Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – COLLIE RETIRED MINERS PACE (2050MS)
This race was run without the assistance of the photo finish due to a technical issue. Subsequently the event was judged off the official patrol film.
PARAGLIDER (T Wheeler) - Broke gait racing into the back straight on the first occasion. Trailed the field and took no competitive part in the race. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
WHERES MY HALO (G Scott) - Broke gait racing in the back straight on the final occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
IKES GOT THE MIKE (L Wallrodt) - Severely checked by a galloping runner racing in the back straight on the final occasion and subsequently broke gait.
RACE 2 – TABTOUCH PACE (2050MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 3 – ROBERT HAYWARD PACE (2050MS)
TAYLORS BOY FRED (L Harper) - Broke gait after the start was effected and will be placed outside the draw for future mobile barrier events.
BY ROYAL COMMAND (A Vidovich) - Inconvenienced by a galloping runner shortly after the start was effected.
General: Concession Driver J Suvaljko (PRINCE OF TRIBECA) was cautioned regarding improving quickly onto runners ahead and advised that in future he is to show more care in similar circumstances to avoid potential contact to other runners.
RACE 4 – GEORGE ASHCROFT MEMORIAL PACE (2050MS)
JACK MANNIX (J Rigoli) - Broke gait racing in the back straight on the first occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 13 days and until such time as the completion of 2 satisfactory re-qualifying trials.
General: Driver H Charles (JUST A PET) was cautioned with regard to an incident racing into the back straight on the final occasion where he shifted JUST A PET outward to improve off the marker line. Although he had gained an advantage over OURFIRSTIMPRESSION (S Suvaljko) to his outside, the abruptness of his shift had caused a minor inconvenience to ISAIDBOO (J Suvaljko) which had commenced to improve quickly around OURFIRSTIMPRESSION. After analysing the available patrol vision Stewards were satisfied that the shift was in close proximity to the ease out pole however also reminded Mr Charles of his obligations to ensure he commences his shift in a more subtle and timelier manner to avoid such incidents and forcing runners wide prematurely.
RACE 5 – BENDIGO BANK COLLIE CUP DISCRETIONARY HCP PACE (2670SS)
TEPELO STAR (J Rigoli) - Galloped out. A warning was placed against the gelding’s standing start manners.
COOPER NZ (S Simms) - Reared at the start and galloped out. A warning was placed against the gelding’s standing start manners.
BLAZE AWAY (E Suvaljko) - Galloped out. A warning was placed against the gelding’s standing start manners.
GEE SMITH (J Suvaljko) - Severely checked by a galloping runner shortly after the start was effected. Broke gate racing out of the front straight on the final occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
General: Driver R Eyre (COOPER NZ) was interviewed in relation to his left leg being detached from its footrest in the back straight on the final occasion. Mr Eyre advised that he had locked stays momentarily with FEELING ACES (S Suvaljko) after racing tightly with that runner for a short distance and had dropped his leg as he was of the opinion he may need to use it to assist becoming detached from Mr Suvaljko’s sulky stay and further he then was obliged to activate gear prior to leaving the back straight and once activated he had kept his leg free as he became slightly unbalanced as COOPER NZ commenced to negotiate the tight turn. After viewing the available patrol films stewards were satisfied with Mr Eyre’s explanation however reminded him of his obligations to refrain from unnecessarily leaving his leg unattached from the footrest.
RACE 6 – TELSTRA PACE (2050MS)
RICHIE REACTOR (D Kulcsar) - Inconvenienced behind a tiring runner prior to entering the front straight on the final occasion.
