDEN MEMORIAL MAIDEN PACE (2160 MS)
YANKEE BABE – gave ground to be beaten 38.5m into ninth and last placing. Driver Mikayla Towers could offer no tangible explanation for the performance other then the possibility that the travel from Leeton in NSW may have had an effect. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
ONYX – hung in rounding the first turn. Hung in under pressure rounding the final turn; warning issued owing to collective behaviors.
RACE 5 – MOAMA BOWLING CLUB PACE (1755 MS)
DIEING FEAR – held up for clear running rounding the final turn.
CITY ROCKSTAR - competing in this event under the provisions of the HRV Elevated TCO2 policy.
EAGLE MAJOR – hung in under pressure rounding the final turn.
SHARP INTEREST – hung in under pressure and galloped rounding the final turn; last chance to race tractably.
RACE 6 – VICTORIAN SQUARE TROTTERS ASSOCIATION TROT (2160 MS)
CMON CARL LEE – began badly; exclusion from future mobile barrier draws.
MADGE EGAN – held up for clear running rounding the final turn; utilized sprint lane thereafter.
VAN DOREN – galloped after the start; exclusion from future mobile barrier draws.
BETSY ANNE – racebook showed the mare to be ODM, however had trialed satisfactorily before this field was drawn and was placed back into the draw. Fractious before the start, requiring the assistance of the Clerk of the Course to move up into position to participate in the preliminary; last chance in the mobile barrier draw.
RACE 7 – LLOWALONG FARMS VICBRED VOUCHER PACE (1755 MS)
The start time of this event was re-scheduled to 9.50pm owing to lighting tower failure at approx. 400m, which required remedial works from the on-course electrician.
DRAW THE CURTAIN – pulled hard through the middle stages when leading. Galloped at approx. 700m and retired from the event by driver Nathan Jack. The gelding was examined by the on-course veterinarian and found to have sustained an injury to the near-hind limb. Treatment was administered and the gelding was transported to an equine clinic for further assessment and treatment. Stood down pending veterinary clearance.
SKINNY HORACE – checked at approx. 700m when DRAW THE CURTAIN galloped.
WARRIORESS – inconvenienced at approx. 700m when DRAW THE CURTAIN galloped.
KRAKEY - inconvenienced at approx. 700m when DRAW THE CURTAIN galloped.
COZMO - checked at approx. 700m when DRAW THE CURTAIN galloped.
WITH IN REASON – hung in latter part of the score-up. Checked at approx. 700m when DRAW THE CURTAIN galloped.
TAP TO PAY - checked at approx. 700m when DRAW THE CURTAIN galloped.
FLIP A COIN - checked at approx. 700m when DRAW THE CURTAIN galloped.
RACE 8 – ALABAR BLOODSTOCK PACE (2160 MS)
The start time of this event was amended to 10.10pm owing to lighting tower failure at approx. 400m.
The start time of this event was delayed by approx. five minutes to 10.15pm owing to an injury and treatment required to a runner from race seven.
OUR BELLA LUCIA – hung in and lost ground approx. 300m.
TUPELO BEACH – puled hard through early to middle stages.
MADAM REACTOR – competing in this event under the provisions of the HRV Elevated TCO2 policy. Pulled hard through the early to middle stages.
ILLAWONG PHOENIX - competing in this event under the provisions of the HRV Elevated TCO2 policy. Pulled hard through the early to middle stages.
FEEL THE REIGN - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. No obvious abnormalities either examination.
