Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
Stewards approved the following driving changes as Driver M Miller was unable to fulfill his engagements due to illness and was replaced by Driver K Symington as follows:
Race 1 – CRUNCH THE NUMBERS, Race 4 – SECRET REACTION, Race 6 – LUCIENNE, Race 7 – JUST A HAPPY MAN, Race 8 – STAR OF THE GALAXY.
Driver S Steele was indisposed and was replaced on the following drive:
Race 2 HURRICANEHOPE – K Symington
RACE 1 – COLLIE RETIRED MINERS 2YO WESTBRED PACE (2050MS)
WRITE RITE RIGHT (T Wheeler) – Broke gait when racing out of the front straight on the first occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial. Sustained a flat tyre to the nearside wheel in running.
CRUNCH THE NUMBERS (K Symington) – Severely checked and broke gait when racing out of the front straight on the first occasion.
SAVE ME (D Kulcsar) – Severely checked and broke gait when racing out of the front straight on the first occasion.
TAYLORS BOY FRED (C Peterson) – Raced roughly shortly after the start. Severely checked and broke gait when racing out of the front straight on the first occasion. Raced roughly when racing out of the back straight on the final occasion.
TI SENTO (L Wallrodt) – Checked and lost ground when racing out of the back straight on the first occasion.
RACE 2 – DAVIES TWO STEP 3YO WESTBRED (DIV.1) PACE (2050MS)
General: The clubs water tankers pump system failed prior to Race 2. Stewards determined that the track was still safe to continue racing for Race 2, however would call an indefinite delay until a substitute could be obtained for the remainder of the race meeting. The tankers pump was subsequently restored after the running of Race 2, causing no delays to the meeting.
RIPPER VIEW (T Wheeler) – Broke gait shortly after the start. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
ALLWOODS CHEVRON (D Harper) – Inconvenienced behind a galloping runner shortly after the start.
RACE 3 – ROBERT HAYWARD PACE (2050MS)
HEAVENLY BLISS (K Harper) – Shifted ground when under pressure in the front straight on the final occasion.
IMMACHULATE (S McDonald) – Inconvenienced for a short distance between HEAVENLY BLISS (K Harper) and BATAVIA STORM (H Charles) when racing in the front straight on the final occasion.
BATAVIA STORM (H Charles) – Held in restricted running room inside IMMACHULATE (S McDonald) and HEAVENLY BLISS (K Harper) after attempting to gain an inside run after HEAVENLY BLISS had shifted up the track marginally in the front straight on the final occasion.
ALTAIR STAR (E Suvaljko) – Stewards questioned the improved performance of the mare after travelling in the three wide line from the 900m. Trainer L Wallrodt offered no explanation and gave no instructions to the driver. A post-race sample was taken for analysis.
RACE 4 – TELSTRA PACE (2050MS)
General: Stewards held up correct weight on the advice of the official Starter after FLAMING CULLEN (L Steer) broke gait in the late stages of the score up and questioned whether there was a delay to the starting mechanism. On reviewing the patrol film, Stewards were satisfied that the gelding broke gait prior to the start commencing. Furthermore, acting under HR15(2) as ROCKIN THE TREND (J Suvaljko) placed fourth no further action was taken in relation to any interference sustained prior to the start commencing.
FLAMING CULLEN (L Steer) – Broke gait in the later stages of the score up. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
RACE 5 – GEORGE ASHCROFT MEMORIAL PACE (2050MS)
FUNKY MUSIC (T Wheeler) – Hung inwards when racing out of the back straight on the final occasion locking wheels with MY GRAND ANGUS (K Harper) which lost ground as a result.
MY GRAND ANGUS (K Harper) – Inconvenienced and locked wheels with another runner when racing out of the back straight on the final occasion.
RACE 6 – BENDIGO COMMUNITY BANK COLLIE CUP PACE (2670MS)
IMAHERO (S McDonald) – Swung sideways at the start.
BONSTAR (D Harper) – Broke gait when racing into the back straight on the second occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RAMBO RABBIT (A Suvaljko) – Tired over the concluding stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed several lacerations to the pastern and heel indicating the gelding had cross-fired.
MIKIPELO (C Peterson) – Broke gait after the start. Will remain excluded from the standing start draw.
RACE 7 – TABTOUCH PACE (2050MS)
A false start was declared on the first occasion after SOUNDS LIKE FUN (H Charles) broke gait in the middle stages of the score up interfering with the back line. The mare will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events. A false start was declared on the second occasion after HOKULANI (A Vidovich) failed to come into position by the required time causing interference to the second line. A warning was issued against the gelding. This race ran approximately 8 minutes late as a result.
SOUNDS LIKE FUN (H Charles) – Contacted its own sulky on a number of occasions causing the mare to over-race.
RACE 8 – ST JOHN AMBULANCE 3YO WESTBRED (DIV,2) PACE (2050MS)
LUCY VICTORIA (A Vidovich) – Raced roughly shortly after the start.
DAISY JONES (T Wheeler) – Broke gait racing in the back straight on the final occasion and again when racing into the front straight on the final occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
HOLD YOUR FIRE (K Young) – Inconvenienced and locked wheels with another runner when racing in the front straight on the final occasion.
SMOOTH TRANSACTION (H Charles) – Severely checked when checked by another runner when racing out of the front straight on the second occasion. Trailed the field thereafter.
STAR OF THE GALAXY (K Symington) – Broke gait in the score up and was out of position as the start was effected. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
BOUNCE BACK BUDDY (J Suvaljko) – Driver J Suvaljko was fined $200 under HR168(1)(a) for careless driving in shifting ground when insufficiently clear of the sulky wheel of HOLD YOUR FIRE (K Young) causing the two runners to lock wheels for a considerable distance.
SHOAL BAY (A Markham) – Broke gait when racing in the front straight on the second occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
